- This is a quick review of the new Data East 10 inch arcade classic put out by My Arcade. The big thing that stands out is that this uses Arcade Roms instead of the NES roms. See my Oregon Trail Handheld review! • Oregon Trail Handheld ...

Really good overview! I didn't even know that this existed until earlier today when I stumbled across a review.
Great video 🙂
Thank you! It's still a lot of fun to play! Plus if you like to do some tinkering. You can modify and add games to it as well! Thanks for watching!
This little machine has tumblepop!, that's pretty awesome. I would like to see some gameplay of it, but if it looks as good as the others then it must be a good version of the game.
This is exactly the review that I need it. Thank you!
Cool! It was one of my earlier reviews. But glad it helped! Thanks for watching!

Wow! I got a bargain! I found one a local thrift store for $8.00. No box or documents or power supply, just the game. Took a chance and it works fine.
That is awesome to hear! Especially at that price! It still is fun to play all these years later. But it also looks awesome on the shelf as well.
It's just USB mini so any 5volt USB charging cable and plug will do! Have fun!
@@DeedleTech yea,I just use a phone charger to power it.
there is a way to hack it to play MAME Games as its running Android. To find out more Go to FaceBook and join the My Arcade/Dream Gear Minis Fan Club. And coming soon to the Glen Planamento UA-cam channel will be a video on how exactly to mod your unit.
Absolutely! One of the best Facebook groups to join! Glen is the best!
I am blessed to have Glen as a friend. :) I go by David Protestari on FB. Both Glen and I along with Pete, Bob, Steve of the Wired Up Retro UA-cam Channel do the Atari 5200 Podcast.
I am also hoping that someone will creat some nice vinyl artwork for this unit one we turn them into mame units :) Oh I an Subbed your channel :)
Thanks for subbing! I'm subbed to your Wired Up Retro channel, as well as Glen's! Enjoy listening to them while I'm at work! . I really need to get back into reviewing some more random retro things that I have laying around. Find time is tough with a busy life as you know yourself. My next review might be reviewing a few of those NES roms on a chip handhelds. As I do have a collection of those as well. To many topics and not enough time! Ha!
Awesome
Nice!
i buy one now thanks
You will enjoy it! It's a lot of fun! Thanks for watching!
It used to be $80, now it's $100, and they couldn't even bother to put a rechargeable battery in there.
redroversk Yep I've seen that. They must be taking advantage of the demand unfortunately. And I agree on the lack of battery. Should have been an option! Thanks for watching!
DeedleTech it’s not worth $100, right? That’s pretty high.
I just bought this one. 10.4" LCD Mini Table Top Acrylic Cabinet With New Game Board 1299 in 1. $200
bit.ly/2HXxXvP
For 34 games for £100, I would say it's a bit expensive. The one i'm getting is twice the price but 1299 games.
why did MY ARCADE made this and then separate ones too? I just bought KARATE CHAMP, BURGERTIME & BAD DUDES
The single cabinets contain the NES versions while this one contains the actual arcade versions. Perhaps they did this to whet peoples appetite by giving us the inferior and cheaper NES versions before hitting us with a larger multi-cabinet with the actual arcade versions. I guess they figured this would justify the $100 asking price. Sneaky.
Dude, return those pieces of shit! I ordered Burgertime only to find out that it was the nes version. I couldn’t justify the $30 price point for the inferior nes version. Same thing goes for Bad Dudes and Karate Champ.
Pretty cool and thanks for doing a video on it. It is hard to find actual info for it at all. $100 and no internal battery? Wow. I wonder if it will work on a usb power bank. Has anyone tried it?
@Bib Fortuna. Thanks for watching! I can't see why it couldn't. It's just a 5v 1amp wall plug. So a batt pack with decent amperage output should work just fine, not sure how long though. But at least you could attach it to the back so people/yourself could play it on a whim without having to find a wall plug. And yes an internal battery would have gone a long way towards "kind of, almost, not really, totally, somewhat justifing" the increased price tag. Hopefully soon they will start releasing in greater mass for cheaper price!
Yes, any fairly recent usb power brick works fine, even ones that only put out 1amp. Oviosly the bigger the power bank the better, but with my (quite old) approx 5000jaH powerbrick I got well over 6 hours of battery life... if it was new, it would probably go a bit longer.
This looks cool. It's a shame the bezel doesn't light up. The stick's a little bogus too. I bet it could be modded to have better control. Though if the stick were bigger, it might block your view of the screen.
What is the size of the screen measured across the diagonal? I agree, the screen looks like it's 16:9 rather than 4:3. My Arcade's choice to use it probably has to do with the availability of cheap LCD screens that only support 16:9 resolutions.
The frame rate looks bad (especially in Desert Assault). Do you know anything about the hardware specs? How do you know it is running Android?
At $80, I'd like to see the comparison price break down of a custom mini-picade and this thing.
WhatsOnMyShelf I agree. There are many thing that could have been done to this. As far as the frame rate. It seems to depend upon the game. As most run fast and others are a bit slower. I will have to compare to the original arcade mame rom to see. As far as android is concerned I'm just guessing as the onscreen volume overlay kind of looks like an old version of Android. But I could be wrong! Thanks for watching!
Ryan??!!!?? Is that you?? You're still alive?? I was beginning to think you were a figment of my imagination..... Cool game console btw.
Dr_Boom Ha! Yep Totally alive..... Or.... maybe your comment is a figment of my imagination?? Mind Blown! Ha!
How do you aim your gun in Heavy Barrell? You used to twist the joystick in the arcade
Howdy! Thanks for watching! You have to push the buttons to aim your gun. Unfortunately no joystick twist. Not cool.
Not the most ideal solution, but if you really wanted to, I bet you could run this thing from an external battery pack.
Iain Cowell... Absolutely you can! I have mine running off one just so I can sit with it on the couch and play! Works pretty well and those external packs are everywhere!
So you're telling me that My Arcade made a Data East Classics arcade machine, used the Android version of MAME, and DIDN'T even bother to put in Trio the Punch?
I call lazy!
Yea I agree! There are a few games Data East had omitted from there library. Not exactly sure why exactly. Unless My Arcade didn't want to pay for those licenses. They should have!
I was waiting to get this off of Amazon at the $100 price point, available April 3, and now it says that there is no more in stock from the seller, so it’s being sold by a new seller for $130. However, the My Arcade website still has them for $100. Would you say $100 is still too high for this?
$60-70 tops. There are some good games there but only a third of them are worthy. And yet when you break it down you’re paying around $3 a game. But $100? ehhh... I’d easily plop down $30-40 bucks for a pure arcade mini of Heavy Barrel. Those NES ports are brutal. I’d rather just save up for the Replicade Centipede and Tempest cabintes. If those turn out well my wallet’s history.
@Ken It's only worth as much as you are willing to pay. Honestly when it was $79 it was a little high, but tolerable. But $100 on up is a stretch. It's a shame that both sellers and My Arcade are taking advantage. I'm getting the feeling they didn't make very many of these and maybe they are testing the market to see if making more is worth it for them. Damn shame.
DeedleTech well, I can tell you one thing for certain. If I’m hard pressed to give them $100 for this, there’s no way in hell I would pay $130 for it. 👍
Especially Tempest! Ha
DeedleTech it’s now down to $113 on Amazon. Still higher than its $100 price point, but it’s coming down. Hopefully, one day it will be even lower than $100.
COMMENTCEPTION!!!!
The only place that has this now is the My Arcade website, and they want $100 for it. It’s not worth $100, right?
Ken Ferrell Thanks for watching! Yep I have seen this, used to be about $80 and that was pushing it. I don't regret getting it. But $100 is steep. Hopefully when they see they haven't sold any for a while they might wake up and lower the price.
DeedleTech, technically it used to be $50 from Staples. (Don’t know if it was actually for sale, or just a preorder). Then Staples dropped it off their website, and Gamestop picked it up for $80. Now I cannot find it anywhere at Gamestop, and the My Arcade website is selling it for $100. So it is literally double it’s original price.
Ken Ferrell Wow. Didn't know Staples had it listed for only 50 bucks originally. Maybe I should open mine up and see if there is gold inside! Ha. Yea clearly they are taking a price advantage of the Retro Craze. Too bad really as I think a lot of people would enjoy this!
You can get it from deepdiscount.com for $70.
Jon Kovel thanks man. I still think it’s kind of overpriced, even at $70, but at least it’s a heck of a lot better than $100.
I hate that there’s no 4:3 mode on this
GOLDENRETROGAMES I know. Would have been nice if it were an option at least. Again it all comes back if they want to start charging a hundred for this, then MyArcade better start stepping up the options. When it's 20 to 30 bucks I can forgive some oversights. But when u start charging more(I mean, good land, this thing is now half the cost of an Xbox one S console) , then the features better be more.
That's cool, cheap and hackable.
Absolutely. Now your can find it at a reasonable price. Where as at first they wanted close to a hundred for it. It's a great little arcade! Thanks for watching!
The aspect ratio makes this a non player.
It does effect the games. There are hacks out now you can modify the insides and present in more of a 4:3 rather than a 16:9 ratio. Thanks for watching!
@@DeedleTech In fact you can change the aspect ratio, with a combination of buttons.

Good to know! . Keep in mind that this video I did was made when the Data East Classic arcade first came, now that it's been out for a while, a lot of awesome modders are doing many fun things to it! Thanks for watching!
