- Wow this video was a challenge! This song is probably my favorite Christmas song to listen to/play and I really wanted to attempt something crazy by seeing if I could play every single part with the knowledge and skill I've developed across many instruments. And after a week of on and off recording I did it!
Instruments used:
Woodwinds:
Piccolo
2 Flutes
3 Clarinets
Bass Clarinet
Contra Alto Clarinet
2 Alto Saxes
Tenor Sax
Bari Sax
Brass:
3 Cornets
2 Trumpets
4 Horns
3 Trombones
Baritone
Tuba
(String Bass)
Percussion:
Sleigh Bells
Bells
Temple Blocks
Snare Drum
Bass Drum
Cymbals
Slapstick
Xylophone
Brother, this dude is so talented being able to do every single instrument in sleigh ride rock on dude
That means so much to hear! Thank you for listening!
@@evanbonannomusic i dont blame you for not doing strings haha. i can barely play it on my violin myself (as a freshman)
I actually recently got a cello and fixed up a violin myself so I'm on my way there! I'd love to be able to have real string orchestra textures in my recordings someday
When you have to do the entire group project yourself:
I didn't have to, I chose to!
I love how you didn't just use trumpets but actually used cornets too for their respective parts
Figured it was worth doing since I can play and have a Cornet at home!
I am thinking of doing this on saxes, then branching out to the clarinet family as well. This guy just goes out and plays the whole band!! This is awesome!
Thank you!
band teachers crying of jelousy in the backround*
Underrated! Crazy how much work is shown and put into this!
Thank you!
yooo is that a contrabass clarinet? this is so sick dude i aspire to be this multitalented
Contra-Alto Clarinet!
No Eb Soprano :((((@@evanbonannomusic
Dude this is so impressive! My orchestra played this arrangement last year, but I simply can't imagine the amount of effort that went into playing every part yourself, especially with instruments from different families. I'm so glad this showed up on my fyp, gonna check out your other stuff now because I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to say all this! Happy you enjoyed it
Obviously its super impressive that you can just play every instrument but also I imagine getting them all in time was a big challenge too, so congrats because this was amazing!
Was definitely challenging! It was quite fun though!
When the band conductor is absent
Maybe I should've added a video of me conducting all the other Evans!
I've met people who have a similiar talent in the past, but usually they only know how to play a load of instruments really badly. This however, sounds really good!
Thank you so much! I really aspire not to end up like those people
your tone on the low brass and low reed instruments in particular is very solid!
Thank you! I have much more experience on low reeds than low brass so it's nice to hear that both sound good!
Lots of respect
Why thanks
@@evanbonannomusic one of my favorite Christmas songs
Same!
New meaning of "one man band"
Thank you!
Dude I aspire to be this lmao. I'm 14 and In my room rn I have a tuba (my primary band instrument), a trombone, a trumpet (w a broken 2nd valve), a cornet, an alto sax, a drumkit, and a keyboard. Downstairs I have a legit upright piano which is my primary instrument. I tinker with composing, though I struggle with the transposing of saxes and french horns :/. This video is inspiring to me!! New sub :)
I was quite similar to you at that age! Keep at it and you will achieve so much!
I just bought a clarinet 🤫 @@evanbonannomusic
Love all of your work, everything you put out is astounding 🙏
Thanks :)
That was amazing! Thank you!
Many thanks!
Amazing work!
Thank you!
VERY WELL DONE!
Thank you very much!
This is amazing!!
Thank you for listening!
dude you as a band is better than my entire band
If only I had clones!
@@evanbonannomusic we should make a petition to clone you
@@evanbonannomusic and make a band out of you
Now that's what you call dedication. Bravo!
Many thanks!
Amazing. Bravo!.
Thank you!
this is seriously impressive, youve earned a subscriber. i really hope this blows up.
Thank you so much! I also hope so!
UNDERRATED VIDEO! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Thank you! I will do my best!
Yoooo this is amazing ‼️‼️ 👍
Thank youuuuu
And to think that I can barely play it on my own instrument. Keep up the great work, you are very talented!!!
Thank you!
This is awesome, amazing work 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Pasta :)
Pasta is going to be the end of me
that’s is incredible!!!
Thank you!
Cool!
dude this is so good
Thanks!
this is so sigma!
this is some real dedication and skill, truly a one man band!
and do you just casually own all these instruments, or did you borrow some of them? either way, really cool! i think you're my idol now lmao
Thank you so much! I own a lot of these but some I had to record in school since I didn't want to use midi sounds.
INSANE!!
Thank you!
Brother this is awesome you just got a subsciber
Thank you
this is hella bussin
Awesome work dude, this must've taken a ton of time to put together!
Not too long! Only about a week
@@evanbonannomusicdangggg
@@evanbonannomusicrocking it 🔥
this is amazing. how did you manage to time everything together so perfectly?
Recorded all the tracks one at a time to metronome and was strict on myself with my rhythm tightness so they wouldn't sound off when combined
this is crazy cool
Thank you!
Eb contrabass/contra alto representtttt
Couldn't leave it out!
best video ive ever seen
many thanks
This is beyond amazing considering you put dedication on this. Keep up the good work!
also I have a question if I could request a song piece maybe?
Thank you! I am certainly open to suggestions for songs!
@@evanbonannomusic thank you, I would absolutely appreciate it if you could play “Stargazer by David Shaffer”. once again thank you :)
So much talent 😯 if only I could do that in my concert
Thank you!
Nice Video!
Thanks! I worked hard on it
Damn, only 5K views? This deserves much more
That means so much thank you! This has already been my most successful video yet by far so hopefully it will get there!
all trumpet and cornet parts on flugelhorn? No double reeds? Still awesome job! Love 2 different low clarinets!
Nope those are actually cornets and trumpets! Bells look a little weird at that angle lol. Would love to have a flugel though! Unfortunately I don't have any double reeds and neither does my school :( glad you liked the low clarinets! I very much do as well
how long did it take
edit: how did you manage to wear the same shirt for the whole week of recording
only took a day to record videos. did audio seperately
You should play Mountain Dance by Ed Kiefer. Great piece
I'll consider it!
👏👏👏👏
Many thanks
As a 3 instruemmt player i wish to be like you
I am honored!
Simply put so you don't have to waste too much time, how does one do this (like record it)? Do you just run a met and record them all and line them up?
I just ran a met for this one. Usually I'll have a midi mockup I'll use as a backing track but I just read the sheet music down and recorded for every track on this project.
For stuff like this honestly to not waste too much time recording it helps best to learn all the parts relatively well ahead of time. Normally when I record I just sightread and play what I've written without practicing but there were a few tricky sections in some of these parts that it helped to work out the day earlier
@@evanbonannomusic Thank you so much man, I was just curious bc I totally wanna do stuff like this but am slightly unaware on how to properly execute it. This helped tons!
No problem! I hardly ever get asked about how I do this stuff but I'm always happy to share!
I am a multi-instrumentalist who wants to do the same thing and play all the parts of a song but I don’t know how to put multiple videos at the same time
There is lots of free software online that works for this sort of thing. Kinemaster is quite easy to learn if you're doing it all on your phone and DaVinci resolve is quite good on computers
@@evanbonannomusicthank you!
so uhm... maybe a wierd question but do you have a "main" instrument?
I do! I am primarily a tenor saxophone player. That is what I perform on mostly and what I am best at
Wow 1+ sub
Many thanks!
No problem
the real question is where you pulled half of these instruments from
Most of them I own and have at home with me. Some are borrowed from my school that I have at home to record with since I'm the only one who plays them. And lastly some I just recorded in school (mainly percussion).
😃
:)
The bass drum is so painfull to look at tbh. Hit that thing.
My director was teaching in the other room so I didn't want to be too loud :(
@@evanbonannomusic damn
Hit it hard in the recording though
Just a small suggestion but I would've replaced the temple blocks with the xylo or glockenspiel but that's just me
You need the horse sound in 'Sleigh Ride'
temple blocks are literally in the song tho
I just played the parts as written 🤷♂️
no bassoon :( (my instrument)
I'm sorry :( I would love to play and record bassoon I just don't have access to one
hehehe
ha
bro forgor oboe, bassoon, and e flat clarinet
I don't have those instruments :(
If I ever get the opportunity to use them in recordings I certainly will though!
@@evanbonannomusic Bet, I'll loan you my bassoon for the next edition of whatever song
Sure! I'll learn bassoon just for it lol :)
Too much
:(
