I’ve never been to New Zealand, but had the pleasure of flying Air New Zealand from HK to London some time ago. Good experience. Btw this aircraft type is called 787-9 (not -900). Awful in economy (such narrow seats), pretty good in premium economy and of course business.
Hello thanks for the clarification regarding the 787-9 . I think premium economy, is iAir New Zealand’s sweet spot. What let’s their business class down is the dated herringbone seats. Thankfully they are being replaced next year. I miss the fact that Air New Zealand doesn’t fly physically fly through to London anymore.Now I get the economic arguments but it was always nice having those fifth freedom right out of Hong Kong and out of Los Angeles.. again, thanks for reaching out .

Such a pity Air NZ no longer serve London but nice to pick them up in the US instead - looking forward to my next flight home (first since the pandemic) the offerings seem to have changed with a deeper pitch in premium economy than I remember and the same fantastic food (happy to see kapiti ice cream is now on offer!) looking forward to your upcoming flights!

Wow, there is a name I haven't seen in a long time, I remember in the 90's when I was a teenager at the time, that I felt so bad that Kiwi Air was in trouble I mailed $20 in an envelope to you, I occasionally wonder now as a 40 mumble year old, whether that money ever made it to you. I'd never heard of Kiwi Air before. I see that there were two airlines with that name, the New Zealand one and one in the USA, presumably unrelated, and both are now defunct.

Kiwi Air collapsed in October 1996 we were based in Hamilton New Zealand.. the other Kiwi international was American based and my understanding is the senior team that founded the airline they were all ex Pan Am and since Pan Am had collapse, they felt they were flightless and named it after the flightless Kiwi.
