Lutris' hidden super power is that it makes it ridiculously easy to install and play older games. Ones that do not have launchers, remember those :D With just a few clicks it sets up the prefix/environment and then you just install the game as you normally would. I recently got back to playing Red Alert 2, HOMM III and Test Drive Unlimited. All, to my surprise, worked with no issues. RA2 would not even start on Windows 10 the last time I tried it.
I had so much trouble on Mint making anything work. Screen tearing, Input Lag, fps issues, Nvidia settings not being applied and other stuff. I installed EndeavourOS (Arch based) and It just worked. I feel certain games are even running more smooth and responsive than under Windows. So give it a try folks. EndeavourOS in 2024 is amazing as far as I can tell. Mint has many more QoL features and feels more like a thought through desktop, but besides that I'm having a blast on EndeavourOS. Warframe runs on Max settings with 160fps and DLSS. It's perfect :)
@@IntelligentGaming2020 Until I nuked my distro three days after installing it the first time cause of a Nvidia driver issue😆 I guess yesterdays kernel update wasn't made for my setup😑 But now I know it works. I'll also try Nobara tho, many gaming related scripts are kernel integrated. Maybe that way OpenRGB will finally work👀
Yes Lutris is great - it took me a while to get used to it but now I can't go without it - I have a whole bunch of windows specialty software I installed through lutris and use it for all my non-steam games. Nice overview. cheers
Hey, sorry very off topic of the video but I remember a while ago you did a video on how to enable hardware acceleration on chrome when you were on Manjaro and I also think on Kubuntu and my question is, does the Kubuntu video work still for Ubuntu 24.04?
So can I use Lutris to install alllll the pirated CODEC games Like Arkham Asylum onto my Ubuntu PC? I don't want to run games from Epic, Steam or Origin or Anything You you have to pay for. Just standalone games that have been pirated. And no, I have never pirated any games. I just want to know.
I downloaded epic games and downloaded a game called alien isolation it launched shows the title screen then it just tells me to wait i wait and nun happens
On linux mint and everytime i try to launch a games like sonic frontier or halo master chief collection the game wants to verify vaulkin and then closes back to the play button. i got some older games running like sonic adventure 1 and 2 but the heavier ones closes. but when i tried on zorin they actually ran but was a slide show.
I LOVE linux and i use It, but the BEST distro for gaming IS Windows. Total War games,s performance IS horrible on linux, i ve tried with Ubuntu, arch, void, linux, opensuse, fedora. Native and proton. Sido meiers civilization games run better on Windows than linux native. I hate the true: Windows IS the BEST distro for gaming.
@@IntelligentGaming2020 sure, for old games I meant all those old games on CDs and DVDs that never arrived on steam or gog. I have a ton of them lying around 🤭
No, it's not. The web experience just looks better on Chrome, as echoed by many in the Linux community. Simply install extensions that block ads, and you're good to go. Firefox is clunky AF.
Due to Microsoft's desisions, videos like this have gotten an algorithm boost from people who are migrating to Linux
I hope so, as Microsoft is heading towards a subscription based OS.
@@IntelligentGaming2020 unless you live in Europe like me
@pbt189 Me too. I left Microsoft 5-6 days ago.

Yep, Lutris is pretty damn good :)
I heard the same from many people, that playing older (even DOS) games is more easy on Linux than Windows nowadays. Which is pretty funny tbh.

It's awesome seeing your tutorials again, thank you for these tutorials! 👑
Thanks, appreciate it :)

Second the recommendation on EndeavourOS, Arch Linux without the tedium of the initial setup.

Just for you know,
Fedora has RPM Fusion repositories, which include the latest available Nvidia drivers.
I do know that :)

Yes, although it seems that hardware decoding is now enabled by default on recent builds of Chromium based browsers.
@@IntelligentGaming2020 Okay, gotcha well I'll see if it's just on by default or not in the GPU tab. Thanks!

Are the games installed on a NTFS formatted drive?
@IntelligentGaming2020 I don't think so no. That would make sense NTFS is a windows format I will have to take a look

No, Windows is the best OS for gaming :)
What
Aaah, thanks. I play EfT and some other pc games, so will stick with Win.
Thankfully, I can use Linux Ubuntu as my main OS and have a Win10 running in a VM under it. The best of both worlds, really.
Old games work better with Lutris then modern Windows pcs
I can agree with that, unless you buy it from GOG.

Bad video, hard to follow so many subjects at the same time. When you dont even know wth hes talking about.

No idea, I don't use pirated games.
