I can PROMISE you that there were no overdubs on my vocals. I NEVER went in to record over anything. Actually, there are a few spots where I wish I had.. but Neal wanted to keep it real. There are overdubs on my guitar parts because I play TERRIBLE and Neal fixed me up a bit! :) Rick Altizer
I was there! Third row dead center. The sound was excellent! Better live sound. Which usually isn't the case. I also got to meet the bass player of Seventh Wonder that night. Great night!!!!
SAW this show in Seattle. We came down from Vancouver island and I can tell you that of all the shows I have seen (and I have seen hundres)this was one of the best and the longest that I have ever seen.My son is 16 and loves heaver stuff but he also was blown away by this show.Another thing was I also found a new respect for Portnoys drummming on this tour not to mention all the other fine players.
Awesome tour, and I was thrilled to be able to see this live in NYC. I just wish this was shot anywhere but Whittier...I can't help but think of a high school auditorium every time I see footage from there. It's a very sterile setting for a concert.
@projectgoatse Exactly where are you talking about? I've watched it over and over. He only plays keyboard a few times in this song and his hand movements look spot on. Not once I can tell he's off. Maybe you need to listen a little more carefully.
@project: The keyboard parts are being played by the guy to the far left of Portnoy. It's 2011, you can actually get organ sounds without an actual organ ya know...
the intro is sick. kinda reminds me of "the dance of eternity -DT". They should have put a sick guitar solo into this song... that would have been bad ass!!!
@projectgoatse I may have noticed overdubs, but I certainly do not think they are blatant. I will often notice "inconsistencies" on drum, which are either results of overdubs, or the recording of multiple performances which will never match 100%, but in this clip, the drums are consistent 100%. Don't forget also that there is a keyboard player in the back right of the stage. Another indication that there may not be overdubs is that there is some off key vocals that were left untouched.
The storm before me stands upon the water I've been sailing in my ship toward dry land Wounded, scarred, and sad and disillusioned And the world just said "too bad" and let me stained But where is the rain? Where is the rain? Where is the rain that's supposed to wash away my pain? Will I remain Tied to this chain? Still there's a song of freedom calling me again Come on son you've been on the run But the shore awaits you now Set your heart on the highest part And you'll make it there somehow The sea you'll leave behind when all your fears have been released And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free Catapulting out towards the future The desert wind blow hot upon the sand At least in my own ship I have authority I'll carve a future with my own bare hands But where is the rain? Where is the rain? Where is the rain that's supposed to wash away my pain Still He is here Still He is here Still there's a song of freedom calling me again Come on son you've been on the run But the shore awaits you know Set your heart on the highest part And you'll make it there somehow The sea you'll leave behind And I will give perfect peace And you will know the truth And the truth will set you free I surrender all I surrender all of to my love The highest measure of my gain I surrender all Oh, I surrender all to you my love Just stop this haunting in my brain, brain... hey! Come on son you've been on the run But the shore awaits you know Set your heart on the highest part And you'll make it there somehow The sea you'll leave behind And I will give you perfect peace And you will know the truth And the truth will set you free You will know the truth And the truth will set you free
wow !! 30 years ??? i believe that you have same prestige like neal morse has (sarcasm)... this is not about be the best musician with 30 years of "career" this is about humility... if you can't appreciate the work of NM and his band, go with your "30 years of career" and listen to justin bieber, maybe you will find a "better" vocal work...
Perhaps you can't read, I made no comment on how good or bad a musician NM is, I simply pointed out that this is "in whole" is "Christian Dream Theatre" and his vocals are about a 3/10. Overall, there is nothing all that special about this. That all said, I will now make a comment on the musicality of NM and crew.. meh, at best.... Progressive Gospel..... gag me....please....
I'm not trolling.... I clicked through on a portnoy link... I have been a musician for over 30 years and this is just not that "awesome".... it is mediocre prog with crap vocals and a boringly predictable lyrical content.. enjoy it if you like, but don't act like Neal is some visionary musician..... meh, below average overall... decent in parts, but not earth shattering....
Great....Christian "Dream Theater" with even worse vocals than LaBrie...... Mike.....dude.....what happened? one of the best drummers on the planet and THIS is what he is doing with the talent?

That's incredible how people are arrogant in the comments of this video -_-
Thank you Neal for your wonderful music ♥

Unbelievable musicality! How did I miss this? I guess I didn't...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Awesome!!!!!!!!

Enough, guys. Just enjoy the music and realize the TRUE meaning of the song.
When I see this, I must say : I´s really awesome and I wish I can see this :-)
If you look closely, there are several other keyboards on the stage.
why haven't they filmed the audience? projectgoatse, why don't you post the exact second where the overdubs are so blatant?
the intro is sick. kinda reminds me of "the dance of eternity -DT". They should have put a sick guitar solo into this song... that would have been bad ass!!!
@projectgoatse being played by the keyboard player at the top right
🤚✋
Mike plays with Neal Morse since the 90s' Maybe all Neal's stuff are that good, but there many good songs on his work.
@projectgoatse I may have noticed overdubs, but I certainly do not think they are blatant. Mike, getting better on drums...ever!
Where is the rain?
wwwwoooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh :))))
I didn't know Steve from Blue's Clues played guitar
The storm before me stands upon the water
I've been sailing in my ship toward dry land
Wounded, scarred, and sad and disillusioned
And the world just said "too bad" and let me stained
But where is the rain?
Where is the rain?
Where is the rain that's supposed to wash away my pain?
Will I remain
Tied to this chain?
Still there's a song of freedom calling me again
Come on son you've been on the run
But the shore awaits you now
Set your heart on the highest part
And you'll make it there somehow
The sea you'll leave behind when all your fears have been released
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
Catapulting out towards the future
The desert wind blow hot upon the sand
At least in my own ship I have authority
I'll carve a future with my own bare hands
But where is the rain?
Where is the rain?
Where is the rain that's supposed to wash away my pain
Still He is here
Still He is here
Still there's a song of freedom calling me again
Come on son you've been on the run
But the shore awaits you know
Set your heart on the highest part
And you'll make it there somehow
The sea you'll leave behind
And I will give perfect peace
And you will know the truth
And the truth will set you free
I surrender all
I surrender all of to my love
The highest measure of my gain
I surrender all
Oh, I surrender all to you my love
Just stop this haunting in my brain, brain... hey!
Come on son you've been on the run
But the shore awaits you know
Set your heart on the highest part
And you'll make it there somehow
The sea you'll leave behind
And I will give you perfect peace
And you will know the truth
And the truth will set you free
You will know the truth
And the truth will set you free
In that concert are 3 keyboards !!! this people are blind or what ???!!
Did any over the 'overdub' bozo's not notice the 3 keyboards in the band? Should have gone to specsavers lads.
2 dislikes? Hmmm...they must not have the current version of Flash player and couldn't hear or see the video. Must be it.
I surrender all to you my Lord !! yes.
progrock for Jesus

You must not have a very deep musical exposure, hence seeing this band for more than it is.....
vocal are 3/10 ???? pppfff go listen justin bieber...

Go listen to Russ Allen, Geoff Tate, etc...etc...etc... 3/10 at best.
Great....Christian "Dream Theater" with even worse vocals than LaBrie...... Mike.....dude.....what happened? one of the best drummers on the planet and THIS is what he is doing with the talent?
