  • Sea kelp has 7 health benefits that go beyond just supporting your thyroid health.

0:00 7 health benefits of sea kelp in addition to thyroid support
0:50 One benefit is that the iodine in sea kelp will enhance your cognitive performance
2:30 I recommend taking sea kelp in the morning
In this video, I explain the 7 health benefits of sea kelp in addition to thyroid support. High-quality sea kelp that’s grown in a clean ocean is highly beneficial for your thyroid, which needs the iodine in kelp to make its hormones.
These are the 7 health benefits of the iodine in sea kelp:
    1. Helps balance estrogen. If a woman is estrogen dominant she may develop ovarian cysts or fibrocystic breasts.
    2. Enhances your IQ (your cognitive performance), especially in a growing child. If you’re pregnant, take sea kelp to reduce the chance of the baby’s brain being smaller. Iodine can also enhance your growth in general.
    3. Contains ten times more calcium than milk. We all know the problems with milk from a commercial dairy, with added hormones and the low quality of food that cows eat.
    4. Sea kelp has many more nutrients such as magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, vitamin C, and B vitamins
    5. Contains the phytochemical fucoidan, which has powerful anti-cancer properties. It’s an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties too.
    6. Contains vanadium, a trace mineral that helps control your blood sugars and address insulin resistance. (Sea kelp contains all trace minerals, but iodine seems to be the most concentrated.)
    7. Contains amino acids, although a fairly small amount so you’d have to consume large quantities to reap the benefits. Just be aware there are amino acids in seaweed.
Iodine concentrates iodine up to 30,000 times so you don’t need to take a lot of it. Take it in the morning not before bed because it can actually give you too much energy and disrupt your sleep.
To summarize, sea kelp contains vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and amino acids, making it a very beneficial ocean vegetable.

I had ovarian cysts an year ago due to PCOD. The size of the cyst was 8cm on the right ovary. I took Dr. Berg’s sea kelp supplement, one capsule a day for 3 months while also doing Keto and Intermittent fasting of 18 hours each day. My cyst totally disappeared in the third month. Thank yo so much Dr.Berg. I just can’t thank you enough. I dream of a day when I can meet you personally. I just hope my wish comes true.

I eat Korean birthday soup made with kelp and beef for about 5 days before my period starts. It really helps moderate my PMS symptoms (fatigue, mood swings, craving sweets, bloating). It keeps me full, lean, energized, and banishes mood swings and cravings for sweets.
Plus, it's very yummy and nourishing.

Yup. I had hard lumpy breasts in my 40s to where mammography didn't really allow a good view. Digital was upcoming around that time, but I knew mammography stress was not for me no matter how much the doctors pushed for it. Also, my mom had breast cancer in her 50s. So, I did a lot of research! I discovered iodine was very necessary for our breasts and started taking bladderwrack. I didn't want the strong Lugols form; I wanted to try the natural plant form which in my mind makes sense same as getting minerals from plants which we assimilate well. I also make chicken seaweed soup often. Soon after I started taking bladderwrack and DIM, my breasts became soft and healthy same as when I was in my 20s. Now in my late 50s, my breasts are still like in my 20s. It's like a secret that shouldn't be. It's difficult to choke down the fear the health community cloaks over us so they can pay for their expensive research and machines (and I do not blame the doctors since we are all products of THE higher ups), but the natural alternative is always worth trying. This is where wonderful and brave doctor advocates like Dr. Berg comes in. But we still have to use our own brains because we all think and behave differently, and what we think and believe - our belief system - matters very much on how we affect ourselves. I gotta say, like a miracle, I got this one right.

I have always believed that one of the reasons why Japanese live so long is because they eat a lot of seaweed very frequently. However, seaweed is also considered quite “cold” in Chinese medicine. So, people we are cold-natured (I am one) can’t handle it everyday, and or they’ll need to eat something warming to balance it out.

I always get good results with fat loss. It’s not a miracle but it’s not far off from a miracle. It’s not gonna work in 2 days but I always start seeing results after a week. Hi Dr. Berg,
Appreciate this video on sea kelp. Serious question though, is there a sea where you can recommend that is low in radiation to grow the kelp?

Great video and I am taking kelp every other day and I’m feeling great from it! Also can you please put together a video regarding the dangers of oxalates and oxalic acid in the foods we consume? Huge topic and I think would help a lot of people...Thanks Doctor!! 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️

Here bc I ate a ton of sheets of nori and started takin iodine drops coincidentally about two weeks before my period and leading up to it. I have virtually no pain while my last one had me bed ridden and throwing up nonstop for hours. Apparently I was iodine deficient last time.

Maybe it depends on the person's health? Also if you look online - so many forms of sea kelp sold - from tablets to the "original whole food". So i guess the nutrients and dosage will depend on the brand and type of product you get?
I would suggest doing some research - sea kelp is eaten in "original form" in some countries around the world. I can think of norway , iceland, japan, taiwan, china - japan is famous for longetivity and healthy diet. So maybe do some research and start with "small doses". Also in rare cases - i think some people have allergy to sea kelp - but its rare.
