    Lovely colour. My family's favourite godshe. In Goa sabudana is added for thickening instead of rice powder. But the taste of tandla pitti aallavann is the best.

    Bapamma,my mom in law ground a tabspn of soaked rice, lil coconut and added that as alavan!
    In Goa at my mom's madgane is prepared exactly the way you prepared but we add sago/ sabudana too..
    My husband is from Gangolli..we Goans call it Mangane 😊

    Appears that madgane derived from Karwari name for payasam as MaDDi+ GeNasu (sweet potato) = MaDgaNe [ cooked sweet potato pieces also added to payasam as known from my mother]

      Everyone has their own way of preparing it.. we prepare it this way, even in temples it is prepared this way
