      +SimplyChevy I'm the same way but I just recently told myself I can stop. The only way I can is braiding my hair to the back. I braided my hair Tuesday and am taking them out to wash this coming Tuesday. I'ma do this for a month and see how much growth I have then I'll get some crochet braids next. I want my hair down my back this summer. Well, at least touching my back lol.

    Yes I can't detangle or do nothing to my hair unless it's wet or damp my roots especially are super dry and thick ... I moisturize my hair twice a week but I don't always use a comb or finger detangle I just use the prayer hand method and it gets the product through and loosen tangles I stopped wearing weaves and been using wigs for a year now and my hair is much thicker and my edges are much healthier and I'm the same way I wash my hair when I can I try to do it once a week but I do it when time allows since I'm a student and work and I have the same hair type as yours and I'm still learning because when I relaxed my hair my mom got mad and stopped doing my hair lol so I had many setbacks but I see the changes in my hair because UA-cam and Instagram is so healthful thank u for sharing ! You are hair goals lol

    I like to stick with low manipulation too. I have a mixture of 4b and 4c hair and my hair LOVES to be left alone. I wash my hair and deep condition my hair on Sunday. After I am finished washing, I use a leave in conditioner with some oils and sleep with a satin bonnet at night. I'm 13, so wearing a wig would be to mature for me, so I wear cute turbans and I want to collect more of them too. If my scalp is feeling dry during the week, I will do a hot oil treatment. Usually everyday I massage my scalp and I'm ordering a scalp massager so it will be easier. I can't wait to start seeing some length retention😁

    I really enjoyed watching this video. It's the best I've seen so far explaining in depth what a natural girl needs to do to grow her hair. I am tender headed my self so I try not do too many things to my transitioning hair, because it gets easily stress too. So thank you very much for sharing these pointers; I'll be sure to try them on my natural hair journey.

    Hey NaturallyTemi, you gave great tips! I was just wondering how you preserve your twist outs or braid outs if you don't rebraid/retwist each night. I have type 4 hair and I'm only 15 so I just recently started taking my own hair. How can I keep it from tangling at night? Love your videos!!!

    Very good tips, especially about minimum hair manipulation. The less I bother with my hair, the quicker my hair grows. I also do not wash my hair often. I wash my hair once a month minimum. I keep my scalp oiled, my hair moisturized. I eat fairly well, lots of veggies, fruits, fish/chicken, nuts. Thanks for sharing....God Bless!!!!!

    Finally, someone on UA-cam with a similar hair texture as mine! I too did the big chop in 2012 and have been able to grow my hair past bra strap. I usually keep my hair in twists for low manipulation but I’m getting bored and my husband doesn’t like wigs/weaves. Can you do a video showing some of the styles or accessories you use during the week for low manipulation? Thanks so much! Love your hair!!

    Your hair is gorgeous Darling! ❤️❤️. You mentioned about being tender headed and I have mostly been that way all my life. I actually have a scalp condition now that may be related to it years after but I did learn that I have inflammation issues throughout my body. So what I think is behind both the tender headedness and my scalp condition is the inflammation which can cause soreness of the scalp. However, each one of these would be at different levels of inflammation. I found that Sulfur 8 grease calms my scalp down when it is inflamed. That is one of the only products I use that is old school and not natural but really works with scalp issues. It's better than me using that medicated shampoo that my Dermatologist wants me to use. 🙄👎🏽👎🏽 I hope this helps. 😊

    Hi. Love your hair and it gives me hope. I wanted to ask...1) Do you trim your hair and how often do you trim it if you do?!. 2) Do you deep condition your hair?! Cos I tried do it, however, I am quite skeptical about the effect it might have on my hair as my hair is soft and has a rather fine texture so it breaks very easily. Should I still go for it or just condition it whenever I shampoo my hair?! 3) How long do you leave your protective hairstyles in?! Is it between 4-6 weeks?! And 4) What type of hair products do you use and how many do you use?!

    I hate the idea that combing/doing your hair routinely is bad for your hair, thus you need protective styling (wigs, weaves, braids). There is not another race that subscribes to that! So, we love and embrace our hair but "can't" or prefer not to actually wear it because it shouldn't be manipulated or because it's too hard (I've heard that one) or because it's too time-consuming...

    • @letyjay9715
      @letyjay9715 7 років тому +1

      i think there is a misunderstanding on your translation of protective styling. it all depends on your hair goals, if your goal is hair lenght, it is a fact our hair doesnt like being manipulated so combing and all that falls under that. to retain lenght protective styling helps. if you have reached your desired length, whatever that is, everyone is different, you can do styles and show off your hair. either way, protective styling or not not, its all embracing your hair. you dont have to wear it all the time to classify as someone that embraces their natural hair.

    • @ShelbySteele23
      @ShelbySteele23 7 років тому +1

      loveshopping4stuff But its also true for other races when they are trying to grow out their hair. Trim, protect, moisturize (just not as much), no/low heat, chemical free, etc.

    The stands you stretched below your bra line appear to be 12 inches; if that's the case, that means that from 2012 to 2016 (4 years), that section of your hair grew 3 inches/year (0.25/month). 💅 I just watched your most recent video in May 2020; 4 years later - your beautiful hair has grown another 12 inches!!! 👑

    I just cut my hair off. Every time I would try to detangle it ,I would see a lot of shedding and it was very dry with dandruff and huge flakes.

      Ms. Chocolate Try deep conditioning with honey and olive oil. Also, try a scalp detox google the specifics I do one with cinnamon, baking soda, and olive oil. Keep an eye on what you eat and scalp changes. More bread and sugar in my diet I notice dandruff. When I eat less I don't see the dandruff. Hope this helps. sorry so long

    great Video, im a hair stylist ...your hair is 90% protein when it is natural...too much protein can break the hair, focus on just using moisturizing conditioner, the hair just need moisture. If the hair is process then for sure protien is important.

    I wish I could wear wigs to grow my hair but I'm 15 and no way my parents would let me wear wigs 😂 so I have to wear single braids I might try crochet but I need something that would last a while like 1-2months

      forever younng what she means is her parents wont let her wear wigs of any kind. @brittany Udegbu, crochet braids help and can stay for a month. theres a girl on your tube that shows how to do them in a way that you can actually refresh/redo the front part to keep them even longer.

    I do that every night every night omg cornrow every night smh. I've been natural since 012 and it's still the same length maybe even shorter which is frustrating but now I know why. So I'm going to rest it in 2017 see the progress. Thank You

    I wished I watched this before big chopping again. Everything you do, I've done since 2009 and I let people talk me into cutting it because it wasn't taken care of "healthily"🙄 it was down my back. At least I know now that I'm not crazy for listening to me hair and go against the average regime!!

    you have beautiful hair but I have a question because your hair is similar to mine. I try to stretch my hair buy putting my hair in 8 hair ties and braiding the rest of my hair. I've realized the back of my hair (roots) stretches a lot but some parts of my hair is so tangled and I can't even part it, let alone conrow it. do you have any tips?
