  • I've been hitting on this topic for a few videos now, and I want to keep it going. This is such a minor thing in the grand scheme of collectibles, but when you start narrowing down on just the topic of sports autographs, it is suddenly is a HUGE DEAL!
Do you want your once-in-a-lifetime signed jersey to have a terrible looking signature on it? Absolutely not. But what do you do when you just don't know if the sharpie or paint pen you have will look good on that special jersey of yours? Wouldn't it be great if someone went through the trouble of testing that stuff out for you?
Well, I did exactly that! We are going to go through a list of sharpie and paint pen colors on a variety of jersey colors to see how they come out. So the next time you need an autograph put down on your jersey you will know exactly what pen to use! Lots of great information on today's Powers Sports Memorabilia Show!

JFC! I’ve watched like 3 of your videos. I’m just trying to figure out what kind of pen to use to sign a jersey. Like teammates signing someone’s jersey to say goodbye, and everything is about the numbers or balls or cards. Why is this so hard. He’s the solution I’ve finally ended with… I’m going to buy a bunch of pens on Amazon and just test them to find out.

Great video! I have one small question. I have an European football shirt with heat pressed numbers. Will a silver and/or gold Edding 750 paint marker do the job (on the number or jersey itself)? Or should I use a silver/gold Sharpie (on the number or jersey itself)? Or just a simpleblack Edding 3000 pen? I look forward to hearing from you and wish you a lovely day :)

Screen printed numbers I prefer to get signed on the jersey itself. Depends on who makes the jersey, but often times ink skips or doesn’t stick well to the material. Sharpie I have found is a bit better than paint pen if you do a screen printed number.

@@PowersSportsMemorabilia Thank you very much for your quick reaction! I will try to get the autograph on the jersey itself as you prefer:). Would you then recommend the paint marker or Sharpie on the jersey itself? Thanks again :))))

Great video. I have a question about a replica jersey I like to have autographed. I couldn't afford the authentic jersey with the sewn on numbers etc. Anyway, my replica jersey is with white numbers. The numbers are heat pressed on to the jersey. The numbers feel like vinyl. What kind of pen would you recommend for an autograph?

Screen printed ones are tough. Sharpie most likely. Or get it signed on the jersey itself

Thanks for the information again. I have a questions I'm bidding on a signed NFL Helmet. It has the NFL officially licensed sticker hologram with serial number. Can you tell me where I can verify that or if those are real. Thanks Scott

Hey I’m getting a Nashville stadium series jersey signed, (smashville) should I use the typical black sharpie? Idk what the numbers are made out of, thanks for the vid tho!

Should you pep a jersey before signing? I heard spraying the area you want signed with acrylic spray so the autograph can stick better. Any truth to that?

At 2:27 I feel you may contradict yourself?! You say black and blue are better colours to last long term , but are the least fade resistant. Wouldn’t least fade resistant mean they fade faster? The most fade resistant would mean they don’t fade quickly?!

My experience has been that the $300 plus Authentics are generally OK for the paint pens. However, I don’t think it really matters. Obviously if you’re going to do silver, that’s a better choice with a paint pen.
