What do you think of the Minichamp?

cuticle pusher extended with pen is very comfy, i think thats why they added that tool

That's a good option instead of the combo tool!

I considered a Midnight Manager and a Mini Champ, but in the end went with a Rambler as this was the sweet spot in size (for a key ring) and useful tools for me. I definitely feel like some tools on the Champ are there to pad out the feature list, and Victorinox could probable come up with some better replacements.

The rambler is definitely a more manageable size, I don't like putting 58mms on my keys personally, so it's not as much of a factor for me.
I think, sadly, Victorinox is stuck in a loop of reusing existing tools, discontinuing existing product lines, and just coming up with new visuals. The only real hope we've had recently was when they gave the Plier tools OHO blades and pocket clips.

Ramblers are almost perfect. The lack of a pen was a no starter for me unfortunately.

Really like my mini champ, very useful little pocket tool kit when I want to go light weight. Went with the alox version as prefer the aesthetic of it, did look at the rambler but the alox mini champ comes in at the same size but you do loose the scale tools while gaining the extra main tools, some of which are useful! Mines paired with an olight ir2 for a mini carry set.

That's a fine pairing! I like the scale tools personally, but you could always just carry normal pen and something like Uncle Bills Sliver Grippers.
      Thanks for watching!

I'm trying to determine whether I need the MiniChamp over the Rambler which I carry on my keychain. The main draws are pen and secondary blade, though I'd be quite happy without the spatula and possibly either ruler or orange peeler.

It sounds like something like a Manager might be if interest to you? I use the Midnite version, personally: pen, light, main blade, combo tool, scissors, file/screwdriver

There's Classic and Classic SD (Screwdriver) model, that's why you have both screwdriver/ruler and nail cleaner/file on the MiniChamp because you can't clean your nails with flat tip. MiniChamp could be made slimmer by removing secondary blade, "the spoon" and/or ruler. I wish it had led light like some models. I also like package opener.

I'm aware of the normal Classic, but it's pretty hard to get nowadays, seems like the default is SD. To really make the Minichamp thinner you'd probably have to remove a fair amount, since you'd need to move something from the driver/scissor side to bring down the thickness.
A midnite version of the minichamp would be nice, you can buy the scales online to do it as a project, but it would make the wee guy even thicker!

You’re in luck! There appears to be one called the “Midnite Mini Champ”

I carry a sd classic daily with black scales I love it I been thinking of up grading but I am leaning to the alox cause they tend to not look as beat up

Silver Alox wears extremely well, the coloured ones look cool with a bit of wear too.
If you want to retain the scale tools you could also get some metal scales with scale tool slots, Titanium scales can be a little pricey but looks great and ages well.

A good little knife, but the 3 medical tools are a strange choice! Medical spatula, medicine bottle opener and tracheotomy knife.

Tripod plate tightener, box opener, backup knife.

I mean they had to stick 'em on _something_ 😅
The premise of a doctor's off-work multitool sounds good right up until you realise you'll *never* keep the thing sterile, so stuff like the tracheotomy knife becomes functionally useless.

Couple of useless tools on the Mini Champ, better off getting a Rambler.

I tend to agree, but Rambler is not available with Alox. I have a Vagabond (retired), which falls between the Mini Champ & Rambler.

I don't think there are any useless tools on this, just people with no imagination. Peace from Scotland

I use all the tools regularly, so technically, there are no useless tools on it. You'll find that they have very different uses than what they may have been intended for.
For example, I regularly work with cameras so the pill spatula / coke spoon works perfectly for tightening down tripod plate screws.
