I thought you were going to say that Susan was the strongest Pulgar until Judit turned 10. Judit was the youngest grandmaster ever at one point, surpassing Fischer until Karjakin took her crown.
Surpassing fischer and holding the record until *Bu Xiangqi* took her crown
Fixed that for you
Edit: nvm leko broke it and then bacrot and ponomorriov before bu
As a Hungarian I appreciate you pronouncing Budapest correctly
1989 was a very good year for me as a homeless guy in NewYorkCity --- selling stuff on 6th ave & hanging out in WashingtonSquarePark playing & watching chess-games.
I remember seeing a chess documentary once, mainly about Fischer, and Sofia Polgar spoke about how he stayed at the Polgar house for a while, and how he was acting crazy often. And they showed a blitz tournament where Sofia was playing and beating an older Korchnoi, who got mad and then they trash-talked a bit, that was fun to watch.
So is that documentary on the web? Could you share a link or give the name?
Ben, I just wanted to say that, not only I got the Dire Straits joke, but I also predicted the punchline before you said it, and yes, it got a big smile out of me. A great song from a mindblowing album!
I would watch just for the stories, never mind the chess. I also got the Dire Straits joke, but then I am even older than Ben...
So far away...
Ben is so good, he has TWO mics!
One for each of ya!
That's cuz he has at least one "drop the mic" moment per lecture.
Come for the rambling anecdotes, stay for the insightful analysis
or vice versa
Man, Susan was good! I hardly ever attain total demolishing crushingness in my games.
Another excellent video. Thanks Ben. Hey, who doesnt have the Brothers in Arms LP?
"Who wouldn't want to live in Lubbock?"
Lovely intro Ben, very insightful.
i think it is very telling that I could think about the position for days and never see the lines Susan was probably able to spot withing a couple of minutes.
Me with some crazy comment.
First game, Bf5 would have been interesting to analyze, stopping Ke4. Second game, Bf3 with the idea of Bh5 could have temporarily stopped the rook mate
Go Ben!
go ben!
nice "sopranos" reference in there 6:41
Having solved thousands of puzzles this year, my first instincts were bishop b6, and rook e7.😊
She beat Magnus with pure tactics alone.
That last game was delicious. Four queens, vhat else? Just the fifth queen playing White!
Yes 4 Queens, amazing!
Maybe Judit kept bringing in her pet to *determine* if it was a dog or cat. Not so straightforward sometimes.
i like the video
I really wish that the Queens Gambit series was about the Polgar sisters
❤️ for Susan, if Susan sacrifices a piece resign.
i wanna see a 30-minute video of GM Ben Finegold where all he does is wondering whether Susan Polgar moved to the US 30 years ago or not
23:40 can't take knight 1. ... Kxf7 2. Qg7+ Ke8 3. Bf6 Rxf6 (other black moves lose queen) 4. gxf6 threatening mate on g8 or loss of queen
🎉Hey, I was also born in 1969😅😊
Susan Polgar is alright looking =)
So far I just can't see
Isn't amin bassem also a doctor?
He's the other one he was alluding to
He got sidetracked by Sherzer since they were childhood friends
I look forward to the day they make a "Great Players of the past - Benjamin Blackgold" - EXPOSIVE!! ;) ;) ;)
3:36 I would say Mikhail
Should I feel old if I have that exact shirt hanging in my closet ?
At the rate the quality of "great" players of the past is falling even patzers like us hav a chance to be "great"
How long is your Wikipedia article?
I can pronounce your last name, so probably not very good.
Susan Polgar is alright looking =)
