- What is Roti Bakar Coklat Keju? We love exploring new cultures through their foods! Once we got settled into our hotel, we hit the streets in search of dinner and desserts. In this video, we try a variety of dishes at Rumah Makan Sulawesi Baru. We still never figured out what we ordered in the green leaves! It tasted good, though, like a fish tamale! If you know what that is called, please let us know in the comments. After many dishes, we walked the streets to Pantai Losari Beach, found some flashing cars for the kids to ride around in, and then went in search of dessert! We went to several food stalls looking for Pisang Epe, but we didn’t go far enough before we got hungry! We ended up getting this $1 Indonesian Dessert called Roti Bakar Coklat Keju! Watch this video to see what that is and what else we ordered. We had a great time just walking around the city. We felt safe and met lots of nice people.

I'd say limit their sugary snacks and beverages. I have nieces and nephews who liked veggies and all kind of fruits until they got a bit bigger and became picky eaters. They stopped appreciating natural taste.
Happened to me the opposite way. I appreciate natural tastes of food more after I limit my sugary snacks and beverages.
It's supposed to be "Selamat malam" for "Good evening". Yet appreciate you were trying greeted in Indonesian.
For vegetarian options, you can go for gado-gado, ketoprak, tahu, tempe, capcay, cah taoge (stir fried beansprout), or cah kangkung (typically served in seafood restaurant -- one of my fav).

Why do I love Indonesia? This is informations.
You know, Mother Nature in this country is the mastermind behind major natural disasters that can hit many countries and cause many fatalities, not just 1 or 100 times, but more than that. Example : Tsunami 2004 start from Indonesia impact 20 countries (To Africa).
When I was a teenager, at the high school level I always studied and read books about nature in a library located in Europe. I found a book that said "Tambora The Years Without Summer" then also found a book that said "Krakatoa". Both of these books tell about nature and its brutality at the same time. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally.
I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) :
>Year 2022 = 1.421 (Period Jan - Jun).
>Year 2021 = 3,058
>Year 2020 = 2,925
>Year 2019 = 9,375
>Year 2018 = 3,397
>Year 2017 = 2,341
>Year 2016 = 2,342
>Year 2015 = 1,682
Total natural disasters for 8 years = 26.541 (This is the most violent, brutal and deadly category in the world because of calculations in 1 country, not Chile/Japan).
I became very interested in the history recorded by the International and finally I bought a textbook on natural disasters in Indonesia written by European researchers, scientists and historians. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history.
If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions.
List of natural tourist attractions in Indonesia that I have visited.
1). Krakatoa. (My favorite volcanoes).
2). Tambora.
3). Aceh Museum Tsunami 2004.
4). Weh Island.
5). Lematang Lampung.
6). Ranau.
7). Anyer.
8). Ujung Kulon.
9). Lancang Island Jakarta.

But that's all only 2% of all tourist attractions in Indonesia, it's very crazy.
Indonesia is a complete and very diverse tour package in large quantities. Even on trains, buses, airplanes, and ships, you can see different views from one country. It's really crazy, like going to another country but still in the same country. Imagine in 1 city and even then there are many tourist attractions. What about Indonesia as a whole? Millions of tourist attractions. Therefore, many people misunderstand tourism in Indonesia because it is too much and varied. Then you will find something unique and strange, at least go on 30 different trips to tourist attractions in Indonesia and I am sure you will have a much more extraordinary experience and lasting memories.

Did you know if we look at the map of the Indonesia territory, it's like a person / Jinn who sleeps on his back.
Sumatra : Feet.
Kalimantan : Stomach.
Jawa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara : Spine.
Sulawesi : Bosom.
Maluku : Neck.
Papua : Head.
Other small islands : Acne.
Not only that, Indonesia has more than 500 volcanoes = Active, inactive and underwater. (Overall).
QUEEN MOTHER NATURE IN INDONESIA 10/10 (Mother Nature in Indonesia when viewed 100% is very colossal).
Nature in Indonesia is really insane very different class categories, there is a saying that says :
(Indonesia is the throne Queen Mother Nature).
There is even a study that has visited 400 tourist attractions in Indonesia and it is only 10% for him. From Sabang Sumatera to Merauke Papua (in 1 country) is expensive and long distance. It costs the same as you flying from Egypt to Dubai or Jakarta to South Korea or Spain to Belarus.
Indonesia was originally not an archipelago but a mainland called SUNDALAND (Western side of Indonesia) and SAHULLAND (Eastern side of Indonesia). However, 70% of the land was sunk into the ocean.
The territory of Indonesia is 60% sea, 30% (Forests, Volcanoes, Caves, Waterfalls, Rivers, Lakes, Mountains, Forests, Deserts, Cliffs and Canyons) and 10% Man-made.
The total area of Indonesia is 8.5 million km² (Including land, sea and EEZ). The coastline of Indonesia is more than 98.000 km² (The calculation of 55,000 km² is a very wrong calculation because it is not from research calculations but from ordinary people who only guess). Even Indonesia has a lot of "National Parks for rehabilitation, conservation and nature reserves".
Did you know that on the island of Bali itself it is estimated that there are more than 450 tourist attractions that you can visit. That's why many people compare Bali tourism with other countries (Even though Bali is one of the islands in Indonesia).
In fact, in Indonesia, a lot tourist attractions (100% overall) is more than 4.800.000 - 6.100.000 (This is a total of the craziest nature in the world, that's why Indonesia has been named the MOST BEAUTIFUL NATURE IN THE WORLD AND ALSO THE MOST BRUTAL) Imagine how crazy nature is in Indonesia that is not Humanity can fully explain it. Imagine that from the past until now, nature in Indonesia has been studied by many countries. Therefore, Indonesia is called prehistoric land by the International. In one country, there are things that are different, varied, many strange and whatever.
Indonesia is HEAVEN and HELL which collide with each other simultaneously, has 2 different sides. Traveling to Indonesia is not just about a relaxing and exciting travel experience, it is much deeper and more than that. You can even feel disappointed, emotional, confused, sad, tired, give up, smile, laugh, afraid, goosebumps, satisfied and others at the same time.
The number of victims of natural disasters in Indonesia in 1 year :
>(2022) is 1.4 million people.
>(2021) is 8.4 million people.
>(2020) is 945 people.
>(2019) is 3.721 people.
>(2018) is 10.32 million people.
>(2017) is 52.930 people.
>(2016) is 6 million people.
>(2015) is 22.773 people.

I noticed your wife is vegetarian and wanted to recommend a few dishes that are served at nearly all restaurants in Indonesia. Tahu (tofu) goreng (fried) and also tempeh. Very delicious in Indo cuisine. Also I noticed you seem to like peanut sauce so I'm sure by now you have tried gado-gado but if not definitely try it! Also karedok and ketoprak are different versions of similiar vegetarian dishes. Although they come spicy so ask for less or not spicy when you order! I'm still watching all your videos so I don't know what all you guys have tried yet. Also highly recommend es teler (it's a sort of dessert/drink with mixed fruits and decliousness) Happy eating!

Btw, Makassar people or most Indonesian will call sprawn and shrimp with "Udang", no differentiation even it small or big one 😊.

Sepertinya anda harus mencoba masakan khas PEKALONGAN yg ada di jawa tengah.nasi megono pak bon,soto tauco, tempe goreng mendoan,lontong ayam opor alun alun kauman,nasi kebuli kapuas,garang asam masduki(daging sapi) dan masih banyak lagi

Tahu (tofu) goreng (fried), bakar (grilled)
Tempe (soybean cake)
Sayur (vegetable): terong (eggplant/aubergines), kangkung (morning glory) kailan, toge or tauge (bean sprout)
You can ask for Tumis (stirfry), goreng (fried), bakar (grilled). Safest is garlic (bawang putih) stirfry or tumis bawang putih otherwise it will have some anchovies/ebi/prawn

Losari beach at night time usually full of people and i'm quite surprised to see it that dark 😂. Also i'd suggest you to visit the cpi (central point) its not far from the losari beach and the scenery is so beautiful too (would be nice to see you take a walk with you fam there). Sate... you eat sate with peanut sauce. Its really good. Then, a fish flavour which is wrapped with banana leaf that we call is otak-otak
"rumah makan" literally means "eat house" aka restaurant. This restaurant my family refers to as "ayam goreng Sulawesi" or "Sulawesi fried chicken" and is a MUST every time we're "back home". Their otak-otak is my favorite.
The otak-otak was delicious! The kids really enjoyed the fried chicken. So yummy!
Restaurants/warung in indonesia usually have tempe and tahu if you want vegan menus. Or just ask for their 'sayur' menus which means veggie dishes.
