Another common cause of rear end crashes is a lead vehicle that stops in a travel lane. This can be very dangerous for the driver approaching the stopped vehicle. Even if they can see the vehicle and notice that they are getting closer, they may not realize that the vehicle is not moving until it is too late. This is because our eyes have a limited ability to judge depth and speed with only 2.5 inches of separation. When drivers see a slower moving vehicle ahead, they often look at their mirrors and plan to change lanes. But while they are doing that, they are not looking to the road ahead, and they may be closing the gap too fast (unbeknownst to them). Every day, six people die on U.S. highways when they hit a vehicle in the travel lane that is going 0 to 10 mph while they are going 55 to 70 mph. So, please, if you have a breakdown or a minor accident, get off the highway and move to the shoulder… PLEASE! It could save your life.
Man this just happened to my son & his girlfriend last week. Truck in front of him & stopped car ahead of truck . Truck swerves out the way and my son hits 2022 acura mdx. He gets ticket pitiful👎👎
I’m gonna have to say huge stinks because I just got in an accident in Baytown Texas were lady was sitting at a red light with her right blinker on the light changed. I was about 30 feet from behind her I didn’t see brake lights on her vehicle from as far back as I was, I only saw the turn signal, which means to me that she was rolling forwards about 80 feet in front of us. There was police officers, it look like they were moving or block in traffic for construction. I’m definitely going to say that she didn’t have brake lights because she was stopped and I saw her turn signal and I saw the light was green, so I thought she was gonna turn after the light.
00.43 one driver tried that when my daughter was in front of him. As soon as he started passing, she slowed down to give him room (we were on a two-lane road) and she has faster reflexes. He was alone in his car and we were all in her car, so his pitiful little scheme wouldn't have worked, but it's just the point.
Sudden lane change or driving in right turning lane wrongly?
What if both cars back out. Whos at fault the first one to back out or the one who backs out after?

about a month ago I was exiting the highway, and to the right of the off ramp there is a street that runs parallel which merges with my lane. they have two yield signs, one on each side of the road, that gives people coming off the ramp the right of way. its a very dangerously designed intersection because people use that road as if its an on ramp to cross over my lane and get onto the highway I was leaving.
so I'm exiting, theres a guy in front of me a safe distance away, and these cars coming in on the right are just blowing through the yield signs at near merging speeds, one after another. I have to keep shifting my head back and forth to look at the guy in front of me and then back to the idiots who are about to sideswipe us until eventually I'm looking back for too long and didn't notice that the guy in front of me had had to slam on his brakes. I ended up rear ending him with minor damage, but it pisses me off that I was at fault even though the cars that weren't yielding forced us both into a dangerous situation
Learned this lesson years ago. Car merged into my lane and to avoid him, I hit a retaining wall. The driver was find "not at fault". My insurance adjuster friend told me then that if I want my car wrecked, then at least allow someone else to do it. So the lesson here? Maintain your lane and speed and then the inevitable accident would have had the inevitable person at fault.

So many cars are driving at dark with just the front small headlamp/clear marker lights on and NO tail lights, auto makers need to correct this problem!
No, the drivers need to correct this problem.
so make a system that detects if it's dark so the car would cost more and more parts that can fail? This is what you want?

Hi my husband hit a car from the back but he said the lady suddenly slammed her breaks yellow light she kind of passed the lights she staged she break she didn’t want to get ticket because light has camera so who fault . Plus when my husband saw that she break my husband try to avoid by swirling the car to prevent .
what happen when the front car rolled back on an uphill and lie about it?
I am driving with rear damage since the other driver drove off, its not worth money wise to try to fix it with my insurance cause it would be 3 rd claim in 1 year,i would rather drive with damaged rear than no insurance.
What if a car is stopped on the highway next to the shoulder no hazards on . A truck in front of you swerves out the way at the last moment & you hit the dumb stopped car??
What if i was coming out from a store parking lot. I was making sure my clearance from left to right is clear from the highway. And i merge out making my right turn. The vehicle came straight impact back of my vichule? Whos faults? Its a two lane road.
I've brake checked vehicles but I don't do it to cause an accident, I do it to people who are less than a car length behind me when I am going the speed limit. I hit the brakes and then go right back to the gas to get back up to speed, and if that doesn't work I let off the gas and slow down in 5mph increments until either they back off or pass.
What if the car in front was crossing 3 lanes to make a left hand turn and was in the middle median when struck by another driver
Real situation that happened to me. Had to swerve onto the shoulder to miss a car spun out in the middle of the road. Another car was also on the shoulder with nothing wrong. 11:40 at night and no hazards I barely missed the spun out car but caught the rear end of the other. Again neither driver had hazard lights on to indicate to others to slow down or move over. Who is at fault
Who is a fault if a car suddenly stops- the second car hits that car that suddenly stops - and I am the 3rd car and I couldn't stop on time and I hit the middle car.
Two seperate accidents.
You are at fault for hitting the car that hit the first car. The second car is at fault for hitting the first
Better hope that you have witnesses or video, otherwise, chances are, you will be held responsible for virtually all of them.

When a car in front of you crashes into a car in front of them and stops faster than it possibly can when braking, you should not be considered at fault for hitting that car. This video did not address this case.
Maybe. Perhaps. It is possible. You never know. Could be....maybe is your fault. Maybe not..........
Insurance companies usually will say it’s 50/50 fault.

Not really,I was in a rear collision accident and the driver behind me was 100 at fault. We both had the same insurance. She called it in first as well as gave pics, soo did I.
Seen multiple videos of cars break checking causing a collision. In each video the creator claims the brake checker got the ticket. Never seen one otherwise.
