    Is there a downside to putting an AVC or HEVC decoder chip in there and just use the GPU encoder or a streaming app in ultrafast lossless mode? Even tuned for zero latency, should be the same visual quality at a much lower bitrate.

      @@theendurance Do you realize every movie and its audio is lossy encoded? How bad is the best looking video you watched on this platform? Just give every display NIC hardware and a media decoder chip. If it's UHD or better, a four core CPU of the latest gen for whatever the decoder doesn't support; it will likely have a decoder ASIC built in.

    I tried a G8 with 4k 240hz and I was shocked how bad 240hz looked in comparisson to my PG279QM with also 240hz.
    It doesn' t look smooth, I tried every settings but it didn't improve. Then i started thinking: How is this even possible 4k and 240hz, I have a 4090 wit dp1.4, so only 32,4gbit/s is possible, but 4k 10bit 240hz need around 60gbit/s then I found out about DSC.
    They are cheating to get "240hz" but it's not real 240hz.
    I don't care if people say it is lossless and you can't tell the difference to non-DSC, probably these are the same people who said the human eye can't see more then 24fps.
    Maybe DSC is working when you have to save up to 20% in bandwidth but definitelly not if you have to double the bandwidth

      I’m looking into the asus pg27aqn which is 1440p 360hz 8bit, will I get similar issues with a dp1.4 x 3090? should I wait for more hdmi 2.1 monitors so say fuck all and wait till nvidia release dp2.1 on their products? I’m using a Samsung g7 1440p 240hz but I also use the 10bit while enables dsc but I can switch to 8bit and turn dsc off, correct??? is compression worse with 1440 and 360 then with 4K 240 10bit??? Please any help would be appreciated! I’m looking for a new display under $1500. Mini led is soon to release on a 32” 1440p 300hz but that will also need higher gbit/s…correct? the 3090 only supports up2 dp1.4 and hdmi 2.1 so I’m very limited with this card even 40XX series do not have dp2.1 only AMD 60XX. I’m contemplating going with 0.1gtg Oled 1440 175hz 35” Ultrawide while using a dp1.4/hdmi 2.X

      @Bigburgy 2 роки тому +1

      @@nc33228 2540x1440p 240hz 10Bit needs : 26.37gbit/s, so dp1.4 is good enough. I think the more you have to compress the bandwith the worse.
      I got the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ yesterday and its amazing, It supports up to 138hz with DSC and 120hz without it. It feels more smooth then the G8 with 240hz and image quality is also way superior. I wouldn't go for 1440p 360hz even though dp1.4 would be fast enough if you choose 8bit, because I just found out that OLED looks with 100fps less still better. And another benefit is, 60fps feels also a lot smoother, so this monitor is not only good for gaming, it is also nice for youtube.
      The next upgrade for me will be maybe a oled (or micro LED if possible) 4k with 240hz, but only with dp2.1 and a 50xx GPU.
      Regarding your Oled 1440 175hz 35” Ultrawide, I think this is also a very good monitor. I read about that the pixel matrix is different to LGs OLED and text clearity is not that good, but I think the pros of this panel prevail the cons.

      @@Bigburgy paired with my 3090 x10850k I main competitive fps games so using a older TN and g7 isn’t the best for latency, oled has a 0.1ms color to color response time so that amazing but for competitive fps that doesn’t matter as much but it DOES look smoother, oled 144hz >old ips 240hz… BUT the new asus ips tech is very very good input latency. I will buy oled when 50 series is released and hardware will support dp2.1 @ 80bit/s so that can truly get oled 4K 175-200hz

      DSC is a joke and an outright scam/fraud to be honest, given the fact that there isn't a way to disable it or even check if it is active. Even if you set your resolution and refresh rate within spec for the corresponding DP / HDMI version, it may actually kick in because of a shitty plug or cable for example and there's no way of knowing. The manufacturer of the source or sink may also have skipped on complying to the full bandwidth specification because it requires specific pricey chips and firmware. It's up to the consumer to troubleshoot and maybe realize he's been screwed over.

    2019 LG C9 or 2020 LG CX is the way to go. OLED, 4K with a native 120Hz panel in HDR with Chroma 4:4:4, G-Sync COMPATIBLE (not the same as G-Sync Ultimate), full HDMI 2.1 ports (sadly no DisplayPort whatsoever). If you don't play the same game for 20 hours per day every day, you shouldn't get any burn-in whatsoever. If anything, you can try disabling your HUD or making it more transparent if possible to lower the risk of burn-in.
    P.s. I think Best Buy offers warranty that covers Burn-in.

      In Saudi the c9 and b9 was like 700 dollars but it was at the back of the store and know one wanted it because the manager would just tell the everybody asking for the best tv that the best of the best tv where at the front, and I was very confused why some sort of tv was in the front of the store not even an oled or a qled tv, and me being an intellectual child I searched for the best tv, I was looking for the lg oled series specifically c9 or b9, I was shocked it was on sale and was like 700 dollars I was very happy
      This is the day I saved my parents from being scammed by the Indian manager(disclaimer the tv’s on the front were like not even sale they were around 15% to 25%and the tv on the back din’t even have a sale sticker and in there website they din’t even say the oled tv where on sale)so it was a win win for me and a lose lose for them
