Our pleasure! Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! I'm heading across the ;pond in a couple of weeks - I love American IPAs!
The Wetherspoons Six Chimneys has recently had a £3 million refurbishment. Average pint price is £2.63. The secret video shop bar is a lovely civilised bar but you pay for it - the prices are extortionate. What Im seeing more of in Wakefield are London prices averaging £5+ for a pint. Not a good idea, I mean come on it's Wakey. We have 42 food banks in the area plus high unemployment, refugee influx etc.
Wakefield not many good pubs around there. Harry’s Bar is a good one which you missed entirely. What you need to do is get out to Ossett and Horbury (2 miles from Holmefield Arms). You have many great pubs there. You’ve got Ossett Tap, Victoria, the new Brewers Pride (all Ossett Brewery) down the road in Horbury you have Cherry Tree ( Horbury Brewery), Cricketers, Boons, Calder Vale hotel (Luddite Brewery), The Bingley. One of the best real ale pub crawls in the country can be had in Ossett and Horbury. Unfortunately the Labour Council largely ruined Wakefield with lack of vision and Ossett and Horbury is where it’s at.
Like the rest of the city, the pubs reflect the decline of the district. Like many Wakefield residents I'm heartbroken far too often at what I see. Unfortunately it's the same story up and down Britain because of the standard of politicians we've been lumbered with for the past 25+ years. Last 14 years especially
Again Wetherspoons Broken Bridge is the jewel in the Ponty pub crown, but over the last year they've been opening several trendy wine bar type places using old disused shops as locations. All well and good except they're also applying London pricing policies to pay for it all.
Thank you for Pub Crawling in Wakefield. I agree that Fernandes looks like an incredible pub! From across the pond, "Cheers!!"
Our pleasure!

Can't believe Deano took you into the Strafford arm 😂
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! It was a disgrace!
You missed the other Osset pub … the hop
To many light 'golden' ales that taste like grapefruit.
Oops! It's The Black Rock, Scott, not Rod.
It is a decent boozer but admittedly I haven't been in for a few years. Fernandes is crackin' though.
Thanks for your comment - and apologies for the delay in replying! Yes I realised the next day! Oops!
You miss the whole Westgate run..... The run of pubs into town is better than town itself!
