Unbelievable… you just sold a synth… when I first got Tera Pro, and all its updates, I honestly thought I would never buy another iPad synth app. But this thing is just as versatile, and it seems to be a lot more intuitive to work with; THANK YOU for an incredibly detailed review/tutorial; gonna buy this thing as soon as I can spare the $$$.
I'm so proud to have been involved (in a small way) with helping Arto build this incredible synth... and delighted to see just how much Jakob loves it! Great video.
🤩 Did you just make ButterSynth ultimate guide! The most awesome Swedish guy making the most awesome review/tutorial for the most awesome Synth… a hell of awesomeness! ❤😅 I have to watch this over and over. Thank you Master Jakob 👊🏼
I picked this up yesterday and can honesty say that it is brilliant. £20 for a synth of this quality is such good value. There are a couple of bad reviews on the App Store but I have not run into any issues running it on my iPad Pro M2 or my iPad 2021. Neither standalone or using it in Cubasis. This is a must buy, IMO.
Extremely deep wave tables…ha..more like extremely deep creative genius is what you bring to the table…and never fail in this..thanks for the many years of bringing to light iPad apps and knowledge..best overall…great music by ya too…stay blessed…
Hi Jacob, I have a question; I cannot find a way to export a wave table. When I get to ‘import export single’ in the wavetable editor, I get access to the file manager of the iPad, but there is no way to save the selected wave form. Please help, you owe me! You made me buy four synthesisers for iPad. :-)
JH great video as always, Butter Synth was an insta-buy for me! Small bug I noticed in the MIDI CC Mapper both standalone/AUv3, the displayed text is in too large a font to read properly. I’m telling you as I know the developer and I could not see a way to report this via the usual ways. Thanks again…
Jakob, you always have a knack for demonstrating synths more musically than anyone else does. Beautiful use of the app, which really helps us to hear what it can really do for us. Thanks! 😊
I like Arto's attention to the look of Buttersnyth, with the drop shadows under the knobs, imparting a bit more 3D than we usually see in apps, these days.
WOW, it looks incredible, but I’m interested in what it can actually sound like. I have built up a large collection of iOS synths over the years, most of them are ~ok~ Great video, very intuitive 👍
IOS synths are getting mature. This is the first synth that can compete with vst synths like Serum, Sylenth1, ... Factory synth was also a good attempt with its matrix modulation but Buttersynth is one step beyond ! Thank you for your demo/tutorial!
Nah, IOS synths can't compete with top of the league VST's. I recently bought a 16GB ram 1TB SSD, Ten point 15inch Oled touchscreen 12th generation I7 laptop with 360 fold-able screen. Just to run the giants known as VITAL and SURGE XT.
Awesome vid Jakob!!! Will easily be the most versatile/powerful synth on iPhone. I love using my m1 but I tend to do a lot of sketching ideas on my iPhone 14 pro max. Very curious to see the cpu drain on iPhone . It’s a great synth, my only request would be to have some resizing tweaks implemented, especially now that it’s going to be on iphone
33:30 that reminded me of the way to create 2 voice patches for Novation Ultranova and actually the mod matrix also reminds me of the Nova interface ) It can become my fav synth. 42:46 that's enough, key zone editor, - take my money!!
A great video and description of a great synth. I preordered and when it arrived, the first thing I did was start editing straight from the basic sound that it started up with. The interface practically invites you -If you’ve had experience with synthesizers or not, it feels so well laid out and Its depth is so well balanced on the interface. It feels like the synth I’ve been waiting for and the sounds I’ve listened to on some of the presets really feel special. I have been waiting for a go-to synth on the iPad, and this is the first synth that’s felt like it wants to work with me. ButterSynth really describes this synth on a few levels.
Yes, I’m pushing the new iPad really hard but it’s so powerful it doesen’t even break a sweat. I feel spoiled and I. So grateful to the mobile music community for this amazing tool. It’s actually allowing me to work faster which saves time that I can reinvest into making the content better. 🥰🥰
Hey Jakob. Do you know if the App is usable on m1/m2 Macs also? Or did Arto not check the Mac compatibility for buttersynth? Seems really good btw - thanks for bringing this up!
This synth sounds amazing,it’s the first synth I have seen in a long time that is worth buying. The synth scape on IOS has been inundated with mediocre synths at best. This is a power house with sound quality to back it up.
It sounds great and has lots of sound design potential. What I don't understand is the obsession with tiny knobs, shadows, and the whole skeuomorphic approach. Why not design it to make use of the touch interface? I have more synths than I really need, but the ones I end up using are the ones with a well-thought-out UI. Right now, I don't see the point in buying yet another synth if it doesn't bring something new or interesting UI-wise.
@@Reis_mit I like the ones that use sliders instead of tiny knobs, like Skiiid. Gauss and hammerhead have really fun and intuitive interfaces. King of Fm ( and many Audiokit apps) has 4 pages (Main, PCM, EFX and SEQ) It isn't ground breaking but at least it's organized. Even though it isn't a synth, Korvpressor is a good example of an app that takes advantage of the touch interface. Samplr was great too
Just purchased April 2024 but had to get refund as unstable when used as AUv3 inside logic pro for iPad but disconnected several times and after freezing track it corrupted the recorded data.
Can anyone help. Not sure if this is what I am looking for. I'm a newbie to editing wavetables and I've been creating ones in vital where I have been modulating using keyframes to change wavetable position so a pad builds and evolves. Is this a similiar process? Can one assign randomness to the control of various parameters?
Great video Jakob. Thanks for somehow being concise but in depth at the same time! Usually takes me about a year to RTFM so this gives me a real head start! 😂 Still can’t believe this synth is coming to iPhone too!
I use SynthMaster 2 and I think this synthesiser compliments it. SynthMaster 2 does not offer deep wavetable editing in this way, and also no tweakable multi segment envelopes

It’s nothing new though is it , sounds the same pretty much as the rest.
It`s a powerhouse with an amazing featureset, but the sound lacks something imho. It sounds a little bit flat and uninspired to my ears.
Jakob, you always have a knack for demonstrating synths more musically than anyone else does. Beautiful use of the app, which really helps us to hear what it can really do for us. Thanks! 😊
Interesting app, very similar to Obsidian synth in Nanostudio2 in some ways.
And usable outside NS2
10:28 This is glorious. What an incredible run through of a really powerful synth. Awesome work man!
Thanks Bro! Its a real beast this one. It’s easy to get lost making sounds in here because there’s so much on offer.

Nope. I was wrong no M1/M2 approval
Is the sound potential as high as the ASM Explorer, sampling player not counted
No idea. I’ve never used the ASM. 😅
Looks like this is more powerful. Don't know if it sounds better, yet.
Outstanding synth AND video!
