  • Western military equipment worth billions of dollars has been sent to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February, and Forces News has the breakdown on its journey.
There's a huge, ongoing logistics operation to ensure tanks, artillery, Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS), ammunition and other stores end up in the correct hands.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Glen Grant, from Riga Business School, explains how much of it is taken by reception organisations and brought across the Polish border.

This is one of the elephants in the room that still baffles me about the war. The Poland-Ukraine border is not _very_ big; a bit over 500km long. But there's only like 8 active road border crossings. The Russians have been deploying lots of pretty long range precision weapons, and they surely have plenty capable surveillance satellites. So they _should,_ at least on paper, be plenty capable of detecting and tracking these these transports in real time and striking them quite reliably.
But they don't. It's almost like they're not even trying... (?) - If they worried about a risk of accidentally striking Polish/NATO territory and assets, then hitting them a good handful of km inside Ukraine would mitigate that risk.
It just seems so strange. They gladly spend 50-100 million (usd) worth of cruise and ballistic missiles in an hour or two, to strike shopping malls, schools, hospitals and residental buildings - but not logistics routes for incoming weapons?? You would think these transports and routes would be at the absolute top of the list of high value targets.
