Jon snow could've been knighted or an OBE new years honours but he refused to take such pagan outdated title

A giant among journalists. A man of honesty, and integrity. A man viewers could trust. Thank you Jon for all your reports over the decades.

Nothing but a legend for my entire adult life, truly the end of an era ✊🏼🖤
Yea, a spineless man who sucked up to woke leftists media. What a guy.
Innit?! Whenever I hear the channel 4 news theme tune, I instinctively hear John Show's plummy accent -
I’m a South African who lived in England from 1995 to 2008 and now lives in Australia. So I have a knowledge of at least three countries national TV station broadcasters. This man is/was the best anchor ever
@The505Guys Turned 18 and wanted to explore the world 🌍 enjoyed so much I’ve still not returned
My name is Bertie Woodcock, I am the president of the students Union at the University of Liverpool. Photos of Jon occupying university buildings during his time with us in protest of the Universities investments in Apartheid South Africa coat the walls of one of our hallways in the students union. A true legend from then till now.
Jon's departure is like a major bereavement. There was something really authoritative and reassuring about his presence, that will be sorely missed!!
A man of huge integrity. Fabulous journalist, documentarian and human being. Wishing you well on your retirement.
Establishment charlatan.
@@israeldiegoriveragenius2th164 no there are very few people like him out there he is one of the old school ones that actually holds political figures accountable.
@@israeldiegoriveragenius2th164 There will always be those like you who hate the truth and welcome corruption.
Jon Snow is scared of wh1te people, we all remember his reaction to pro Brexit demonstrations.
Snow routinely pushed for Washington's enemies to be overthrown, flip flopped on poppy-wearing and was eulogised by British heads of government, which tells one all they need to know.
It's pretty shameful to see so many adults gushing over an idol.
Jon's humanity always shone through. He offered respect and friendliness while interviewing with confidence and fearlessness - a difficult balance that was attributable to his personal charm. He was this wonderful British institution that was always there throughout my life. By now he'd become the most eminent and senior broadcaster in the UK. Very moving at the end to see his obviously genuine regard for the crew. Best wishes for his retirement!
The thing that stuck in my mind was how dishonest he was.
@@johnmorley6844 keep trolling trolling trolling
You cannot deny the truth the truth always comes out John snow was not a purveyor of the truth and the vast majority know that.
I met Jon Snow several times, living fairly close to him in north London. I first had the opportunity to chat while we shopped at Bumblebees whole food shop. To my great surprise he remembered me next time he saw me. We discussed food, bikes (he liked mine, I was honoured) and of course, news events. He was always a gentleman, really switched on, kind. A great man. Tall!
I met Jon Snow in 1945 just after the great famine. I asked him about his time in Game of Thrones. He pulled a knife out on me so I head butted him. I think it was him. Could have been Peter Snow?
I’m 26 and have been watching Channel 4 News for as long as I can remember. I honestly believe it is Jon and the team’s journalistic talent, integrity and thirst for truth that have inspired me to travel the world and see people as more than just ‘strangers’; I’m considering a career in journalism myself! Best of luck Jon and may we all recognise the service you have made to reporting the news as it really is ❤️
God bless you Jon Snow. You were a just man standing up for the oppressed in Palestine, Syria and globally. The prayers of many people are for you Sir. God bless you and Guide you in your ways
Jon Snow will be missed by many people in many countries. A man with integrity!
I'm happy to hear he's not quitting television and I look forward to seeing his future documentaries.
This is truly a sad day in British TV, news, politics and history! Jon Snow has been doing his best through his career to keep those in power accountable for their actions, asking the questions that so desperately need an explanation …. A giant of journalism has left ridiculously enormous shoes to fill! Enjoy your well earned retirement Mr Snow, you truly are the living embodiment of honesty, integrity and compassion.

I spent a couple of weeks doing renovations at Jon Snow's house in the 90's, he is genuinly as decent off screen as he is on it. Each morning he greeted us with a cuppa and a chat.
.
nice story - thanks for sharing
What a man! I agree that with the sentiment that one of your viewers commented, that Jon's sharpness and persistence with chasing the truth, gave us comfort as our vanguard. Thank you very Jon for your service.
"The best lefty of the telly" and far more embrassing and intelligent, I'm going to sorely miss your smooth voice, and truthfulness x
Yeah he really upset TPTB, especially Washington 🙄
Coming to the UK from Syria, I knew very little then about British journalism. This is until John Snow remarkably immersed my curious appetite for understanding the world around me in a sea of knowledge. He stretched this understanding in an unbiased, fair, courageous, intelligent and charming style of reporting. This rich and diverse style made him exceptionally accessible. His journalism is world class.
It has been an honour and privilege to have lived through a time with Jon at the helm on the box. Wish you all the best with the future Jon.
Well said.
And said it all.
I was a road bigger left that porfection and never even got a good bye.
Well as sad as it is to see him go, it's been a pleasure to watch him all these years, this got me right in the feels !
I've been a fan of Jon Snow since my early childhood, and I'm already missing him as Channel 4 News presenter.
Jon, I just want to wish you all the very best for the future and what endeavours there may be. Thank you, and have a Merry Christmas.
So sorry to hear. We’ll all miss you Seán ó Sneachta. You’ve been the voice and face of current affairs for me and a two whole generations. You’ll be sorely missed.
Grá mór as Eireann ❤️❤️
I second that indeed. Grá mór as Éirinn. A legend. Yip an Irish or gaelic version to his name Sean ó Sneachta is é Jon Snow. A true quality journalist.
Seriously, when I see Snow, I immediately noticed that he was better than the other journalists, WAY more. Such a great, humble man. 👋👍💕
A true English man! 💖
I can't believe he's not butter.
John Snow a man of great integrity in a country run by people currently...with none..who hated him...
Channel 4 News will never be the same without him, for me he is an honest journalist reporting real news if you compare this to other news institutions. He will be missed dearly. All the best Jon, true hero for us growing up watching you. #truth
And in the end, Winston learned to love Big Brother.
I discovered Channel 4 News 1985 when I commenced my studies in London. I have always enjoyed you and your co presenters, many years later and thanks to the evolving technology I was able to continue that enjoyment from Barbados. You have broaden my understanding of the world.
Thanks.
Thanks for the memories Jon - all the very best.
Thank you Jon. You leave us when journalism is in a perilous state. Your honesty integrity and humanity are an example to us all. Enjoy your retirement

a great servant to the public, a proper journalist, who never gave up his principles.
Saw the big man himself give a talk when I was at college and it was hands down one of the best live experiences I've ever had. A phenomenally interesting and charming man, on and off screen
Last of the real journalists.
Will be deeply missed more than any other journalist and presenter in modern times in Britain. He was firm but fair and humble in his reporting. Hope we , see him again in Big Fat Quiz of the Year!

Thanks for everything John. You are so inspiring to watch.
What a man. I don't want TV anymore but when I did c4 news was the best. He will be missed.
One of the best journalist, broadcaster ever! His search for truth, his honesty, integrity and empathy for others was beautiful to watch. I love Jon Snow and cried after watching Channel 4 news tonight.😢
His reports were seldom at odds with the BBC's.
Just a little criticism of Israel now and then.
@@beingsshepherd Truth is truth where ever it’s told and journalism is great wherever it may be. There is more depth to his journalism and he tells us about important news around the world that BBC sometimes do not mention. The fact that the current corrupt crony dishonest government who want less accountability and transparency are attacking BBC and C4 says it all, don’t you think!
I don't know what your measure of truth is, but much of C4 News's mandate is to elaborate on certain stories, this is no virtue on Snow's part.
Until the BBC and C4 enrage Washington (as RT does), I'll continue to put domestic bickering down to theatre, in order to maintain the illusion of a free press.
@@beingsshepherd Ah! RT that pathetic mouthpiece for Putin masquerading as an independent news station. Jon is one of the reasons why I have decided to become a journalist, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I watched him from Ireland the guy was a professional never gave a softball interview and asked real questions of high level political figures. He also always took part in the big fat quiz of the year. As a news caster he will be missed.

I’ve been watching the Channel 4 news for over 15 years, and he’s been a stalwart, brilliant and compassionate journalist. My favourite journalist for sure. You’ll be missed.
Great Career John 👏. We are proud of you.
Leyend. Moved from Spain and lived in the UK for 10 years. Jon Snow showed me what good journalims could be. How to ask tough but fair questions and how to let the audience reach use their critical thinking to form an opinion.
Jon, you have been an example and an inspiration and to me a benchmark of how much good real journalism can do if we let it flourish. In these times of skepticism about news and journalist, you and the legacy you leave behind are a beacon of hope. Thank you
Master of his craft. I know I'm getting old when the when the main man retires. Bless you Mr Snow.
Top man, best wishes Mr Snow we will miss you. Best of luck whatever you do
Coming from France, in the 80s, I appreciated so much the British way of reporting and my favourite TV news channel was Channel4 , in great part because of Jon Snow. His style was unpretentious and serious: top class!

There aren't many journalists like him :((
best journalist in the last 30 years without a doubt
Thank you mr. Snow. You are Not a class act. You are beyond that. Hallmarks of a great journalist in my opinion: curious, fearless, tenacious, willing to give the interviewee all the space he or she needed to tell his or her side, and questioning on solid grounds in the reasons of what they believe. Journalists like you are sorely needed in this timeframe in the U.K.
Thank you again mr. Snow.
All the best for your future endeavours. And stay safe and healthy, so we can enjoy your presence on a different platform.
Thanks for decades of fearless, passionate reporting. I’m pretty sure I don’t agree with your politics but huge gratitude for your immense contribution to the 4th branch of govt!
He voted for Steve Norris (Conservative of course) didn't he when Norris stood for Mayor of London. Fantastic journalist and broadcaster.
Jon you will be missed.
I grow up watching Snow. He's very fair on his reporting.
You are a legend Jon Snow. Love you and work xx

You know it all, Jon Snow! Heartfelt thanks, from a Brazilian in Poland.
A great presenter, but moreover, a fantastic person.
Absolutely gutted, I hope his colleagues keep the heritage intact. Thank you Jon.
I was initially raised on Sir Mcdonald then by Jon Snow. As a toddler I wanted to b a news anchor lol.
Sad to c another news legend gone. Krishna would actually b a suitable replacement.
Started watching C4 news a few years ago, when Prince died & was amazed that they'd redecorated the studio to honour him (they hadn't). However, I was so impressed with Jon & the crew, the news gathering, the stories, the integrity, the style but also the warmth & humanity that came across, that I became a regular viewer. From your dancing, to guest slots on Last Leg or Big Quiz(?) or the other comedy shows, you're always a class act. And in answer to Krishnans question, have you influenced/altered, yes you have. Many of us, consciously or unconsciously, are drawn to and seek to emulate, those that we admire & hold in great regard. You are such a man.
Thank you sir.
Wow! I grew up watching this Man so enjoy your time away from the screen and enjoy your time with the family cheers Jon 👍🎉

When I was a little lad, my parents would always let me catch the end of Channel 4 News to see Jon Snow, who was described to me as “the man with the great ties and socks.” 😅
Our family used to wave at the TV and saying “Goodnight Jon!” every time he’d sign off. A tradition we kept up for decades and will miss dearly.

Thank you Jon Snow. I have watched you as a foreign correspondent and present the news, throughout your career. Your talents as a journalist and presenter are the best that there is, but more than that, you are simply a good person who cares and that comes over in your reporting and questioning. You will be missed. Please enjoy your retirement. If you ever feel you need to report, then there is always UA-cam et al. Platforms that will allow you to do things at your own pace. I don't expect you to do so, or even think you should. It is simply there if you feel you need it. That is the wonderful thing of the age in which we live. Stay safe and enjoy a well earned rest. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
