Jon Snow and Jeremy Paxman are simply irreplaceable. With Jon's departure this week, we have now lost two of the giants of British broadcasting. The airwaves are very much the poorer now without their presence!
Huge massive void at channel four gutted I took Jon snow for granted truly saddened by him leaving channel four he made the news exciting he knew how to keep the viewers engaged ..
dilwich123 I didn't mean that I didn't understand the conversation. It just had that kind of vibe to it. I don't see how that observation makes me unintelligent.
Jeremy Paxman was an awesome interviewer. When he interviewed people it was often like a cross examination by a prosecuting lawyer. The sort of interviewing that all politicians should do.
'Your love of the halfling's leaf (Twitter) has slowed your mind'. 100% Paxman is Saruman, in cahoots with the darker forces. Just look at Snow's tremendous work ousting the Swine Flu scam!
Without a doubt the two best television journalists of _at least_ the last fifty years. Both giants, both sadly retired. I'd never have believed they had such a great rapport if I hadn't seen it myself.
s shat scene of Jon Snow singing is just brilliant. I admire him because he has been such a great journalist over the decades and the first time I saw him was in a reportage in my country, El Salvador, during the 1980s civil war.
Yea it did, and it was pretty unfair too. Paxman says he likes to find out about things, inform people, and let them make their own decisions. Twitter can be used to do just that. You find out something, post a link to inform others, and then let them make their own decisions. Having 'followers' in this context is just like having 'viewers' of your show.
There is a difference between them. John wants to tell people what to think where as Jeremy wants to show them facts and let them decide for themselves, he doesn't care what they think. Came out very clear in this light conversation.
Manchester Wine c4 news came out on top of the list of unbiased news and Jon snow is figurehead of c4 news. They have to be impartial because they are a public Channel like the bbc not a private one like itv. Their impartiality is precisely the reason why paxman himself has moved to c4 from bbc.
Those two are absolute legends and I for one felt safe with them around to shred the shady politicians I mean who really is left to ask those difficult tough questions
Two presenters who perfected the art of making snide comments & shouting over people and presenting it as tough journalism. They really are the two faces of modern news channels.
Two presenters who perfected the art of making snide comments & shouting over people and dressing it up as tough journalism. They really are the two faces of modern journalism.
First time I've ever seen this. I watched the Jon Snow long interview/mini docu. recently and now having watched this I can see Jon is a giant of a journalist and Jeremy is a TV presenter - that's it. They're different beasts altogether. Their brains are wired up quite differently. Funny how Jeremy reacted to what was an extremely mild interview.
I loved Jeremy's reaction to the Twitter topic, especially from 4.54; comedy gold! Great interview! I particularly like the idea of discovering and informing being paramount. So much journalism these days seems to focus on leading opinion which is so unhelpful because ordinary people are just not allowed the space to be independent and make up their own minds. Instead we are left having to analyse the various agendas of the writers before analysing the content itself, including whether it's accurate and complete.
This is hilarious!! Love these two they just don't make them like this any more Bring Paxman back!!! Whining whinging and moaning he is one of a kind!! :)
I have come back to this on 23/12/21. Jeremy has gone and now Jon has left channel 4. It begs the question that who is left to take those in charge to task. I will miss the both
The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. The one thing I'd love to see is the two of them re-enacting Fry & Lauries' "man who thinks he's a psychiatrist sketch"... maybe some day, for a charity gig?
Fantastic interview piece featuring the two most iconic titans anywhere on mainland UK. Paxman, there's a special guest presenters chair @artistnest waiting for you.
Paxman is now the face of Channel 4's election night coverage since 2015. He will be there again tomorrow night Thursday 8th June, but he will be based in Pinewood Studios with Jon Snow back at ITN, 21 miles away.
The way people talk today is very dishonest and political correctness has made it worse, we openly lie to eachother, if we were to tell the truth we would offend people. That's why I like Paxman, who couldn't give a shit if it offends someone...
'This is an activity for people who've got nothing going on between their ears.' Truer word was never spoken. And he is true to himself. As of now: Paxman has 7 tweets, the first one being 'Had a bath this morning.' (2012)
I’ve met so to speak albeit very briefly and in passing both Paxman and Snow many years ago when they were guest speakers where I worked. Rather opposite to what I thought they’d be like but Paxman was incredibly polite, respectful and humble. Snow came across as very arrogant, haughty and rude, maybe he was having a bad day. Miss Paxman
Watched this then, watching it again now..still absolute gold! This is 'The Trip' but the enforced meeting is a Beeb meeting room rather than a Rangie :D
Andrew Neil and Jeremy Paxman were one of the reasons I enjoyed political interviews on the BBC. Now both have gone, leaves the BBC in a terrible place, with the likes of Laura Kunesberg and Andrew Marr both weak as dish water at interviewing.
"Everything has to live or die by whether it delivers an audience or performs a function." Says Paxman. Well, the audience aren't given the choice to not pay for the BBC and pay for another service. They can't watch another service unless they pay the BBC. So much of the audience probably think I may as well watch something. What size would the audience be if they paid the BBC voluntarily? And "performs a function"... but at what cost? Throw enough money at most things and it could be argued "look! it's performing a function". The BBC should live or die through the choice of its audience. And that cannot be validated if the audience are held to ransom. The function they perform is extortion and liberal/socialist propaganda, which follows because socialism requires the initiation of force. I stopped paying my license fee nearly 10 years ago. Fortunately there threatening letters can no longer reach me.
i love jon snow and jeremy paxman. One of these broadcasters should just put both of them on the same news related talk show and have them discuss the topics of the day like they do here. Would be hugely insightful from the perspective of these two men who have seen it all in their respective careers. Put it on instead of that 'loose woman' nonsense at least. I mean a show that aims to get a handful of woman (all though the woman part isnt important) that have no insight into the the most important topics of the day and come from respective shoddy careers that happen to have been in the public eye at one point all because they reflect the 'average person'. If broadcasters think that's the intellectual calibre of the average person that I think we should all be bloody insulted by it.
I wish Channel 4 News would do more news coverage. At the moment there is just their main programme which airs for around an hour each weekday excluding Fridays when it is usually 35 minutes and then the two weekend bulletins and the pointless 5 minute weekday lunchtime summary. Channel 4 has a revenue close to £900 million a year, surely they could fork out a bit more for more news. Maybe a competitor to the BBC Newsnight, have a 11pm bulletin?

Paxo, Snow & McDonald sit in a pub having a drink whilst ripping into to todays talentless and spineless news presenters / reporters!
U know nothing jon snow
I feel like I'm listening to two old blokes in a pub. haha
Last orders...one brandy too many.
Yeah on £1M p/yr each - two old blokes in a pub - wise up
dilwich123 I didn't mean that I didn't understand the conversation. It just had that kind of vibe to it. I don't see how that observation makes me unintelligent.
Play it at half speed and I'm pretty sure that's what it would sound like.
Just Liam Jon, hold my beer.......... 😂
Jeremy Paxman was an awesome interviewer. When he interviewed people it was often like a cross examination by a prosecuting lawyer. The sort of interviewing that all politicians should do.
Only Paxman could turn the tables and start interviewing Snow! :)
Two old geezers....however, I see Paxman as the weak BBC link and I'd prefer Mr Snow as company. I hate being judged.
You can tell these two have been in a pub together before.
Delightful. I wish it had been a much longer interview.
I fear one of them may have fallen asleep or needed to use the bathroom.
Declan Feeney Oh, come on. They're not _that_ decrepit.
You'd be surprised; they are the sole reason both the BBC and Channel 4 have Nap rooms.
Declan Feeney Ha. Well, as an old codger who rather enjoys napping, I can relate to that with great empathy.
@@DeclanFeeneyDJF unkind.
"His era at the helm of the closest thing the BBC has to channel 4 News" is the kind of 4th Estate banter I appreciate.
Danielle S don’t worry viewers paxman will continue University Challenge Until Monday 29th May 2023 When He Will Be Replaced By Amol Rajan
@@matthall3077 I wonder who’ll be the next presenter of University Challenge?
@@jamiengo2343 Well, now we know...
@@mikeoglen6848Amol Rajan Is Now Our New University Challenge Quizzator!
These two need their own show.
"Have you got some sort of a Mesiah Complex?" :')
Love these two, so smart and well spoken.
The whole twitter discussion reminds of the encounter between Gandalf and Saruman in the tower of Isengard haha
Which one is which?
Area Ximus snow is saruman obviously twitter is the eye of sauron, always watching i love both tho
'Your love of the halfling's leaf (Twitter) has slowed your mind'. 100% Paxman is Saruman, in cahoots with the darker forces. Just look at Snow's tremendous work ousting the Swine Flu scam!

Jon Snow trying to explaining Twitter to Paxman is like when Charlie Brooker tried to explain video games to him
Loved this interview! I just wish there was more of it!
'You have drunk the coolaid haven't you'
Lololol
Jon Snow and Jeremy Paxman. The Waldorf and Stadler of British television journalism. Sheer Brilliance.
Two absolute powerhouses, teasing each other and being crass....Wonderful! Thanks for the upload!
Are you sure this isn't from Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon script?
The level of conversation is quite amazing. So much metaphors really elegant speech
II haven't watches television for ten years but , when I did , Jeremy was always worth watching . If he's now retired , I wish him well !
s shat scene of Jon Snow singing is just brilliant. I admire him because he has been such a great journalist over the decades and the first time I saw him was in a reportage in my country, El Salvador, during the 1980s civil war.
One of our great talents
this has aged so well
my favourite interview ever!
Paxo's "Messiah complex" swipe seemed to knock Snow back for a second.

Adam B are they...
Gotta love Channel 4 news.
Jon Snow is the Louis Theroux of news interviews,he sets Venus flytrap questions and keeps a straight face. Hahaha
This has to be the most delightful conversation I have ever seen on TV/UA-cam.
Two titans of television journalism!!!
Great man👏👏👏👍 I will miss your news✋✋✋
These two could do a weekly show together. It would get fantastic ratings. They could call it "The Odd Couple"
Absolutely brilliant, and the wonderful CC Smugglers playing with Jon Snow at the end!
Watch the body language. one does the other copies. Interesting.
to be fair it was Snow's interview.
😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜 mjungaaa
Mitaaa sot nyote hakunupati muoneshee kmaa ataezaaa
Snow's such a chilled dude
this is fuckin hilarious, Jesus Christ when he talks of Twitter hahahaha "I wish you joy of it".. a slice of fried gold!
If only Paxman had said "you know nothing, Jon Snow"...
It's a reference to a TV show, Ray. Nobody's being bad to Jon.
Pls off TV and don't open🙏💔👍
@Thor Thirty Nine Ok boomer
Not wanting to push a narrative seems like alien concept to Jon.
Suddenly, his coverage makes so much more sense, now.
I feel like this is an end of an era you will never see giants like this again
This interview really made me laugh, somewhere in this interview, the two are quietly amicable. It seems sweet, and somewhat homely. :]
Those two are absolute legends and I for one felt safe with them around to shred the shady politicians I mean who really is left to ask those difficult tough questions
Two great professionals.
Two presenters who perfected the art of making snide comments & shouting over people and presenting it as tough journalism. They really are the two faces of modern news channels.
I met Jon once, very nice chap

these 2 should do a double act were they travel the world looking for interesting news stories
LOL, I love the bitch-slap they do to BBC News in the intro. "Closest thing to Channel 4 News..."
Two great, great newsmen!
First time I've ever seen this. I watched the Jon Snow long interview/mini docu. recently and now having watched this I can see Jon is a giant of a journalist and Jeremy is a TV presenter - that's it.

Jon Snows been longer in the broadcasting industry than Paxman. But great otherwise
I loved Jeremy's reaction to the Twitter topic, especially from 4.54; comedy gold! Great interview! I particularly like the idea of discovering and informing being paramount. Time has proven Paxman to be correct. Snow and his fellow lefties are ideologues. Paxman is a real journalist.
Legends

4:52 Sums up Paxman's interviews! Newsnight isn't the same without the guy.
Paxman and Snow with their own show. Channel 4 would have a winner
Very enjoyable.
One word; superb
What a bloke.
This is amazing, two titans of British journalism sniping at each other a pair of old ladies.
Interviewing eachother 😂
Paxman is a different class... Shine his shoe Snow..
I like how Krishnan introduced this in Paxman style.
Why does his shirt change when the camera pans out?
Jon snow is so lightweight next to him
Now both of them have retired from the news, what a shame too.

Well then you are a selfish man.
Very few people can sit unflinchingly as guests opposite Paxman, but even fewer can do so as hosts. Good for Snow.
now im thinking of getting twitter!
great interview!
