To me, Burt Reynolds was the coolest person in the movies when I was a kid! From Gator, to Bandit and Hooper, and many more. There will never be another like him!🙏 RIP Burt
Burt could have been my next door neighbour. He was so genuine! He's the type of celebrity who would have relished living incognito, amongst average people. As long as he could live a normal life. It's unfortunate that he experienced so many high profile personal relationships. Were he not so famous, he may well have been able to enjoy a successful relationship with the women he devoted himself to.
I love & adore Burt. Thank you for sharing this with us, the real fans. Loni, was nothing more than a wanna be, gold digging, not so great looking, dime a dozen, floozie! Loneliness and aging on top of what I believe Burt has indicated an ultimatum caused the horrible marriage to occur.
Burt looks fabulous here! However, it's VERY telling when he was asked what it was about Loni that finally got him down the aisle? Why did he get married now? He had to think about it & never gave a very succinct response. He REALLY wanted a child & felt he was running out of time, that is known. This was why he got married. He clearly never really wanted to marry Loni. No real love or excitement in his response what so ever. Sadly, he made a huge mistake.
The saddest part is that, while Burt had his pick of ladies, he regretted the loss of Sally Field. She would have been a far better wife and partner because she wasn't a choice stemming from any sort of anxiety. FOMO is the worst way to make any decision. I know, I've done it myself.

He wrote in his book, My Life, as he was about to walk down the aisle, he admitted to his best man/friend, he didn't want to go through w/the marriage, but felt it was too late to back out. He wanted that child so badly. Turns out, due to the ugly divorce, he never really had all the experiences he was hoping for in raising a child & having a family of his own. He never had the solid relationship with his son that he had hoped for, as Loni put up so many barriers up between them. Using the child to bring Burt down & manipulate them both. He didn't marry Dinah, because he wanted a biological child, & she could no longer conceive, he didn't marry Sally at that time, as there were so many other things he felt he needed to do 1st, & missed his shot to be with & have a (biological) child with a really decent woman. Don't get me wrong, he really loved his adopted son as best he could, his biology ended up making no difference to him. But Burt's story is actually quite tragic. The man who had everything, never got the one thing he really desperately wanted...a loving family.
For all those attacking Loni; he had been with her 7-8 years at this time, so quit saying she took years off his life. I loved Burt, but the man had a severe prescription med addiction and a problem with relationships……and would probably be the first to admit it. This was the last time, at 52, that he looked wonderful. By the early 90s, the much bigger toupee and the abuse his body had taken aged him quickly.
