Oh. No. It’s January 18th, 2019, and there’s people who think Great White Sharks are safe to swim with. The bigger, and older means more relaxed, and docile. These people claim they can predict if the sharks are aggressive. Jesus.
Great Whites are really good at acclimating to the California coastal waters. They are in a target rich environment for food supply. Common sense tells you that swimming off of the coast is dangerous so I recommend taking your friend to a swimming pool where there are noooo great whites to be seen or that will rock the boat (so to speak)...
So, they didn't feel like putting up a warning, "because it happened 1/4 of a mile out"??? 1/4 of a mile = 400m. A great white's cruising speed is about 8km/h, so it would cover that distance in about 3.5 minutes... At cruising speed... Now, as it's attack speed is about 20km/h it could hypothetically cover the distance in less than 1.5 minutes... But no need to put up a sign or anything, let's just assume that it isn't attracted by people splashing around like seals... It's amazing how little work you can get away with, by careful application of assumption...
Might be that the shark was "fishing kayaks" and mistook that boat for one...The fishers out there in the kayaks are educating sharks about easy meals on floating trays...;)
That’s important information. As you probably already know Great Whites attack from the bottom and come almost straight up as opposed to from the sides
I was fishing off ano nuevo just north of there in the 70s . We were looking at a small sea lion playing around next to our boat . the shark came from under and drove the sea lion about 6 feet in the air . He chomped it in half , circled back and swallowed the rest . the birds came in and inside a minute there was no trace anything had happened . Incredible sight . Never heard of this but gotta question how serious that fish was . Didn't look like what it could have done if it really had a mind to .
That's fucking horrifying because what if he didn't have is bearings and got knocked out of the boat which is more than probable what the shark was trying to accomplish. Personally I find nothing more beautiful yet equally as terrifying as our world's oceans!
Should always swim in pairs, getting from the beach to where your swim partner went down is impossible. Need to be close by with your GoPro to record them drowning or being eaten.
Your boat is the colour of a SEAL! Paint it green. I believe that green repels them. Someone did research years ago with colours..I'm sure green was 'safest'. But yours is the EXACT colour of a seal. And the way it attacked you is exactly how they hunt seals; from the deep. When you see a shark breaching it usually has a seal in its teeth..or a piece of one. You were definitely very lucky. He could have EEEASILY turned your boat over. I guess he realised that wood is not quite as digestible and tasty as seal. Praise Jesus because He saved you. You were not merely 'lucky'..it just wasn't your day to 'leave'.
0:49 Orcas can splash seals off ice sheets to grab them when they hit the water (in the wild) and can lure birds near the water with fish to grab them (in captivity). It's not unreasonable that an old great white could learn to dump a human out of his little boat. Shark needed a toothpick, I guess.
"It happened a 1/4 mile off shore"... and it would take them approximately how long to swim that far? 30 seconds? So as long as you aren't in the fishing boat you are safe..
That one probably traveled from Southern Hemisphere waters....they’re used to breach attacks, much more than the ones who learn in California Coastal waters. That’s my own working theory, so don’t bank on it.
A full on attack by what he describes as a 1 ton animal? I don't think so, his boat would have capsized at best or sunk. The bite is more like a scratch for an animal this size, there is like a stretch of imagination here.
It was a good bump to topple him into the sea, not a full on attack of the boat. If the shark were in some sort of frenzy, I doubt it would have stopped after just one bump.
It does happen, used to go fishing quite a bit mostly because of fisherman cleaning their fish and attracts the sharks and have actually seen them bite the boats.
If a great White hit you like that it must have thought you were a seal, a sea lion, or food of some kind. They attack their food from below, they go deep and use all their strength and hit hard from underneath you. They’ll breech even. Unlike Bull Sharks, they’ll just bump into you and take a bite lol
He was fishing for Squid ? That's shark food hence the aggressive behaviour ; the guy was in the sharks kitchen stealing food. It's ok though people are being told to swim in pairs; sounds like 2 for 1 to me for the shark !
1/4 mile from the beach is nothing for a Great White to cover in a flash, reminds me of the movie Jaws...cant possibly close the beach for a couple days to monitor. Its fine folks.....enjoy your swim.
Attacks like that “ welllll they are rare”. Rare or common makes no damn difference if you’re the rare person one takes a bite out of just to see if you are food.
It's like the rhetoric that your chances of dying in a plane crash are almost non existent but if you are one on board that plane when the plane splits in two and you see the cockpit drift in a different direction than the part you are in and get to take the roller coaster ride to earth it doesn't make it better. We do to a degree have the choice in ways we won't die. Is being eaten by a great white or falling from 35000 feet the way you want to go? Then choose wisely.
Bullshit - those light teeth marks are typically of a shark 'mouthing' an object - if a shark that large, travelling at speed, had hit his boat, it would have done a lot more damage...
Oh. No. It’s January 18th, 2019, and there’s people who think Great White Sharks are safe to swim with. The bigger, and older means more relaxed, and docile. These people claim they can predict if the sharks are aggressive. Jesus.
"It was this big" sounds like a typical fisherman's story lol
You call it ambitious, I call it a nightmare .

"We're gonna need a bigger boat."
Roy Scheider as Chief Brody in JAWS
If you're in the ocean, you're on the menu.
Bob Warren For real. That’s why I sit on the beach with a drink in my hand 🤪
From the top of the food chain to the bottom
From the top of the food chain to the bottom go unpair I guarantee of 15-footer could eat two people
I'm gonna go eat shark tacos just.
Your just too scared to have fun
Swim with others so you all look like a bunch of seals.
"Come out to the coast", you said. "We'll have a few laughs", you said.
Might be that the shark was "fishing kayaks" and mistook that boat for one...The fishers out there in the kayaks are educating sharks about easy meals on floating trays...;)
I guess I need to find a real slow swimmer to go with me when I go out again.
🤣🤣🤣
Enter the water in pairs because one person may not be enough for a hungry shark.
lol..
LOL! I was thinking the same exact thing!!
My thoughts exactly.
@@jonsprague1229 well, Im sorry but my thoughts are, go in the ocean with a fat lady on her periods.
In pairs and to use barbecue sauce instead of sun screen.
Has to be Bull’seye
Swim in pairs in case Mr. Great White is really hungry!! Lmao
Wow attacked from below........
Usually they attack from the sky 🙄
Get Off Your Bass And Lets Fish sharknado is a documentary
Best yet!
LMAO......Aaaahhhhahahhahaahahahaaaaaa
Good one....!!!!!

Carry a rifle...but do not..DO NOT...shoot into the boat!
lol swim together like a group of seals to ward off the sharks ......Genius farmer genius

Next time pal you are going to need a bigger boat.
Harveir Black that guys crazy going into the ocean in a boat that size lol
That reference will never get old! :)
it's a good thing that he wasn't in a kayak.
i hope he gets a bigger boat!
"Swimmers and surfers are being asked to go into the water in pairs"" yes so you can wave two sirloin steaks in front of the sharks instead of one.
Yes swimmers and surfers do be sure to go out in pairs so the sharks will get fuller quicker
Should always swim in pairs, getting from the beach to where your swim partner went down is impossible. Need to be close by with your GoPro to record them drowning or being eaten.
sharks taking bites out of small boats can make a small boat sink, and it makes a tasty treat for the shark.
Yes, swim in pairs. That way you can swim to safety as the shark eats your friend. It's a numbers thing.
Your boat is the colour of a SEAL! Paint it green. I believe that green repels them. Someone did research years ago with colours..I'm sure green was 'safest'. But yours is the EXACT colour of a seal. My oh my, would never be in a boat that small in the ocean, jeez
I used to live there and visited those beaches often, but never went into the waters.
And people ask why I won’t buy an inflatable boat... here’s your sign..
Experts say the shark mistook the boat for a catalytic converter
Definitely a lost Australian Shark, it attacked from "Down Under"
Hhhhhhh
Where women glow and men plunder??
@@bswihart1 still one of my favorite tunes
Go in pairs so the shark will be really full.
Always swim in pairs, One can be the starter, and the second person the main meal.
"It happened a 1/4 mile off shore"... and it would take them approximately how long to swim that far? 30 seconds?
So as long as you aren't in the fishing boat you are safe..
Well, being in that teeny, weeny boat, I do bet that you felt a bit frightened....
Why in pairs? Is that guy on our team or is he team shark??
WOW, that was a number one type attack, it ment to kill.
If you don't want to be bitten by a shark
Don't go into the ocean...
I do not have to swim fast, I just have to swim faster than the left nut that got in the water with me
It's actually a fact.. a shark won't attack if it knows you're doing the buddy system.
Sure, go swimming in pairs. That way the shark can have dessert as well!
If i came packing with a jaw like that, i`d also have an inclination to testbite things coming my way, lol.
I wonder if he thought, I'm about to find out how Ben Gardner felt.
Wouldn't a dog left unattended bump into a table to knock the food on the floor so it could eat it? No brainer, shark's aren't dumb.
Exactly.
That one probably traveled from Southern Hemisphere waters....they’re used to breach attacks, much more than the ones who learn in California Coastal waters. That’s my own working theory, so don’t bank on it.
Real Close Call!!!...too close.
glad Fishermans ok.
South Australia -most shark deaths occur on boats.23/25.They simply tip them over.
Once you enter the Sharks-Zone...You become a Delicious German Chocolate cake 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋...
Dont take a 12 foot boat where there are 15 foot sharks!!!
Yes. And make sure your swimming partner is slower than you in the water.
Why do people always say “he” what if it’s a “she”? ... Are you defining a poor shark’s gender? You monster!
Time for a bigger boat 🚣🏻
Were going to need a bigger boat !
Must have been a slow news cycle that week.
Yes definitely go in pairs but chose your fattest friend to go in with you. Good chance shark is going to pick the chunky one.
A fisher mans story "It was that wide"
LOL!
We're gonna need a bigger boat!
It knows that if it hits a boat/kayak/jet ski like that, then it can throw a person into the water for a feed.
Yes, by all means go into the water in pairs because we all know sharks are afraid of youthgangs.
Must have thought the boat was a seal
No, it thought that the man in the boat looked tasty, dumbass.
@@varanid9 he was being sarcastic you dumbass and your both idiots
this is why I don't go in the water
Capitola is where Dr. Christine Ford surfs all the time. You think she’d be able to handle a fumbling teenage advance.
Look at the boat, it's a freaking dinghy...The Shark was bigger than the boat....
A full on attack by what he describes as a 1 ton animal? I don't think so, his boat would have capsized at best or sunk. The bite is more like a scratch for an animal this size, there is like a stretch of imagination here.

Sharks like 2 for 1 deals too😈🦈
All I see is people chatting, I came here for a shark attack...
Swim in Pairs where there's a SHARK!!! what day is this... "BOGO" Bite One Get Other? Hahaha that's to funny! 😜
Shark just watched "Jaws" on DVD
Nobody except Americans knows how long a foot is any more.
Because the boat look like a seal after all. haha.
If they're hungry they eat what ever is there.
It does happen, used to go fishing quite a bit mostly because of fisherman cleaning their fish and attracts the sharks and have actually seen them bite the boats.
You were using squid?? Wtf was you thinking was gonna happen
Obviously, this shark has successfully done it before.
Swim in pairs because the sharks were just given a two for one coupon... With no expiration date.
Probably a territorial attack. She didn’t like that boat being in her hunting grounds.
So I only have to out swim my buddy, not the shark. 😬
And why swim in pairs? Is the shark bringing it’s twin?
They say there are 35ft long sharks found. Mandela effect, "we're gonna need a bigger boat!"..??
Someone's going to get a big bite of a shark

next on eyewitless news at 5, a shark, attacks an island, LIVE!!!
Quint your gonna need a bigger boat!
Make sure you can swim faster than your buddy.
Keep a camera handy!

And this is why i wont SUP in norcal or any dense seal populated CA coastal areas

Asked to enter the water in pairs just in case the shark is very hungry
Swim in Pairs - ? Great Idea , now the Sharks will come in pairs....
Don't worry because sharks will think you're whale shit.
Go in pairs and make sure your buddy swims slower than you.
swimming with a buddy is best cause you don't need to out swim the shark you only need to out-swim your buddy
so he put a little scratch in the boat? ooh... would have been a better story if the guy had run out of gas.
The radiation is making them insane.
The poor shark just confused the boat as a lure!😎😇🎯
