22:37 i can basically sum it up in two words: graphical limitations. Since a brick on average minimum has two individual "bumps," and each individual bump for some ungodly reason is rendered as it's own individual object, to create the illusion of different pieces, so the only thing they had to do was create models and apply textures appropriately. Doing it the other way around not only would be disgustingly big (the immediate example that came to mind was fatal frame 4, that took an entire wii u's hard drive and this would create double) But more importantly it's how they create those speedy animations of building so damn quickly, The models are swapped around during the process.
I guess you could say that sponsored segment made me fall asleep in the best way possible. Also I like how Charriii knew it was his sworn duty to add bloopers with the dog at the end.
I love that ad aesthetic, it has so much appeal and personality. Definitely convinced me to watch it all through and brought my interest to the product. Great video as always
5 minutes of detailed explanation into the history of the Jesus fish, followed immediately by the most exasperated "PREPARE TO CHALLENCE!" absolutely sent me
I think it DOES say *"Challenge"* in Sonic R... The problem is that the C & G look *way* too similar to each other in the font that's used in the game. You *legit* need to take a really close look to see the difference cause said difference is really small
21:45 Because of that puzzle, as a child I thought you were unable to finish the game as Sonic and could only finish it as Knuckles since he exits Carnival Night Zone at a different point (Also idk what anyone says, I love the PC tracks more) I loved both Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R. I hadn't played Lego Dimensions and didn't even know there was a Sonic pak in it. In the 90s I didn't have a console, so Sonic CD, Sonic and Knuckles Collection, Sonic R and Sonic Blast... plus the Archie Comics, were my intro into the Sonic world. Sonic 3D Blast took me the longest to beat (technically Sonic 3 as Sonic took the longest since I again CNZ) but I still remember the feeling when I finally beat the True Final Boss (Finished him with no rings, you can imagine my panic/relief there). It also was a time I didn't know about the 'bad endings' as well, I only thought it was about getting to the end credits. A simpler time =D
Uhh...idk what to say, but the PREPARE TO CHALLANCE is *actually* the version that's supposed to be proper, PREPARE TO CHALLANGE. You can tell by a very slight corner in the G where the final curve happens compared to the normal shape of a C. Other than that though, I'm liking this video very much, especially the Jesus Fish rant.
I didn't expect LEGO Dimensions, but seeing as how that was also by Traveller's Tales and did feature Sonic as a level pack. I probably should've known Charrill5 would bring it up. Also, I remembered that was the official debut of LEGO Sonic, and has only gotten more prominent since, with an entire LEGO set theme based around him just last year. And I think this is what LEGO Mario should be going forward, since the novelty of his existing line is kind of wearing off, in my opinion.
Yeah, LEGO Dimensions is incredibly glitchy, probably the most glitchiest LEGO game of them all, but that won't stop me from considering this the best LEGO game of all time due to its content, nostalgia to many 80s films and inclusion of video game series besides Sonic, like Midway Arcade and Valve's Portal. I recently just got 100% as well, obtaining the last required packs to unlock all worlds and get all Gold Bricks. All that's left now is to complete the collection. And that's my goal in life.
Sonic 3D reminds me a bit of the Spyro merged games of Season of Fire and Ice, it also had a 3D thing going on, a little bit wonky but interesting. Gotta say, I've been really well informed in the Super sonic racing game on Jesus Fish, very unusual but I am definitely informed. The Lego game with Batman saying he had no sense of humor actually did genuinely make me laugh, that was funny, and your follow up just made it all the more great lol. For the question of the video, I think these games are interesting. I never played any of them but they seem alright for what they are, definitely got some interesting mechanics and story to them! I was more so interested in the Lego one, definitely was a interesting and odd crossover game of sorts in a weird way, really neat honestly! I appreciate the outtakes for your MantaSleep sponsored ad/commercial thing, the doggo is definitely a great actor, funny they got all excited in the next scene though lol. Honestly, that Manta stuff does sound great! Might check it out. This was a great video overall, I enjoyed the little jokes here and there, the 'copy of Green hill' joke always has me chuckling. Hope you stay safe and stay awesome my dude! ^^ 🌙⭐
I usually skip ad reads, but your segment about manta sleep was genuinely so funny I stuck around for it. There are some videos where I end up liking the ad reads just as much as the rest of the video, and I fear this may be one of them
Oh this was a good one! Another sin you missed for Lego Dimensions is that Knuckles said something out of character when referencing Sonic. "Ooh look at me! I'm Sonic! Don't do this! Don't do that!"
Even for Knuckles, that's a dumb thing to say. Sonic is chaotic good, he won't tell you not to do things. If you're a bad boy, he'll just kick your ass.
27:20-27:23 If you're talking about Sonic Generations, that Perfect Chaos fight is just a memory. He didn't actually go back in time to fight Perfect Chaos without turning Super, he fought a dream version.
That doesn't make any sense lol Doesn't Tails describe what the Sonics do in Generations as "running through time and space to repair the different places they've been to"? Because if they're just dreams, that means Classic Eggman doesn't get "kidnapped" by the Time Eater, and us saving Sonic's friends makes entirely no sense. And it being a memory makes even less sense because why on Earth would he remember the fight against Perfect Chaos but not that he went Super?
for sin 19 (7:37 - 7:49), i want to point out that Sonic 3D Blast's Saturn version was actually NOT developed at the same time as the Genesis/Mega Drive version. they may have been released at around the same time, but the Saturn version was actually worked on *after Sonic Xtreme was cancelled* and SEGA showed up to Traveler's Tales and requested that the game would be ported to Saturn. 3D Blast on the Saturn was pretty much the replacement for Xtreme.
4:29 We've seen the bluebird before. She literally had her own game for arcade and Master Systsem before Sonic that's the reason why they're even called "flicky" in the first place.
I had a very good time in Lego dimensions (even tho i had very little characters) but I did manage to Grab Sonic and done that level pack. I loved it a lot cause of the references, the overall story and just being able to enjoy Sonic as Lego
LEGO DIMENSIONS, I used to love that game so much. I didn’t even know there was a sonic section 💀 Never thought I’d see you cover it in this series of all things. I forgot how many fun references all the characters had
That sin regarding Batman and Gandalf is probably my favorite sin you’ve ever deliver (besides calling out Vector’s insensitively in Shadow the Hedgehog)
Idk why, but the way charriii said "PREPARE TO CHALLENCE" with such confidence is so funny to me, I burst out laughing the first time I heard it. That being said, the word "challenge" wasn't actually misspelled and there was a G in that word. But with how it looks, I can kinda see someone mistaking it for a C, so it gets a pass. (My bad, little idiot me didn't finish watching the video, but I'm still leaving this comment)
Sonic 3d blast will always be unique due to how going full Trevor Phillips on your system could sever the connection cord and give you its level select code
5:25 Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going crazy. Like, about 15 seconds before you mentioned that, I knew I recognized the music of Twinkle Circuit. I'm not mad about the recycling, though. It's good music!
12:57 yeah... I like to combine my WAV files ripped from my CDs using Windows Media Player into Audacity and make clever transitions between tracks and save it all as one FLAC for lossless archival compression or OGG Vorbis for my phone. MP3s? You're aware that CDs are inherently not MP3s right? they're WAV PCMs.
22:26 The actual reason for that was decided early on, and I mean first game LEGO Star Wars early. Travellers tales first made totally LEGO environments, but when they did that, it was impossible to tell what was usable, what was breakable, what was actually important or just a prop. So the mixed graphics was their solution.
Interesting to note, For Sonic 3D Blast, it was many a technological marvel for Travelers' Tale when they developed it. Jon Burton went into detail of all what was done to make it stand out and take advantage of the Genesis, more on his channels GameHut, and Coding Secrets. Same for Toy Story The Video Game, also by them, they pulled off what the Genesis was limited with and developed a game with the charm of the 1995 movie. When my brother and I got our Sega Genesis with Sonic and Knuckles included as a Pack-in game back in Christmas 1996, both Sonic 3D blast and Toy Story were the games included as part of our presents. So, Travelers' Tales has mostly been a part of our gaming career as pioneers of technological wizardry. Funny you mention about Sonic R, it may be frowned upon for many, but TT did pull off a lot of time to make this, visuals and all. Though another game that they were making around the time, interesting enough, used a modified engine of Sonic R to run on PlayStation, Rascal the video game. Though Jon Burton has confirmed that he was handling development of Sonic R, he wasn't able to oversee Rascal's development and said game was in the hands of TT's publisher at the time, Psygnosis. The reason was because of the publisher, Psygnosis wanting tank controls instead of the traditional SM64 liked controls. Rascal is quite a visual juggernaut, it shows that a lot of care went into the levels themselves and it shows, if you can get past the camera and controls. I wonder, are you planning on doing a Everything Wrong With Rascal for PS1, @Charrii5? Pepsiman went very well, and it was awesome!
19:26 erm ackshually they *did* fix prepare to challence ☝️🤓, if u look closely they actually changed the 2nd C to a G (notice how the bottom part is more square than the C), so i guess chariii was so used to seeing “prepare to challence” that he didnt notice they changed it lol
7:47 No the saturn version was developed way near Christmas period of '96 after sonic x-treme was cancelled. In fact the saturn ost was composed in only 2 weeks and Jaquess never had time to score it.
Charriii, PLEASE make an Everything Wrong With Lego Dimensions video. It has so much potential with how many characters there are, the missions, the worlds and the interactions.
I'm really glad that this video doesn't have a heartfelt and serious conversation with Soul Charriii, instead just having him show up on the outro's background as an easter egg and the post credits scene just being a bunch of bloopers of him presumably trying to record said scene (or possibly the sponsor of the video, which I skipped... XD). Not only does this match much better the tone of the rest of the video, but it also shows that there's now no need for him to vent his negative emotions through conversations with his other half. I'm really happy for him :)
25:54 I’m going to make this clear. Eggman generates a barrier around him and each puzzle you do in Metropolis activates the Tesla coil at the top making the barrier gone. Rinse and repeat while also getting off the tornado while progressing through the stage until the gold ring appears. Defeating eggman entirely in metropolis earns you a minikit
9:22 the reason they're in the tubes is because the manual states that eggman didn't have time to out the flickies into the badniks due to how fast sonic had gotten to his lair so had to put them into tubes
I love how the entire fish rant was just Charriii deciding to spite that one guy (you know who you are) which somehow ended up becoming Monsoons speech about memes from MGR: Revengance Also another potential sin for Dimensions, Eggman called Mecha Sonic (Mk.I from Sonic 2 and not Mk.II from Sonic 3 & Knuckles) his first creation to truely rival Sonic, which is total boosh since Mecha Sonic does basically nothing, but even then it would be wrong because Metal Sonic came before Mecha chronologically. In fact no Sonic copy ever got close to matching Metals capabilities, even having usurped Eggman in Heroes. And then after that he just stopped being part of Eggmans plans (Rivals has questionable canonicity clashing with 06 (which uncanonized itself) and the Rush games, in Generations it was just Classic Metal being brought in by the Time Eater to guard a Chaos Emerald and it Forces it was just a Metal copy made by the Phantom Ruby) and never really got brought up by Eggman againeven though he is his most capable robot...maybe he wouldnt have tried to take over his army if Eggman showed him the same kind of love he showed towards Sage. Metal should just start hanging out with Shadow, Rouge and Omega, they are way better comany than sticking around with Eggman...unless he keeps sticking around Eggman to make sure he doesnt mess up Sage, like a big brother protecting his little sister...am I the only one who wants a spinoff game about Metal and Sage now?
17:25 Okay so for this sin, yes, it does sound a bit backwards, but there's a couple of details you missed. Knuckles didn't exactly abandon his post on Floating Island since he's the guardian of all the Emeralds, which includes the Chaos Emeralds, as it says in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Sonic & Knuckles instruction manuals. Also Princess Sally caring about the Chaos Emeralds would kinda make sense considering she knows Robotnik's evil, but how exactly did she find out about the Chaos Emeralds? Like the first game she was in, Sonic CD, she didn't know about the Chaos Emeralds at the time. Now she suddenly knows about them? Also the team put her Japanese name instead of her English name in the manual without explaining the reason for the name change.
Princess Sally is NOT the same character as Amy Rose. Never has been, never will be. The in-game sprites in Sonic CD depict Amy Rose, not Princess Sally.
@@AnonAmyTheSilly (sigh) Okay, here we go again. So this is actually a common misconception. In Sonic CD, the manual for the game states that the pink hedgehog's name is Princess Sally, while in the Japanese manual, it says that her name is Rosy the Rascal, with it also saying Amy Rose is her real name. Both names are from different regions, and mostly everyone calls her by her Japanese name for whatever reason. So they are in fact, the same character. And before you bring up the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, Sonic CD came first before that. The localization team wasn't trying to connect the game to that show because at that point, the show hadn't even come out yet. And also, multiple characters can have the same name. I hope this clears up any confusion you have about this. And for future reference, make sure you look at the instruction manuals for the games because the context and lore of the game tends to be there.
@@Th0m4s575 I've checked the manuals for the US version of Sonic CD. The manual for the Sega CD version does indeed call the character Princess Sally, but the manual for the Windows 95 version calls her Amy Rose. Also, the Archie Sonic comics featured more-or-less the same Princess Sally from SatAM ever since they'd started...in 1992.
@@AnonAmyTheSilly Okay, but the PC version wasn't released until 1996, and they changed Princess Sally's name in 1995 when Sonic Drift 2 came out. Also, the Archie comics aren't canon to the games and neither is the show. And did I not say that multiple characters can have the same name?
@@Th0m4s575Did you not consider for a second that the manual thing is just a mistake? Because Amy Rose is NOT in any way Princess Sally, hell she's never been a Princess why on earth would she be called that?
27:38 In Big's defense this is the only time Froggy just runs away for now reason. In Sonic Adventure 1 he's possessed by Chaos tail (that only shows up on one form of Chaos), and it forces him to find Chaos, it was also the reason he ate a chaos emerald (though still don't know HOW he was able to), and in Sonic heroes Froggy was kidnapped by metal sonic who was able to copy Chaos' DNA via Froggy, though I don't know that Chaos DNA would be inside Froggy even though his tailed possessed Froggy.
10:35 If I made it that far back then when I had Mega Collection Plus as a kid, I'd prolly be like "Ooga booga, orange spot on wall? Must smash, crash, and super dash."
Gonna have to correct you; If you were saying that the music for the original Saturn version of Sonic 3D was in MP3 format - nope, not a chance. Saturn games were dual-mode discs, with one data track containing all the game code and assets, and additional tracks were on the CD for the music. Not MP3 files; not even MP3-format audio. It was Redbook audio. The MP3 format wouldn't even be developed until five years after the release of the Saturn, and three years after the release of Sonic 3D. Hell, the Saturn was discontinued by Sega before the MP3 format existed.

24:33 from the Mario&Sonic at the olympic games series
😮
I guess you could say that sponsored segment made me fall asleep in the best way possible.
Also I like how Charriii knew it was his sworn duty to add bloopers with the dog at the end.
25:01
Also, Silver Sonic is what “Robo” Sonic is also called in Archie.
I loved the bloopers at the end, pure perfection. 🙌
I love that ad aesthetic, it has so much appeal and personality. Definitely convinced me to watch it all through and brought my interest to the product. Great video as always
5 minutes of detailed explanation into the history of the Jesus fish, followed immediately by the most exasperated "PREPARE TO CHALLENCE!" absolutely sent me
Who else was expecting another strangely cryptic end segment and was surprised by the ad bloopers at the end?
The only game I know anything about is Sonic R and it’s because of Tails Doll and the main theme.
I think it DOES say *"Challenge"* in Sonic R... The problem is that the C & G look *way* too similar to each other in the font that's used in the game. You *legit* need to take a really close look to see the difference cause said difference is really small
Yes, it does say "Challenge." Traveller's Tales is a British developer, so it'd be weird if they got the spelling wrong.
Can we get an EWW on the Shantae series? There’s a LOT of material to work with
The primary sin is that Tigger didn’t make an anime
This would be amazing

Because of that puzzle, as a child I thought you were unable to finish the game as Sonic and could only finish it as Knuckles since he exits Carnival Night Zone at a different point (Also idk what anyone says, I love the PC tracks more)
I loved both Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R.
Red charri being in the background i was expecting the usual end skit but its just "what are you doin back there?" "Iunno
Did you also get Fern?
@@dylansharp8471 You mean Finn's counterpart? Yes.
17:00 PREPARE TO CHALLENCE!!😤
There’s a hard to see evidence that it’s a g and not a c.
i just realized that Windy Valley and the Genesis version of Green Grove Zone are the same song thanks to this video
My mind is blown.
Puppet Panic is used in Twinkle Park's theme as well.
14:40
Bro I cannot get over this rant about the fish in this game.
That doesn't make any sense lol
Doesn't Tails describe what the Sonics do in Generations as "running through time and space to repair the different places they've been to"? Because if they're just dreams, that means Classic Eggman doesn't get "kidnapped" by the Time Eater, and us saving Sonic's friends makes entirely no sense. And it being a memory makes even less sense because why on Earth would he remember the fight against Perfect Chaos but not that he went Super?
Source on that?
for sin 19 (7:37 - 7:49), i want to point out that Sonic 3D Blast's Saturn version was actually NOT developed at the same time as the Genesis/Mega Drive version. they may have been released at around the same time, but the Saturn version was actually worked on *after Sonic Xtreme was cancelled* and SEGA showed up to Traveler's Tales and requested that the game would be ported to Saturn. 3D Blast on the Saturn was pretty much the replacement for Xtreme.
Red Charriii just chillin the background threw me off I didn't expect him to just be there
I'm more stunned by the Jesus fish deep lore than how bad the traveler tales versions are.
4:29 We've seen the bluebird before. She literally had her own game for arcade and Master Systsem before Sonic that's the reason why they're even called "flicky" in the first place.
The sponsor part is genuinely great, i wish people could actually do amusing ad reads, great work man
I keep replaying the "PREPARE TO CHALLENCE!" part over and over. Just the way you say it cracks me up every time I hear it.
In all seriousness: PLEASE, for people that Haven’t
*LISTEN TO THE SONIC R SOUNDTRACK!*
It is SUPER Good! And my favorite is probably Back in Time
Work It Out is my favorite, but it's all great.
I had a very good time in Lego dimensions (even tho i had very little characters) but I did manage to Grab Sonic and done that level pack. I loved it a lot cause of the references, the overall story and just being able to enjoy Sonic as Lego
Great, now I want a video on EWW LEGO Batman.
Awesome video as always!
Fun correction: "PREPARE TO CHALLENCE" isn't actually what it says, the font just makes the G and C look SUPER similar.
19:24
Actually, the second C kinda looks like a G with its different shape. But it’s so subtle that I never noticed it until now.
that's because it clearly is a "G"
@@markerikson7423 I know
LEGO DIMENSIONS, I used to love that game so much. I didn’t even know there was a sonic section 💀
Never thought I’d see you cover it in this series of all things. I forgot how many fun references all the characters had
Good video bro 👍🏾.
Touch the Advance Series Already 😭😭😭
That sin regarding Batman and Gandalf is probably my favorite sin you’ve ever deliver (besides calling out Vector’s insensitively in Shadow the Hedgehog)
Real talk, was not expecting to learn about Jesus Fish lore in a Sonic video today.
(Also that ad was cool as heck)
The mark of a good youtuber is one who's ad I don't skip.
"Prepare to challenge" doesn't even sound right by itself.
Fun fact about Sonic R: on the disc I have (the 1998 XPLOSIV release which has the soundtrack on the game!), the 'R' in 'Sonic R' stands for "Racer".
Oh yeah, The LEGO Dimensions Sonic the Hedgehog Pack was awesome too.
28:08 remember, he got Amnesia after Sonic Adventure 2
I love how this went from a normal ad to "Holy crap, I need this right now!"
It’s actually isn’t changed the g originally looked like that
It does say “Prepare to Challenge” the G just looks too subtle compared to the C. Putting the letters side by side you will see a slight difference!
19:25 the C and G has a very small difference between them, so I'm not surprised to confuse Challenge with Challence
That sponsor segment was absolutely fantastic! I can't even begin to describe how hard I laughed! Absolutely top notch.
7:47 No the saturn version was developed way near Christmas period of '96 after sonic x-treme was cancelled. In fact the saturn ost was composed in only 2 weeks and Jaquess never had time to score it.
I lost it at "man door hand hook car door", I freaking love that copypasta.
20:22 creepypasta still called, they want there nostalgia back
9:22 the reason they're in the tubes is because the manual states that eggman didn't have time to out the flickies into the badniks due to how fast sonic had gotten to his lair so had to put them into tubes
a missed sin for not pointing out the knock off sonic music imitations during the lego dimensions segment at 20:26
The fact you spend about 3 out of 6 minutes of your EWW Sonic R on the Jesus fish(which I never even heard about until this video) is pretty funny.
I love how the entire fish rant was just Charriii deciding to spite that one guy (you know who you are) which somehow ended up becoming Monsoons speech about memes from MGR: Revengance
Also another potential sin for Dimensions, Eggman called Mecha Sonic (Mk.I from Sonic 2 and not Mk.II from Sonic 3 & Knuckles) his first creation to truely rival Sonic, which is total boosh since Mecha Sonic does basically nothing, but even then it would be wrong because Metal Sonic came before Mecha chronologically.
17:25
Okay so for this sin, yes, it does sound a bit backwards, but there's a couple of details you missed.
Shadow holding a gun in LEGO Dimensions was the best part of the game.
