My goodness, lm getting old, lm 66yrs old now and watching these marvellous people l watched as a small boy on TV. Such great memories, may they all R.I.P
Happy to know you're 66 years and so am I and I've grown up watching Hollywood movies from my elementary school days here in Pune City Jai Maharashtra. Greetings to you.
Yes, we have lost our Western movies and tv series and they were dearly loved and respected by we their FANS! My prayers for U and Ur family, co workers and us Ur fans. God Bless!
It's bad enough when my parents generation (1920's) pass, but I really feel old when the child actors of my childhood start passing. Thank you for putting this memorial together
“I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY!”♥️SEYMORE, “I HAVE TO SAY, HOW RIGHT YOU ARE!” OMGOSH! I have felt the exact same way, since sometime in my 20’s. Once my Nana passed away, when I was in my mid 20’s, it broke my heart! I remember her saying how all her friends, from her generation, were now gone & how lonely she was! I felt so bad for her! 😢My mother then moved up “in line” as the oldest in the family, taking over my grandmother’s previous position, of matriarch of our family. Sadly my dear mother then passed away four yrs ago, this coming October 2022! Her high school reunions, that I always attended with my mother, after my stepfather died in the late 80’s at a very young age, grew smaller & smaller w/ each reunion. Gosh, how I miss my beloved mother & Nana! I became aware that I have moved into the position of “eldest”, the matriarch, with our dearly loved sons & grandchildren. I clearly remember myself as youngest in line, as a teenager in the 60’s & then in my early 20’s, w/my life seemingly , stretching out forever, with infinite possibilities before me. Now, Lynn, SEYMORE & everyone here responding, it is exactly as you all have said. I see so many dearly loved celebrities from the 60’s in movies, tv and recording passing away! It is so startling to hear of their deaths! Isn’t it funny how 65 seemed so “ancient to us all ( at least it did me!”😂) way back when I was in my teens & early 20’s???” I never gave it a second thought, about getting older or “aging”, way back then, figuring it was something far off in the future! I remember my grandmother telling me how fast time was going by, when she was just 65 & that admission truly surprised me! I always thought time would go “slowly by” when you were “older.”I never forgot her words though & I now realize just how right my dear Nana was! BJ THOMAS, JOHNNY CRAWFORD, ANNETTE FUNICELLO, SANDRA DEE, PETER FONDA ….. the list goes on & on. Each time a dearly loved celebrity passes away, I am incredulous thinking “that person was so young!” I then inwardly cringe thinking “OMGOSH, that person that died was in my generation, or someone I grew up watching ( scary)!!! It seems impossible that they have passed! I also realize, just as my sweet Nana predicted so long ago, the older you get, the faster life does indeed seem to be passing by, just as she predicted!!😀Wishing you all the very best in life! ♥️
Karen,.. my parents are still alive but I know that when they die that will leave me the oldest generation. but I don't feel sad about that because I look forward to the prophecies in the Bible being fulfilled about the resurrection. Jesus proved when he was on Earth that the resurrection could happen he performed these resurrections in front of hundreds of people at times. so we can know and count on them happening. I will give you some scriptures to comfort you when you think about the fact that you are next. Acts 24:15, John 5:28 and 29, 11:11~44, in January my oldest sister died and now my only uncle has died just a few days ago.😢 SO death is more prevalent now and will continue to be so as my family ages. BUT I just keep remembering the resurrection hope. and as Psalms chapter 37 says the wicked will be gone the meek/righteous will inherit the earth and live forever on it that is in verse 29. Sincerely Tammie 🙋🏼💞😇
Some of the best of a best generation of Westerns. All will be missed but never forgotten, for their great body of work, and in no small part because of these preserved interviews and remembrances here on AWOW.
I saw faces today that I knew years ago and haven't seen for several years thanks for posting great video..... , it is definitely confirmed I am old......
It is so sad to see the guys you grew up with die. You realize that none are spared and you will soon follow. Thank you James Arness, Kitty,Doc, Chester and Festus thank you all for making the journey of countless millions less mundane and more joyful.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE MEMORIAL OF WESTERN STARS. BEAUTIFULLY DONE. MY HUSBAND WHO PASSED 2 YEARS AGO AND I SAW A LOT OF WESTERNS. HE WOULD ONLY GO TO THE MOVIES IF IT WAS A WESTERN. I ALSO BECAME A BIG FAN.
Hearing about some of these actors passing away was like getting one gut punch after another. If time doesn't fly, it sure gallops. Many of these actors and their roles in movies and TV series were truly immortal, or so I thought. It makes me think of my own mortality.
Thank you, Rob, for your outstanding work in preserving the history of the Western genre. We so appreciate the insight and reflections of these irreplaceable artists.
What an absolutely wonderfully put together memorial for the classic film legends the planet lost last year. I appreciate the time and work you put into such a precious episode of ,"A Word On Westerns". Thank you Rob so much for your tireless efforts in allowing fans of westerns to remember and enjoy them. Kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia.
Very nicely put together, Rob. I hope that future generations have an interest in this period of entertainment history. Obviously, it won't be a huge audience, but you deserve much praise for grabbing the opportunity of having conversations with these people and putting them where they may very well be available forever in some format. Time is running out for all of us, and your cause is a noble one.
This is perhaps one of the greatest generations of actors put together by our great lord , that will never be equal in any generations . It is so sad to see all my favorite actors that i grew up with are now leaving us .

People my age will probably remember Dean Stockwell best for his role of Al on Quantum Leap. Dr. Sam Beckett may not have found his way home but Admiral Al Calavicci did. R.I.P. to him and all the other Western & non-Western actors we lost in 2021. Thank you all for the memories and thank you, Mr. Word, for reminding us of those we have lost.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography pictures 📷 enabling viewers to better understand what/whom the orator was describing. Although exiting their lifespans early. A wonderful way to be remembered thru their acting careers.
A wonderful and comprehensive tribute to the departed people who made us love Westerns. As time goes on we will lose more of the great ones. They all left their contributions to film and tv that will never come around again. Thank you for this wonderful tribute.
There must be something about westerns,so many of the 🌟 lived to a ripe old age.Miss the westerns.I hope Ricky North from Champion The Wonder Horse, who later quit acting is still around.
I was a big fan of William Smith and his brothers. Many of these great actors I would recognize from various movies but I didn't know their names. Thanks for this little memorial to some great actors.
So glad to see another great actor from Puerto Rico, the 1-derful Juano Hernández, on the poster of Stars In My Crown, at 12:04 as part of the Dean Stockwell tribute. 🇵🇷
I grew up watching these tv shows and movies. I've always tried to live my life the way these western heroes acted. I am who I am because if these shows. Thank you for giving me my true north.
This was a very good video, sure am glad I found this, and thanks for sharing. I have seen a lot of these movies. I am not bragging or anything but I have always loved western movies. I am Canadian by birth, but now live in the USA. I will only say I am as old or older than some of these guys. This is about all I have to say, and again I have to say thanks you once again for this video. See you soon in the next video.
So many movies with so many memories!!! Actors & Actresses that we don't often know or even remember their names 😢 because of the "Big Names" which we do come to know. I remember watching F-Troop as a child and enjoying it, but when I tried to watch the reruns as an adult a few years ago and didn't really understand it. Still, High Plains Drifter is my favorite Western along with Bandalero! I also enjoyed 5 Card Stud and El Dorado! Yaphet Kotto was, of course, Mr. Big in 1 of my favorite James Bond movies, "Live And Let Die" as well as a supporting cast with Robert Mitchem!!! And Lonesome Dove was a Great Western Miniseries Movie! I used to watch that with my mother when she was alive! Gunsmoke! Loved that show! Just so many memories!!! Thanks for this!
Well, this was an emotional trail ride. So many memories of even the meanest of western villains, and of course the heroes they made look so good. And the behind-the-camera pros that brought out the best in all of them. Those sweet but always solid western ladies. The ‘child’ actors. This Tribute was sensitively, beautifully, and tastefully done. Never maudlin, always respectful. Some good laughs and a song or to as well, to balance our warm sadness of memories past.
To many in just a years time .all from my childhood. Thank God we can still have the pleasure of watching them with all the Great work they have done. Gone but far from forgotten.
I'm a huge fan of Westerns, but I'm now 64 myself and my kids don't have the same love for Westerns that I have. I fear that when we 'Boomers' are gone that the Western will be forgotten. And that's a tragedy!
That's what we think, too, Ed. I'm doing my best to feature and highlight why we still enjoy them and hope the younger Demo discovers our channel and learn to appreciate westerns. Thanks.
What a wonderful tribute and a celebration of such a memorable tine in our entertainment history. What struck me is that these actors and actresses really loved their craft and with such integrity. It was not about a red carpet or expensive houses but dedication
Hi Rob - how nice to see you on this video - I reckon I haven't seen you in 35 years ! Nice piece with Johnny Crawford. I remember him very fondly from the Adventures of William Tell. I believe you brought him in on that. I ended up directing Johnny in a couple of episodes, as well as producing all the episodes he was in. He was such a decent fellow. RIP.
Thanks. Yep, I brought Johnny for our pilot with Robert Forster, Harry Carey and Guy Madison. What fun those shows were. Johnny was a very special presence. However, I can't tell who this is...rlsfrny. Please ID yourself so we can communicate. Hope all is well. Thanks again. Rob
Thank you Rob for this tribute to all these great stars be they actors, actresses, stuntmen, directors and all those who were involved in making some brilliant Western films and TV series. Sadly there was couple I didn't know had passed, your legacy lives on. RIP 🙏
As a kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, I was lucky in that I had a loving and great father who raised cattle and trained horses, so obviously we watched all the westerns on TV. When the Houston Fatstock Show & Rodeo came around every February, he would take us kids downtown Houston to the Sam Houston Coliseum to the rodeo to see and hear western stars such as Chuck Connors, Johnny Crawford, Michael Landon, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, James Arness, and others. Those are memories that I will never forget. God bless our western cowboy stars from a by-gone era.🐎🤠🐂
Rob: You always do a wonderful job in your annual Tribute sessions to some of the most familiar faces in the western genre. Thank You for the great memories so well summarized and honored.
I might be one of the biggest fans of westerns. I grew up watching every western I could that was on TV at the time. I was born in 1950 so you know I watched some of the best they ever made. I still watch a bunch of them now on the GRIT TV channel and the ME TV channel as well.and on some of the streaming services too.
I'm sorry for popping on with this late reply to your video post, Rob. This is so wonderfully done and it brought back so many heartfelt memories of watching all these wonderful people while I was growing up and as I became older, actually being lucky enough to cross paths with some of my favorite actors and actresses. What's really sad is the fact that many of these older actors and actresses are never noted on the news when they pass. It's disgraceful in my heart to have to be on your tippy-toes and dig for that news...because they deserve top credit and more. This video brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you so much for such a beautiful acknowledgment of these actors and actresses. They will be forever missed.💔
What a wonderful tribute to those who brought us so much. I did not know that Don Collier had passed. He offered to buy me a steak dinner once about 9 years ago at the High Chapparel Reunion in Tuscon, AZ, but it was a 1400 mile trip and my health and finances would not allow it. It sure would have been an experience though if I could have went. I loved him in High Chaparral. Thank you for creating this tribute.
I grew up in the 50s watching bonanza with my parents in Washington d c.i was glad to watch this spectacular collection of clips of actors lives.sadly we will never see these types of movies and tv shows again.clint Eastwood has done a fine job with his western but the genre has played out.my mother used to get me bolo ties and western shirts.as i grew up i watched rin tin tin wanted dead or alive gunsmoke the rifle man paladin and many more.i will always remember Johnny Crawford saying paw to his father.stay safe people and may God bless our country in2022 and bring us out of the darkness we are in now.
thanks so much for reminding us that for so many years, these folks both in front of, and behind the camera, will always be a part of our lives. what better way to show how much we regarded them than to be able to watch old tv shows and movies never to forget them.
Rob you couldn't have done a more respectful and considerate tribute to these wonderful icons of Western lore. We are so fortunate to have someone like you to put together these tributes. We will miss them but thanks to you we will have a loving tribute of their life and careers. Had some lumps in my throat and a few tears while viewing this. Thanks many times over for all your work to keep these memories alive in our hearts.
@@AWordonWesterns it was from my heart and I meant every word. We are privileged and blessed to have you. We don't Knight people here but if we did you would be 'Sir Rob Word'
A beautifully done tribute, Rob. It's almost exhausting on a week-to-week (or a day-to-day) basis when you read of another person passing that helped shape the entertainment in our lives. It's like watching a swath of your life disappear, off into the sunset.
Yes, it really is . I love my westerns ! Me, young... sittin on the floor(7 kids) in front of the TV , AND LIL ME ..RELISHING EVERY SHOW . Now ? 🤠 I sit in a Chair .. but I still watch & BUY DVD's of those exact shows ... STILL RELISHING EVERY MOMENT BUT WITH JUST ALIL.... 😔 MORE . 🤠🖖
Great remembrance of all these fantastic human beings. Congratulations to them all for their brilliant performance in the theater of life. May them all R.I.P.
Larry McMurtry was a gigantic writer, and will forever be. His Lonesome Dove novel is anthological in itself, it is one of the best piece of work on the history of the west.
@@susanmccormick6022 Thanks for the reply Susan. I'm sure there's so much that I don't know about him. He's someone that when clicking through movies, if I saw WS in one, that's what I was watching that night.
I knew several of them on here had passed, but there are several that I had not heard about until now. I hate to hear about the more recent passing of Don Collier. I remember him in several westerns, and as a child and teenager I remember him as the “Hubba Bubba Gumfighter man,” because he did the Bubble Gum commercials back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Thank you for this wonderful video, and for all the great interviews that help keep us connected to the western shows that we loved. It makes them not seem so far in the distant past seeing that some of the Actors and Actresses are still alive and well.
@@doveofgrace I have a notion that Blue Boy(Mark Slade)is the only one of the cast now left & he is in his 80s.Hard to believe.Had u a fav?Sis liked Manolito & had a Chaparral record at one time And a Virginian one.Buck was my fav.Hank Darrow said he(Cameron Mitchell)used to disappear when visitors came around.Laughs.I miss the westerns, espec THC, Virginian,Bonanza,Larado,Jesse James...Well,I loved them all really.Used to b in a western reenactment group.Great fun.
@@susanmccormick6022 , I love all of those westerns that you mentioned. I was a child of the 70s, and a teenager/young adult of the 80s. Those were all family-time shows. I love Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Virginian, The High Chaparral, The Rifleman, and Cheyenne, about all of the main characters are gone. I liked Hank Darrow, and just learned of his passing a few days ago, about the same time I found out about Don Collier. That’s when TV was good. I really don’t watch any modern TV shows at all.
From 🇵🇷 Puerto Rico, Thank You Mr Word, for your touching tribute to our Henry Darrow !!!

Rowdy Yates! I’m 74 and grew up with westerns, had the cap gun, holster and cowboy hat. And a red wagon that subbed as a covered wagon.

And Lonesome Dove was a Great Western Miniseries Movie! I used to watch that with my mother when she was alive! Gunsmoke! Loved that show! Just so many memories!!!
Thanks for this!
Sure thing, Derrick. Thank you for your thoughts.
Rob, you have showcased these Western Stars accomplishments in life and honored them at their passing. Thank you for all your fine works.
Thanks, Winton
I must say Rob my condolences to YOU as I know many of these wonderful people were your friends.
Thanks, Wes.
Thank you Rob for a beautiful tribute to these wonderful people who made the westerns so great! They will never be replaced!
Thank you so much for sharing all these Hero’s. My childhood was enriched by all these talented folks.
I laughed and I cried.Thank you,so very much, for this beautiful tribute. As long as there are films, they will never die.
Thank you for this. Sad, but at the same time uplifting because of the wonderful memories they leave behind.
Thank you very much, Joe. I like "emotional trail ride." Seems to sum it up nicely.
Beautifully done, some of the great actors, remember that just don't make the great westerners like they used to. Reruns are a blessings.
Thanks, Betty
You show such respect to everybody - those who are still with us and those who are sadly not. Thank you from Derbyshire in England.
Thanks, Sara
Loved Rin Tin Tin......💖
I remember many of these people..... THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES ❤️

Rob

@@rlsfrny Hi, Richard. Very nice to hear from you. I totally understand. Hope you’re having fun!
@@AWordonWesterns Is there a less public forum on which I could get in touch with you? Linked In perhaps?
Thank you Rob for this tribute to all these great stars be they actors, actresses, stuntmen, directors and all those who were involved in making some brilliant Western films and TV series. Sadly there was couple I didn't know had passed, your legacy lives on. RIP 🙏
As a kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, I was lucky in that I had a loving and great father who raised cattle and trained horses, so obviously we watched all the westerns on TV. When the Houston Fatstock Show & Rodeo came around every February, he would take us kids downtown Houston to the Sam Houston Coliseum to the rodeo
to see and hear western stars such as Chuck Connors, Johnny Crawford, Michael Landon, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, James Arness, and others. Those are memories that I will never forget.
God bless our western cowboy stars from a by-gone era.🐎🤠🐂
Nice memories, T4T. Thanks.
Rob: You always do a wonderful job in your annual Tribute sessions to some of the most familiar faces in the western genre. Thank You for the great memories so well summarized and honored.
Thanks, Bob. Another tough year for us classic western fans.
Time is not an enemy. It is a companion. It reminds us to cherish every moment. Because they won't come again.
Hadn't thought of Henry Darrow for years. He was excellent.Full of character and the camera conveyed it all.May he rest in peace.
Loved Mr. Darrow especially in The High Chaparral. RIP
TELL ME HENRY PUERTO RICAN NAME?💞💓.
We lost so many wonderful actors and actresses in 2021. A great tribute.
Thanks, Nahi. Yes, they will be missed. They all certainly deserve the notice.
Thank you for honoring the fallen Western stars we all grew up with, truly appreciate your efforts in honoring them.
Nice memories, mark. thanks
Greetings out of Africa - what a fantastic tribute - Thanks for sharing and preserving those memories.
THANK YOU FOR MEMORIES, GREAT ACTORS, AND ACTRESSES.
Thank you, Mr. Word. As a kid, Henry Darrow’s Manolito was my favorite tv show character as I would tune in to High Chaparral every Friday night.
Me, too, Grant. Thanks.
I too missed Mr. Darrow and Mr. Collier.
I go with that too ! 🤠🥰💓
What a wonderful tribute!!! Thank you for the memories. A time when movies were movies and the stars were stars...always in our minds and hearts!!!
Love this! Thank you
You're so welcome, Janet. Thanks
One of my favorite actors. William Smith. God bless all of these people that have passed. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Rob and crew, this was a well deserved tribute to some very fine western performers and directors. My they RIP.
Cowboy s don't die ride em guys. Thanks for remembering my child hood god bless you all
Wonderful people in fabulous careers. We enjoyed them and their work. Sadly missed🙏✌️
Yes, true, Nic. Thanks.
thanks so much for reminding us that for so many years, these folks both in front of, and behind the camera, will always be a part of our lives. what better way to show how much we regarded them than to be able to watch old tv shows and movies never to forget them.
RIP all those great guys and girls .❤️🙏
I loved Henry Darrow on high chaparral.. I was a very young girl but had a big crush..may he rest in peace
Excellent video Rob. They all will be sorely missed. Thank God for their work in film and thank you as well.
We lost a lot of good ones last year. Not many of the Great ones left. We must treasure them while we have them.
My wife and I love the old westerns. Those are some of the greats that have ridden off into the sunset.
Thanks, Doug.
Loved this. We will never have westerns and movies like this again, ever ❤️
Time is against us, for our Western Stars, we all age.
Thank you for this Tribute.
Thank you very much, Wayne.
@@AWordonWesterns it was from my heart and I meant every word. We are privileged and blessed to have you. We don't Knight people here but if we did you would be 'Sir Rob Word'
I loved watching western along with my parent .
😔 MORE . 🤠🖖

Thank you SO much! A wonderful tribute.
Rob I love a Word on Westerns this tribute to all the greats of the past is wonderful thank you for your tireless efforts to showcase these stars .
Thanks, Charlie.
Thanks Rob, Great One again. William Smith, their was something about that guy, he was something special.
Jim Stevens:An actor, poet & linguist among other things.I was a big Larado fan & was in touch with Joanne Cervelli Smith for some time
@@susanmccormick6022 Thanks for the reply Susan. I'm sure there's so much that I don't know about him. He's someone that when clicking through movies, if I saw WS in one, that's what I was watching that night.
Very bitter, sweet Rob… But a great presentation nonetheless… Thank you!
Oh Henry Darrow! I didn't know and am learning this now. I always liked his great smile. He was Chakotay's father on Star Trek Voyager.
Wasn't Don Collier,Chaparral ramrod,last of the cast?V sad.No more reunions.
@@susanmccormick6022 , he was in the High Chaparral. If there are any left there’s only one or two. It’s sad. 😢
