Just saying thanks - I’ve been an ICU nurse several years, but had never heard of the TEG before CRNA school. My life depends on quick understanding of these things and the visual explanation is invaluable. Thank-you!
You are a God send! These videos are amazing. I’m a multimodal learner so I appreciate the color coded visuals and conversational explanations. So easy to listen to, visualize, and bring to conception the most complicated topics! I’m a CVICU RN and these videos have helped me so much! Thanks again!
Been on the field for 8 years and worked in 4 different countries, never heard or seen TEG. anyway, thank you very much for the precious information that keep us updated. Many Thanks my friend 🥰
You have never heard about TEG because it was recognized as a valid method by FDA, although it was discovered in the 1940's. Option 1: it's a brilliant technique that nobody recognized as brilliant for, hm, 70 years? Option 2: this is overengineered, absurdly complex method that cannot work.
Eddie, can't thank you enough! I was only told that we want to see a champagne glass shape, not tear drop, not martini. Never fully understood why and what each component indicates, until now. This is a video I will be watching several times in order to fully comprehend.
Omg! Thank u for going in depth with this TEG. I always encounter this when CVT surgeons ask for this prior to heart surgery. We don't do this test in our hospital and replace it with another test. I am learning so much in your videos!
Awesome! It really is a pretty cool way of looking at the clotting process and is quite useful in practice. I'm glad to hear the video was helpful for you.
Have an interview on the 8th April and was looking into how their machines work so I'm not so completely clueless as I've never used a TEG before. Thanks!
Great to hear Andy! Happy to have been able to help shed light on this. It is really useful and its always good to have a good understanding of its results and potential treatments.
Wow! Thank you for this video! A lot of nurses don’t know what this really is (including myself) and it’s great to get some education on it! Looks pretty complex but broken down like this is very helpful in the basic understanding. Now I can look at my patients TEG value and know what I’m looking at 😁
So awesome to hear this! This is my whole goal to try and help explain some of these topics in ways that make it easier for others to grasp and understand the concepts. I'm happy to hear this video was help for you and wishing you all the best!
Great lesson! I'd love to see TEG and ROTEM clinical cases to solve together. It would help my clinical reasoning a lot. Best explanation on the interwebs of TEG!
Wow, thank you so much Vivi! I've had a lot of people ask for clinical cases in the past, but I just haven't found a good fit for them with the approach with these videos. Glad to hear you liked the lesson though!
💗A heartfelt THANK YOU for all your hard work and kindness💗❣ You seem to be a very humble and sympathetic human being who really wants to help and encourage everyone in their learning process💕😌. I hope you yourself are well and taking care of yourself as if you were one of your patients...💓
You are very welcome and thank you so much for such an uplifting comment Elina. I really appreciate that and hope you are doing well and taking care yourself!
Thank you so much! Depending on the topic covered, if I feel it is helpful to have more understand of the A&P and Pathophysiology prior to the topic then I make sure and include that in there. Glad to hear you enjoy them!
👉R 5 to 10min 👉K initiation to 20mm strength point1 to 3 min (Cryo ppt for fibrinogen) 👉Alpha angle 50 to 70° Cryo of reduced 👉MA 55 to 73mm platelet and DDAVP
Oh Dear, Today I was night duty and all what I was thinking of is you and TEG and really how important it is. We had that DIC patient ,in which Doctor took the decision to administer tranixemic acid regularily. I tried to discuss and explain but he shut me off. I hope she will make it without perminent disability :( .
Wonderful video! Do you think using TEG exclusively in cirrhotic patients or patients on DOACs who are bleeding (where INR is not useful), may be useful to guide therapy besides just giving PCC and Vit K?
Dear sir when patients are started heparin then what type of kit are use in this test.. I mean kevolin kit or kevolin with heparin kit or any other kit if you know please suggest me.
Glad to hear you liked it. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to add subtitles. Believe it or not but they take a very long time to do and I just don't have that free time available right now. Sorry.

In DIC, all coagulation factors are decreased. I was wondering how come R is shortened in the DIC example you showed. Shouldn't it be prolonged?
Brief extraordinary simple to catch and hold

Great great!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
Is TEG something done at bedside/in surgical suite or does lab typically handle it?
Both! At least where I am, in the OR they have a machine to be able to run right there. In our units, we send the specimen off to lab to be run.
What's the difference between k & alfa?
Rock it by tokyo machine from rocket league 👌👌
Thanks too much.
Is there a NICU version of your page?
No sorry. I've got not experience in that or PICU.
Could you do a video for mtp
Yes! It's on the todo list :) Hopefully soon.
What is function fibrinogen?
Converted to fibrin and forms clot.
Video starts at 2:00
This is so complex, so dependent from viscosity, temperature... There is no way in the Universe that this thing can be reliable.
Please cover the individual channels - CK, CKH, CFF etc.
Also it's "aminocaproic", not "aminocaporic" acid
All good otherwise !
TXA should not be routinely given in DIC!
Transanemic acid

Thank you
