  • The Suzuki GT 185 is a bike that fits right into the commuter-bike definition of the '70s. It is Suzuki's smallest pure-street motorcycle. The initial cost is lower, chains & tires are cheaper and last longer, this bike can be self-maintained or serviced quite cheaply. Without any doubt, this Suzuki gets the job done and deliver much more than expectations.

    I have the '75 GT185M. Super easy to set timing and carb tune on this motor. Nice little powerband kicks in about 6k rpm. The two-stroke exhaust smells delicious.

    I had an M reg model back in the 1980s with a pathetic drum brake on the front. Excellent engine and proved very reliable and pretty fast.

    a beaut, thanks for the video, and a question? i just restored a 1974 gt185L, and i've incorporated a tachometer of the style of yours, which is far superior to the style of the original tacho on the bike and also the speedo. i'm wondering if you know when/where the gt185 incorporated the more classy style of tacho/speedo like yours? thanks again!

    The model is the GT185 EX. it ran concurrently with the GT200 X5, as a cheaper option, and was restyled to clear old inventory. A friend had one.
    it used the same "Flexible" forks as the GT100, GT125, GT185, GT200 X5 & GT250 X7. (The cause of the X7's notorious delayed steering issues).
    It uses the same wheels as the GT200 X5 & GT250 X7.

      Could you explain me/ tell me More about that handling problem?

    • @mollyfilms
      @mollyfilms 9 місяців тому +1

      @@laureanosanchez5265the handling problems were mainly down to the 17 year olds who rode them. I was one of them. It was a fabulous bike at aged 17.

      @@mollyfilms Fitting a Micron fork brace cured the X7 flexy fork issue. I couldn't afford to do this, so did the other option and replaced the front mudguard with the heavily braced one from a GT185.

    • @CZ350tuner

      @@laureanosanchez5265 At speeds over 60 MPH, there would be a noticeable delay between when the bars were turned and the front wheel responding. The delay effect increased in proportion to the speed of the bike. If riding through a succession of curves, underwear could be stained.
