  • The new chairman of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners Donna Jones, has warned parents to get a grip on their kids as they use social media platforms, such as TikTok, to orchestrate raids and mobs in some of England’s busiest areas. Southampton, Oxford Street and Essex have been the latest areas to be affected by hooliganism style behaviour - but whose responsibility is it to tackle this ever-growing issue? Kelle’s constantly monitoring what her kids are doing online, and Olivia thinks these platforms definitely have the capacity to monitor worrying trends more closely.

If your child is dumb enough to do that paracetamol challenge, that is not social media that is parenting. Kids cannot be sheltered from everything, they are going to see things at some point, if you do your job as a parent your child will look at the challenge and think those people are dumb.

Most “trolling” is committed by grown adults. There have been studies proving that people doing it display genuine sadistic tendencies.

Trolling is funny, because people take themselves too serieously these days, I literally read comments for the troll laughs. And comments like yours are unnecessary, boring and also unproven.

My daughter is not on TikTok for this very reason and many others!!! It is totally the responsibility of the parents. But it also lies with the social media companies as well.

I see so many friend's kids putting inappropriate content on social media - why is 12 year old girl dancing with hardly any clothes on pubic accounts to get attention? Do they realize dirty old men can look at them.

I’m like you, I much prefer QI/Have I Got News For You and Question Time, followed by some Classic FM before bed.

So parents can't be parents nowadays? Wait, sorry i meant parent since women wanted to throw away their duties to raise a child and marry before your carry.

The paracetamol challenge is non existent. I use tiktok most days and never, ever seen any of these 'challenges'. Its a scare tactic

I personally think they need an ID system rather than the question of 'are you 13 years old at least?' With no way of verification.
So many children in my age group lied about their age to get on social media.
Meanwhile, I was the oddball who was too honest and waited until I was actually 13 to get my facebook account.
And personally I think 13 is a good minimum. I definitely wouldn't have coped well if I started social media at age 10.
And I easily rejected the trend to go on like 10 different social medias. Facebook was enough for me.
But I am more on the side that these companies need to do more. Yes parents need to sit their kids down. But the ones who will make the biggest change are the conpanies.

I think the children are sick of the world. Riots happened in 2011 too, because th youth are literally sick of their parents bs and the rest.

@@grzegorzkmiec9195 I completely agree with you, but I can also see that from a young person's perspective, if they've had their future ruined because of something out of their control despite how hard they've tried, I can see their frustration, I don't think they are thinking in terms of business owners and more just angry at the world.
