I lost a friend to skin cancer, she was only 44. As the saying goes “There’s no such thing as common sense”. This is a good message even if it’s only a reminder for many.

When its cloudy its hard to realize that the sun continues to burn. The worse burn I got was a very cloudy day and my skin never felt hot. I now know to always protect.

Windy days too, my last sunburn it was so windy, I felt cool and it didn't worry me.
      Sea breezes are a thing..

Wow that’s just a terrible burn. I am Spanish. And olive skin and my children and my husband and I we all use factor 50 the whole time we go in the sun. On holiday or not. I have seen Brits in the Canarias with skin peeling from burns like that and still in the sun all day. It is so dangerous. Skin cancer is no joke.

Cause we feel the beauty standard pressure to look brown is the reason unfortunately

Your sunscreen can also get old too i guess, I wonder if that is a thing..

@@sjla2009 buy a new sunscreen every summer for your holidays. Reapply whilst in the sun. And wear sunscreen every day in your face and neck as a daily routine. I had a friend who had skin cancer from going about his day every day.

@MsKenzo7 yeah I don't go out in the sun much anymore, I developed a mild sun allergy 🤷🏼‍♀️ so it's just me who's got sunscreen from 3 years ago

I had blisters from constant snorkelling in kos but I just put a t-shirt on from there on in, scarred for a few years but now you will ever know. Never went for treatment, yes it was painful but I was young and you only saw your gp if you were practically dying in those days.

I don't think it's fair to say that just because you're a nurse that you should be embarrassed. We are human first and having the knowledge doesn't prevent you from just thinking like any normal human being when in the real world. In fact, just shows you the patients you get that compassion is important and never to judge. People are people. People underestimate regardless of how much they know. So in a way, the positive out of it, for her as a nurse, is she knows that people can make silly mistakes and underestimate situations and I think it'll make her a better nurse because she knows, we mess up sometimes. I am glad she's well and wish her all the best in the future.

So didn't re apply her lotion, then didn't treat her sunburn and also continued to sit in the sun........People told her it looks bad. Why is she on tv.

I find it difficult to believe that any person let alone a nurse does not have the sense to stay out of the sun now a days with climate warming. Every year the suns rays are stronger and stronger.

Worrying about your kids first though is a thing, I was like that with mine. Sometimes felt detached from my feelings, aches and pains 🤷🏼‍♀️

She's a nurse?? I got an incredibly painful 2nd degree burn on my face and arms in Barbados. Just walking around gave me a terrible burn on my toes! It was my fault, of course, and I didn't think my burn was newsworthy or try to blame someone else for not warning me that the sun can burn in the tropics! I made sure I was covered up after that day. The worst thing about her back is that hideous tattoo.

This is exactly same circumstances that happened to me when I was 13. It was my first holiday abroad and we went to north of Tenerife and the weather was cool and sky was overcast and I didn’t reapply my sun cream. Well next day I was red and blistered all over my body, I couldn’t walk or lay down and all so became very Ill throwing up for days. I’m 38 now and still have scars on my shoulders from the terrible sunburn.
