I have replaced the fuel pump. I have not started or bothered to add oil, as I checked last week, video titled smell it. car has been sitting on ramps, however, problem started happening prior to being left in the ramps. I also checked needle and seat. I even took car to specialty vw shop. carbs were synched & adjusted. they said carbs are not over flowing... I'm still not sure what problem is.
how to un stuck dellorto twin carb butterfly valve ..i had sprayed with few kinds of penetrant, but did not work.the vw beatle was left untouched for 4 months
How about a video on what look for when buying used Dellorto carbs. Found a C/L ad for dual Dellortos $250. But don't know how to evaluate them. I enjoy your videos,
Just move it side to side. If it self centers you probably do. Ace hardware and cut to length. I loose them all the time and carry spares but can never find them......
Hi, all your vids r great!!! I hav a little prob. My 69 bus, original 1500 singleport with dual Kadrons. I poured about 1/2 bottle of seafoam into full tank of gas. Ran good, but Couple days later, it started running rough, then it would stall, and sputter, sorta like when running on empty gas tank,..finally engine wouldnt start at all. Visually confirmed i have fuel in tank, so, im thinking debris has gotten clogged somewhere, or maybe the fuel pump was damaged from seafoam. I dont know. Any ideas or suggestions, of what to do next,? Thank u ezgz
I have an engine with dual carbs I am getting ready to put in my 1960 body. I have a removable apron, but do you think I will still need to remove the carbs to get it in? The first engine you are showing in this video, what does the installation look like? Thanks.
Hey EZGE Thanks for the informative walk around! I have a stock 1300 AR 1258cc engine I would like to DIY upgrade So I was looking thru the options and I got confused . I would like to keep my stock case closed and not change out the crank or open it other then making a bigger boar if needed. I would like to keep the original heads and only change valves or what ever is needed... Having said that what would be my best/biggest cc option of a new set of cylinders and pistons considering thees constraints? and what extra parts would I need for this project. like valves or springs? How big can I go? 88mm X 69mm = 1679cc 85.5mm X 69mm= 1585cc 90.5 mm X 69 mm=1775cc Thanks!
Not worth it to spend a lot of money on that old 1300 single port, single relief case. Keep that one alive for back up and start building a 1776 or 2000. It's a bolt together process with new parts. Expensive but will last you a long time with more smiles to the mile.
Unfortunately I have no choice but to stick with the original case. I can open it and change around crank, cam, and so on but I must keep the case(state licencing issues...). P.S. It Is a Dual Port Thanks!
I have a set of dual weber brevettato carburetor 44 idf And they did not come with no linkage my carburetor linkage connector is different than yours that connects to the carb it's just a big ball bearing with a hole in it And next hole down with 2 screws on the side of the carb not the top plate
Gday Kevin here from Australia. I love your videos. Would you be able to make a video of installing a engine with twin carburetors into a standard bug. From removing the carbys to reinstalling them and adjusting them.
Kevin, I just watched this whole vid again. It covers all the details without having the car in the way while I vid????? I have other vids on adjusting them. Good Luck with your project.
+TheEZGZ I agree though, I've driven a bug with a built 1915 with dual 44's if I remember correctly, it's hauled ass haha, I'm more of a stock guy now haha
To rich fuel mixture ( needle and seat bad in float valve) Fuel pump rupture as said. To high fuel pressure. I put a brand new Chinese rebuild kit in my stock carb and filled the tank with gas. Had the car facing uphill in the drive overnight and came out to find gas dripping out of the valve covers. Made a vid on that a few years back. I put the old needle and seat back in and kept everything else. Pls let me know when you find the problem. Thanks in advance
Dual carbs get better gas mileage and better performance. And they will perform good if its just a street vw. But if they aren't tuned correctly for your engine they can perform bad. And they can be a little scary for the first timer. But nothing better for a VW bug.
Years ago I helped a friend out with his carbs on his bug. I rebuilt and spec. them out. And synced them by ear. He didn't touch the carbs for about 8yrs. Although it was a summer car. But every time he drove it he had his foot in it. I know dirt in the idle or main jets can cause problems. But what other problems do you experience with dual carbs?
I know this is an old video but I’m glad I found it. I have to pull the carbs off of my wife’s ‘72 Kerman Gaia so they can be rebuilt. Thanks!
Glad it helped. Good luck with your project
Great video with good info. You must have been a teacher in your first life. Thanks for being there and videoing. VW:-)
Your to kind brotha :-)
Great Job GZ, easy instruction on the removal . Nice work, bet that will help.
Thanks Loyd appreciate the support :-)
How did you wire those lights on your manx I think I bought those same lights and I want to put them on rat bug using the stockish wiring harness

I enjoy your videos,

Your so right Mark. Thanks for commenting
Checking out some of your videos. good stuff!
Thanks you sir! Sure wish I had that old 30 A pickup back. Divorce Sucks. Oh well, I'll just follow you
Awesome Tim the Tool Man impression 😜👍🏻 great video Cheers 🍺🍺
LOL Thanks man. anything for a laugh
I will have to look and see if this one has the springs in the ends of the rod
Just move it side to side. If it self centers you probably do. Ace hardware and cut to length. I loose them all the time and carry spares but can never find them......
Thank you I need to know if I had to take the carburetors off before I they look like they'd hang up
That first time is always a learning curve

That sea foam is strong stuff and can eat fuel lines. Check all your filters. 7 hail mary's and 7 our fathers will help
Thanks for the video!
You have the parts to build something big bad and MORE POWER oh OH OH LOL

You can try but don't force things. I find it is easier to take them off.
@@TheEZGZ thanks. appreciate the videos.

Thanks!
Get a new case. They don't have numbers. Then go to harbor freight and buy some stamps.
Problem solved. :-)
Excellent thanks!
I looked under the car and It is a dual relief case and a Dual Port so now I am not sure I need a new case for the build
Great instructions
Thanks for the positive support my friend.

So you want to see me bleed and cry. LOL I am not going to run out and do it but the next time it comes up I will let all of you watch.

Your a legend
Hey Ez! There is a Soco swap meet on the 28th in the Springs!
I got a brochure on that. Maybe I will see you there. Look for Rusty the Baja :-)
+TheEZGZ I will! Hope to see you there! Might be some good deals. I'm selling 5x5 trailing arms and my ecotec engine swap (swap is in the bug still)
Good info EZ! But I'm glad I don't mess with dual carbs haha
Nothing better when there set up right.
+TheEZGZ I agree though, I've driven a bug with a built 1915 with dual 44's if I remember correctly, it's hauled ass haha, I'm more of a stock guy now haha
I am hot on your trail. Just rollin along still gets me there.
Fuel is getting into my oil. What would cause this?
piston rings going bad or your cylinders are getting a scored and letting small passages for the gas to come through.
Mechanical fuel pump diaphragm could be damaged which can let fuel leak into the case.

I agree. Eventually though they will act up and I don't like to work on things alone far from my shop. Been there done that to many times.
Dependability can be truly appreciated!!

Man no way you can reach this with this in a full body bug.
sad but true
