My new Vostok broke down in 2 days...

  • EDIT: 1 day after the video - the watch is winding again - I will keep you guys posted on what is going on!
EDIT 2: Nope, hand winding it will interact with the Auto mechanism and it stops winding again.
This is my Vostok Amfibia 090679.
    And honestly I love it!
Sadly it came with an issue...
I`m 99% positive that the Automatic Winding Mechanism has stopped working because the rotor just spins crazy without any resistance.
Anyways I`m sure warranty will take care of it - the sad part is that the watch will take some more time in transit back to Russia and than back to me.
But it happens guys - do not forget that this is 200 m water resistant, automatic watch with hand winding for 75$... QC misses this one but it is going to get fixed and will work like a charm!
    Will keep you posted!
If you are looking for a place to get Vostoks and parts for mod`s Meranom.com is the place to look!

This stuff does happen unfortunately. This is most likely caused by the automatic clutch wheel which allows the watch to be wound automatically without it turning the crown and stem and allows you to handwind the mainspring without turning the automatic works ( thats why handwinding an automatic vostok doesnt feel gritty or hard ) This wheel is very simply built and might have broke on your watch. Dirt would not cause this kind of problem as you can see both reversing wheels spin and the wheel underneath them also spins in the right direction.

Yep, honestly I`m not complaining. Vostoks are nice watches and the only bad thing is that shipping is very slow, I sent it back to Russia 10 days ago and it is still in transit. But it will get fixed and back to me. It`s just that - they could easily charge a bit more for the watches and up the quality control. Anyway - that`s what the warranty is for.

Good watches were made in the USSR. Now the quality is much worse.

    • @watchesgadgetsandstuff

I guess that is true - I have heard a lot of complaints about the quality control. I have bought 3 Vostoks in total. 2 for me and 1 for a gift - the one I bought as a gift stopped winding after 6-7 months of use and the other one that broke is in the video. It is a shame because the watches are good and interesting - I think people will be happy to pay a bit more for a watch if they can be confident that is better made but I guess Vostok figured the are doing OK as it is now...

It's a cool watch and as Vostoks are built like Russian tanks you don't expect them to break down. Like you I happen to think that the Vostok bracelet is ok. I don't think they are that bad generally but mostly people seem to hate them. 👍

That might be an issue but bit not in this case, the watch came like that from the factory. It has to do with the reverse wheels on the winding system. It turns out it is quite common. Anyways it is already fixed. Just for the record I never use that Date Hack... It always seemed like it is bad for the watch

I am glad you got this watch fixed. I have 3 Bostoc watches, 2 Amphibia and a K28 Komandirskie. I love all of them. No problems with them at all. One of the things I like about them is that they are easy to work on. If I have a problem with them I will just order a movement and replace it. Or, I can change the dial. Or, the hands. Or, the Bezel. Its easy to take the back off. Easy to reseal the back of the watch. The movement comes right out easily. The beauty of these watches is the simplicity which is why they are amazing!! Yes, they have quirks and they are not perfect. Not everyone appreciates them. I don't care. I have tried several different affordable watch brands. Bostoc is my favorite. I will never sell any of mine. There is no watch out there that is as bullet proof as a Bostoc.

I have a question. If you can replace all the parts then is it not the same watch anymore? The reason i ask is i have been looking on ebay for a new bezel for mine and you can literally buy all the parts.

    • @glenh4971
      @glenh4971 2 роки тому +1

@@vikvegas8593 In regards to the bezels. Not all the bezels are the right size for all Vostoc models. Make sure you are buying the right size bezel for your watch. I like the original bezels on mine so that is not an issue for me. The dials and hands and movements are pretty much interchangeable.

    • @namemissing1852

You're delusional. Nearly every other watch in the world is more reliable than a Vostok and that goes for some lesser named Chinese movements. Bulletproof is not a good way to explain them. Vostok are very well known for their unreliability, misaligned hands, stuttering second hand, low quality lume, not bothering to lubricate the movement and general terrible QC. For the amount of Vostoks sold, the issues people have are disproportionately large. The movement needs an upgrade in several areas. It always has. It's like if Seiko stopped updating their line of workhorsre movements even before the 7S series.

@@namemissing1852 That is part of what makes them special, for the price you pay, you get an amazing watch. I ordered mine from Russia, it came in a plastic box, it is the amphibia 128 case and so far so good. Also they have history and are built for war. If there was an apocalypse it is the kind of watch you would want. It is more than a watch it is an experience.

Where did you got it from? I bought mine from Meranom and wrote them an e-mail first and then send it to the address that is provided on their website - but please first contact the website from where you bought the watch before sending. Mearnom usually respond in about a day time. Honestly these are really cool watches but the build quality obviously lacks... Thay can do better if they raise the price a notch... 20-30% and build the movements properly. Just my 2 cents.
