Cold war drama's & novels are always worth it, but the reality of those who lived the life must have been hell always looking over your shoulder & being suspicious of everyone & everything, they needed nerves of steal to live under such a strain
Its ALL politics. Equating to power, meaning money. "The Americans wanted involvement regarding "the Jews". They are people just like those hypocrites pulling strings with money to get more of same.
Its a well acted and thoroughly enjoyable thriller, but it's patently obvious that Collier is an innocent civilian out of his depth. So their hostile questioning and evasiveness, "friends of Mr Shapiro", seems counter-productive from the outset. It develops and becomes more convincing as the plot widens out.
Typical pompous insecure official, aggressive, over bearing, assuming the worst. It would have been better if he had just said he was from the police and needed to know about the package.
Hadn't heard of any of cast .After listening to first 10 minutes it became apparent why. May have been Director's fault of course or the cliche ridden script which must have been cobbled together by someone who'd read every spy thriller in last 10 years - but didn't have any actual experience of the milieu. Cringeworthy attempts at sophisticated dialogue didn't help. The first 10 minutes are the worst - get through them and it's bearable.
Really enjoyed this. Makes a change from murders and haunted stories. I loved the intrigue.
I love spy stories be it TV, film, radio, book. This was excellent, many thanks for sharing it with us.

Excellent actors convincingly brought the play to life. Capturing the dark mood of the Cold War period.
Very clever piece from a talented writer. Thanks for the upload!

I really enjoyed this program but the ending was quite abrupt. Did we get the whole recording? Thanks for your radio shows.
Patricia that is what I wondered. Just finished and wanted to know about that very bitter agent!! Can any body help?
Really enjoyed it. But I don't think that spying has stopped at all . Just more sophisticated!!

Not a world-class spy thriller, but enjoyable to listen to.
Good show! Spoiler comment..well kinda. At any moment I expected Mr. Collier to break down and start confessing with a German accent.
A Cold War opus replete with "moles" and "control" echoes of Le Carre but not in his league. How the participants loved to talk - mediocore

excellent cold war drama👍
A bit sub-John-le-Carré but not bad. :-)
Thank you for uploading.
Transmission BBC 24.11.75 with some nods to Le Carré’s Alec Leamas (TSWCIFTC 1963) and the ‘mole’ (TTSS 1974)
@@elizabethman7313 'TTSS' ?
@@Laurencemardon Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. (I admit I had to look it up)
