  • Car thieves can be clever and technologically savvy. One of their favorites is to capture the radio signal from a key fob and relay that to a car to unlock it and steal it. Forvia is using Ultra Wide Band to prevent that from ever happening, but it also turns out that you can use UWB to make cars safer and more convenient. Timo Krokowski, vice president of program management at Forvia/Hella, explains what they're doing with UWB.

I think this is cool. Though mine was stolen at gun point. So not much use to me how smart the car is. The bad guys still have guns, and will take your car right in daylight times. Fortunately my car was recovered, and the thieves caught. So this is a nice step, but put the criminals in jail where they belong.

Maybe having the system have a feature to where if you exit the vehicle and it drives away with you outside it shuts off after a certain distance/time so the thieves don't get very far and yet far enough away to give you time and distance to get to safety. This would require keeping the phone on your person and not having the thief take the phone with the car but it is an option easy to implement

Any good Car Stereo shop can install a vehicle security system that does indeed shut off the engine after you exit the vehicle with the wireless fob in your pocket. They can even set a timer so you can get well away from them - for example, 2 or 3 minutes.

You can also exercise your Second Amendment right clearly spelled out in the US Constitution and carry a pistol.

Potential sponsors: Let John and his son explain this in the future. I think they can do a better job.

    Doesn't Tesla already have this?

No. Tesla's are currently, as are all passive entry vehicles, vulnerable to relay attacks.

Too many false positives - AI Camera tech has more potential in my opinion -- this is additional devices.. and you need cameras anyway - Tesla has this right
