- it's summertime in the city! let's go check out chicago's only inland beach located in historic humboldt park. i'll chat about the park, neighborhood history, and community on a gorgeous ride. we also come across a few surprises including the humboldt formal garden and an art installation with a interesting tie to hollywood and broadway start lin-manuel miranda! i swear i learn something new about this city every time i produce one of these scootisodes. let's get scooting!

Hi Anne you didn’t say it but put it up on the screen so hope you don’t mind I said it for you even attempted your lovely accent 🤣 ‘Let’s get scooting’ ❤ Omg the roads are horrifyingly scary when sped up 😂 lovely blue skies and green lush trees and spaces! Beautiful buildings but get us to the beach lol! Gosh watch your head on that low lying bridge 😂 wow bet the puertorican (not spelt that right and predictive text is refusing to help me 😅) festival is cool think you may have shown us the fireworks/light show from that?? No problem with man made it really helps local wildlife etc! Wow it’s awesome they have a museum to keep their history! Great distraction there Anne! The art murial was cool, love the bird noises! do you have any idea how mad i was at myself when i played it back and realized i forgot to say it? i was like, what will jilly and nick think?!! so i put it up on the screen. 😆 i am just laughing thinking of you doing my accent. i suppose it was a good i went under the road to the other side, otherwise i wouldn't have shown all 3 buildings. thank you both so much! 🛴❤️
Another great Scoot Anne. I can't believe it is in the 80s there. Over here we are still in the 60s. It's lovely that there is an outdoor swimming area too. I remember the 606. The murals are beautiful but those bird scaring noises are loud. Thanks for sharing and catch you next Wednesday.
thank you chris! we've actually made it well into the 90s. it's been hot! i was also surprised by the volume of the noises to keep the birds out, makes me wonder if i should see if it's part of the installation, like maybe they're the birds of peurto rico? maybe i should investigate 🕵️ lol! have a wonderful weekend! 🛴❤️

We enjoyed the "Scoot Lady!" Beautiful neighborhood and we enjoyed seeing the architecture and historical buildings. Lovely park and beach area even from the other side!🤣🤣Why was it closed for so long? If it's tested every day I may already know the answer. "Forgetful" Scoot Lady gets distracted? I think not. Just stopping to smell the flowers! Gorgeous murals and would love to visit the unique museum. Thanks so much for bringing us along.
thank you dave and kathy! the city has struggled with finding life guards to staff all of the beaches, so the lakefront was prioritized over humboldt and they left it closed. this year they had a program to get people employed earlier and it's been pretty successful. best to you both! 🛴❤️

I thought you said humble so was going to ask if you'd ever eaten humble pie, it's an English saying. A lovely day for a scoot. Looks a bit safer for scooting in the park with a lovely lake or big pond. Nice oasis of a man made beach in the city and looks well used...not a hermit friendly beach 😂Some cool architecture and murals. Nice ride out 👍

@@scootladychicago It is kind of interesting to see 'Humboldt' having a park named after him in Chicago. There is a University and Forum) amongst other things) named after him here in Berlin.
I guess it makes sense as America had a huge influx of German immigrants before WW1.
