Yūta Togashi is a boy who, during junior high school, suffered from "chūnibyō", believing that he possessed supernatural powers and calling himself the "Dark Flame Master", therefore alienating himself from his classmates. Finding his past embarrassing, Yūta attempts to start off high school where he does not know anyone, free from his old delusions. This proves to be difficult, however, as a delusional girl in his class, Rikka Takanashi, learns of Yūta's past and becomes interested in him.
As the plot progresses, Rikka becomes more attached to Yūta, who, despite finding her delusions irritating and embarrassing, accepts her. He helps Rikka with a number of things, including founding and maintaining her club and tutoring her. The club in question, the "Far-East Magical Napping Society - Summer Thereof", also includes current chūnibyō Sanae Dekomori; former chūnibyō Shinka Nibutani; and the constantly sleeping Kumin Tsuyuri. When Yūta joins Rikka on her summer vacation, Yūta learns that two years prior, Rikka's father, to whom she was very close, died unexpectedly due to a terminal illness, causing her to fall into her delusions. After Yūta agrees to help Rikka search for the "Ethereal Horizon" (不可視境界線, Fukashi Kyōkaisen), which she believes will lead her to her father, she becomes romantically interested in Yūta and vice versa.

it sucks man. the situation they’re in is awful.
making a kid who barely has his own identity sorted out have to help this girl whose struggling with problems that neither of them can even begin to comprehend. it’s so god damn upsetting man. but this show is really so good, this episode tore me to shreds.
That's a pretty good thing to learn. The need to reach a consensus. You can't escape into delusions, yes, but also being silly or playful from time to time is also very much needed. This anime is great

The only solution that i can think of (and definitely not the ideal way, probably), is to just taught her to moderate her chuunibyou side.
I mean, im a grown up and still do irl roleplay by myself because i do it for fun, but in the real world i have like a whole other personality lmao. Of course, it takes time and support for someone like Rikka and she also need the push for it because im worried if no one give a push, it'll take too long for her to eventually accept/realize the reality (which can be good or bad, idk lol).

But yeah, im honestly a bit conflicted and considering they are in Japan and from what i've heard, not being normal in Japan can be pretty challenging lol, so what happened this episode can be a good thing(?)... idfk man lmao
2120 DAMN. D Nasty has, to me, rarely nailed commentary as hard as this. And that's saying a lot, cause these mofos have grown very passionate and clever over these years of weebing out.

Rewatching again made me realize how much I HATED Yuta with a passion. Its one thing to think he does whats best for Rikka but he didnt have to break Dekomori too
It was pretty shitty sure. But honestly everyone is throwing different responsibilities on him and telling him what to do.
All Yuuta did was throw the same thing back and she instantly folded.
The thing is, he’s in it too. He’s not a bystander, he feels no less than anyone in this one thing. I’d say it’s understandable that he did that.
@@redsalmon9966 If I understand what youre saying then yeah its true he is in it BUT he is smart enough to know how to be normal and is not as vulnerable to breakdowns as others. He knows and accepts reality already
@@vincentflannigan2727 nah Dekomori was pushing it, Yuta is smart but knowing how to be normal is a completely diferent matter specialy since he just snaped out of his chuuni fase and was figuring it out himself, he was strugling like everybody else but suppress it in front of Rikka all the way trough this episode, after she left, having Dekomori there blaming him of course his pent up feelings are gonna end exploding ending up hurting both of them in the process and regretting that brief moment of weakness.
Tbf, Dekomori was really out of line here. Everyone kept pushing him and trying to make him see things their way while he didn't even fully worked out himself. So finally he snapped and even though he said it in a rude way he truly wasn't wrong. It's one thing to fantasize or just blow off steam, it's another thing entirely to fall into delusions and escape from reality and problems. Rough words, but sometimes only that work. Problem is, those two, Yuta and Rikko, are going too far into another direction and quash any sparks of silliness or joy they might have and that isn't healthy as well. Plus, Rikko was starting to get too dependent on him and he was trying, as much as he possibly could, to stop himself from saying things that he wanted her to do (he knew how it feels) and only responded by bringing other peoples, general statement or by letting her know he will be there for her.
