I love how food is used on this show. Niles does the cooking. I don't think it's part of Fran's job description to make food. But it keeps the kids in one space long enough to talk, and the gesture itself doesn't hurt either. Engaging over food feels very "family", and I think on the Nanny in particular, it's used in a very deliberate way.
