Tony thanks for answering my question! I purchased 3 Rolexes and 3 Tudors from my AD over the last 12 months. This AD is so good to me. And you just inspired me to get on the list for a Daytona. I asked my sales rep and she said “Mike, you know you could wait years for this?”. I said yes Michelle, but you told me that about the last 3 watches you got for me which all came in 1 year. She chuckled. Long story short I blatantly asked if purchase history played a role in this and she said no, but their wait list is considerable. I absolutely trust her 10000 percent. So I’ll keep you posted if the day comes and I too get the Daytona!
Tony thanks for another great video...I was seriously considering the Defy as well - the exact same model - it's killer....but, I am on the wait list for an explorer or air king (whichever comes first). Maybe next year.... As for wearing two watches, this was sort of a popular thing to do when I was deployed. 2 gshocks...one with local time and one with Afghanistan time (it's on 1/2 hour incremental differences). Stay cool! You're like a cool internet Uncle for us watch fans.
Hey T, hope life is treating you well. I’m looking for your opinion on my current AD situ. I have decent spend history with my AD and have been a regular face at the store, over the last few years. I do get offered watches regularly (believe it or not, I have actually had 3 patek’s and 5 Rolex watches offered to me since May). Unfortunately, they were not watches that I wanted in my collection and I hadn’t previously registered interest in them. The watches were offered to me on 2 separate occasions, whilst I was in the store, shopping for jewellery for my wife. Do you think that my relationship with the AD could be negatively impacted, due to the fact that I passed on the offered watches? They were quite desirable models, just not what I’m looking for at the moment. I did go on to spend 5 figures on jewellery both times, so I’d like to think that I didn’t waste the AD’s time. The reason that I’m slightly paranoid, is that when I have expressed interest in models in the past, the AD has always been very positive and I haven’t had to wait more than 6 months to receive a watch from them, Rolex included. 2 days ago, I went back and registered my interest in a 36mm turquoise OP. My usual sales rep seemed noticeably more negative. She registered my interest, but said it would likely take some time and could be difficult. This is very different than the response I’ve had from her in the past. I have always had a good relationship with the rep, and they have allocated steel sports and full gold pieces for me previously. The market seems to be softening here, and they have come through on more “desirable” pieces in the past. Are they pissed, or is this watch really that hard to resource at the moment? Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Hey Tony long time listener, first time caller. Love your content. Question: What is the starting point for you when you're in the market for the next watch? Do you go by brand, cost, aesthetic, movement? Are there certain aesthetic elements or complications you absolutely love or hate? For instance I'm not a huge fan of small seconds (though I couldn't really tell you why) and I usually stick to stainless steel cases as I'd somehow manage to beat up a precious metal case. Take care dude, late congrats on the Daytona, awesome piece.
I loved that Simpson's episode, and I love the Simpson's! Their Halloween specials are the best. I actually saw a guy at the airport the other day wearing his Apple wrist tech on one wrist, and what looked to be a Daytona (panda) on the other wrist. To each his own, but it's not a look I'd wear!
Question: have you ever thought of doing a guitar channel where you show us some of your guitars, history playing, and other cool stuff? I am also into guitars and watch a lot of UA-camrs like Tim Pierce. I think you would do phenomenal with that content
Q: Is there a good reason why the VC Overseas doesn’t have hacking seconds? Every other watch I own has hacking seconds, but I see there are several VC and PP that don’t.
Thanks for the video Tony. That gold Turdor watch. Has gone down in price in a big way recently. Anyway I would not buy a gold Tudor. Probably a gold Rolex would be the better option. You buy that gold Tudor you buy it if you love it. But otherwise you lose a ton of money on it,and difficult to move on.
Longines make some great watches but I feel they are being held back by the Swatch Group because of Omega. They are also now that brand that are bigged up more than they deserve (but would deserve if they did their own thing). The $15k/$35k thing is more about gold than the brand IMO.
It's the curse of the conglomerates. They would be well capitalized and unlikely to go bust. However, the rules of cash flow priorities would dictate the higher margin, best turnover, and highest ROI products to get the most attention. Hence, it would always be Omega. Ask breguet how it feels to be contracting double digits yearly when the market was growing back in 2021-2023 😂
Hey Tony! Thanks for another great video! Any experience with and/or your opinion on Glycine Combat Sub? Glycine has long history but I heard that since Invicta bought them, some of their models might be assembled in China.
Regarding talking to people about watches. Bumped into an old school friend at a wedding and clocked he was wearing a Sub. I was wearing a Santos so moved swiftly onto watch talk. After a minute or so I could tell he was only vaguely interested in the topic but I’d had a few drinks and must have dragged the conversation on; I turned around for 2 seconds and he’d disappeared. Then the next day I saw his wife at breakfast who said “you’re the watch guy!” 😂🤦♂️
😂😂😂. I did that at a NYE party. Dude wearing a Sub, I was wearing my GMT. He had a Rolex but didn’t give a fk about watches. He had no interest in talking about them whatsoever. Had I not had as many beers I wouldn’t have even bothered talking to him. 😂😂
Guys, c’mon lol. Do a better job and watch the whole video. He’s taking the time to answer all your questions and give you advice and you can’t return the favor and watch for a response. (Btw thanks for answering my question on your favorite watch brand Tony. Since you said you’re a huge fan of Vacheron what are your thoughts on the 56 using the Richemont movement. I think it looks sick but would love your opinion next week!)
Hey Tony another great show…. Agree with you 100%, I love Longines . I just bought one of the heritage models and I love the watch. I’ve got about six bands for it already but 15 K for one, no….. Rolex ok but not a Longines … And I wouldn’t buy an iced watch no matter what brand… Not a fan of diamonds on a watch…! You’re the man buddy… You see it, you like it and you buy it…!!! Love that…❤️💯👍 Straight no BS watch talk…! Greg
Hey man! Congrats on your new Longines! Wear it in good health. I agree with you on the “diamonds” on watches. I think some look cool, but for the most part. No thank you. 😊🤙🤙
To the 29 y/o who wants to buy an iced out Breitling, sure, “buy what you like” like Tony said, especially if you can easily afford it. Let me just say, I believe there’s a very big chance you’ll regret the purchase down the road.
I hear that at one time, Rolex and Longines were on the same level. Do you ever see Rolex dropping in popularity or see another brand over taking them. If so who?
I share your sentiments with alternatives in straps. Every watch I have in the box is on an alternate strap. The OEMs are always too long for me. Good perspective brother.
Tony you the man! Thanks for answering soo many of my questions. What were you into in the beginning of collecting watches that you're not into anymore?
The only time you should wear two watches at once is at a watch show! Top Tip: Wear your own watch on the opposite wrist so that you can try other watches on without taking yours off 😎 Not to be confused with a watch shop where taking your watch off to place in front of the sales person may be an advantage lol.
Tony I tried on two different occasions submitting that same question. I know you wouldn’t ignore me. Thanks for mentioning in tonight’s video. The question was rather long and detailed with model #. UA-cam were being difficult I guess. It was in regard of JLC Duoface Tribute Chronograph of 2023. Thinking in buying.🤔
@mikelewis. Just my $.02, but I agree with ArchieLuxury when it comes to JLC - it’s a coffin brand. That is, you keep it to the grave…b/c nobody else wants it. If you absolutely, no BS, 100% love Love LOVE that watch, then get it. But as someone who’s about to get punched in the throat for the tradein value of his JLC MC Chrono Calendar, I can tell you…I wish I never bought the goddamn thing.
@@daniell2217 I understand what you’re saying regarding JLC or even Breguet. Two great brands and incredible manufacturing of high horology. The Reverso is Iconic watch. The JLC Duoface Tribute Chronograph 2023 is an impressive piece, planning to keep forever. Rolex which is a massively hyped brand producing well over 1 million watches a year is not on same level of JLC or Breguet when comes to high horology. Rolex make excellent watches but nobody has incredible marketing pushing their brand like Rolex.
Hey Tony- I am having my first baby this weekend/Week. If you were to give your first boy a watch when he’s 21, which should it be? Rolex datejust vintage, Tudor ranger, omega railmaster, or a grand seiko elegance GMT. Keep rocking you absolute stud.
Congrats dude! I went through a similar process not too long ago. Regarding vintage - a 30 year old watch today will be ~50 years old on his 21st. Whereas a modern watch today (even a birth year watch) will likely be much more wearable as a daily for him in 20 years time (depending on what you want, of course!) just a thought. Other options to consider: 1/ buy something for you, now, wear it for 20 years, then gift it - for a closer connection to the piece itself as it was yours. This is the ultimate excuse to buy yourself a new watch 😂 2/ buy a birth year watch and lock it away and gift it to him as a NOS watch 3/ stick the money in savings now and then he can decide :)
@@Casa1000 all great suggestions!! Yea your right on the 50 year old watch, I’m going to keep it up to date with service but who knows. I thought about the new old stock too good call!!
