- The Thompson Fire started at 10:51 in the morning on July 2, 2024. It burned 3,789 acres, impacting the communities of Kelly Ridge and Oregon City, the Oroville Dam, and threatening the city of Oroville itself before it was contained. Now that all evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted, CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Chief Garrett Sjolund and Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea wanted to take a few minutes to express their gratitude to the residents of Butte County for their support and cooperation while we worked to put this fire out and get everyone back home as quickly as possible.
Thank you, CalFire, BCPD, Sheriff's Dept. and all those who volunteered for exceptional work!
Great job to everyone involved❤
From the bottom of my heart, thank you BC Calfire and all FF who came into help, pilots, dozers, dispatch, support personnel!
You pulled off a miracle. I think Divine Intervention played a hand too.
Thank you BCSO who helped people get out, thank you CHP and County Works.
This is THE FIRE we have dreaded.
Heads on a swivel folks, it's going to be a long fire season.
Stay prepared, have a plan and go.
Thank yall for all the hard work 🙏🏽
All the involved agencies absolutely kicked ass. No way to say thank you enough; MOST impressive!
Vote to support public safety and fire this fall with that one cent tax. It is SO well worth it!!
