my friend had a "counselor" through better help in 2018. this "counselor" never saw an issue with my friend showing up to her sessions shit faced drunk, and in fact ENCOURAGED her to do it "if it helped her feel better". anyone and everyone needs to run from betterhelp as if their life depends on it because it very much does.

My step dad uses betterhelp. He’s very narcissistic, has an alcohol problem, and many other issues that are not addressed. His “therapist” just encourages him to continue to blame other people and just takes what he says at face value. There’s no therapy going on, he’s just validating his feelings without telling him why they exist

I always feel the need to remind people that when an ACTUAL therapist (Mickey Atkins) made a video discussing how BetterHelp is unethical and violates a number of ethics they have to abide by, BetterHelp literally harassed her and sent her a cease and desist to force her to take her video down just when it was gaining traction. A good company would never feel the need to censor their own critics.

Oooo boy! I have used better help! In my experience my therapist didn’t really say anything when I told them about my life and why I have some of the problems I do they offered no help besides “just stop thinking about it “ and I specifically requested a LGBTQ+ expert and she didn’t know about anything I was talking about, and when I started it took 2 months for them to like actually match me with a therapist. The therapist felt like they didn’t care and wanted to get the session over as fast as possible. They don’t care. It also took MONTHS to schedule a session I was essentially spending 280 a month for a session every 2 months. I do not recommend

fun fact !!! a few years back, betterhelp posted an ask reddit question that was smth along the lines of "what's the worst mental health advice you've ever received" and my friend answered it saying smth like "just suck it up and be happy, come on" bc. that's the worst. they were answering the question. anyway, betterhelp PM's them asking if they can use their answer in one of their ads. my friend says yes but specifically asks for their username to be left out. BETTERHELP THEN POSTS AN AD. NOT ONLY TAKING THEIR ANSWER OUT OF CONTEXT AND MAKING IT SOUND LIKE THEY JUST SAID IT RANDOMLY, BUT ALSO *PUT THEIR USERNAME IN* . effectively making my friend look like a terrible person to the point when mindlessly scrolling i saw MULTIPLE "fuck you" posts towards my friend because people thought my friend had genuinely said shit like "just be happy". horrid company all around !!!

The thing with creators who promote BetterHelp is that they actively filter comments that try to inform them of how bad it is. I tried to inform Anthony and other creators about how bad it is, but it was deleted about an hour after they were put up, and this was before UA-cam started deleting random comments. He refuses to see that it's wrong, and that is what I think is wrong

I remember a lot of people, including me, were telling one creator that pride counseling (owned by betterhelp) is a shady sponsor to take and she just wouldn't accept that it sucked for a TON of people and that there are loads of evidence of shady practices. She just said "oh well my experience with it has been nothing but lovely"
I tried them out for a while, and they 1) charged more than it was worth, 2) did not help- the therapist didn't ever dig deep on any issues, 3) sold my information online.
Honestly I know this is off topic but Louis has helped my self worth so much. I get a lot of hateful comments irl and online (on all my videos lol) and it can be very hurtful getting hundred or thousands of hateful comments. I left public school a couple of weeks ago and it was the best decision I ever made, I am actually happy! As a person who has gotton very bad therapy in the past (Literally dismissed all of my symptoms because I didn't have the stereotypical symptoms) I can confirm that bad therapy makes things even worse than not going to therapy at all. Online therapy is great and a lot of them are affordable, if not, then there are support groups out there for everyone
I really hope you can find a better therapist that will listen to you and give you the help you need. I've also been struggling with "professionals" who don't listen to me. I was once referred to a counselor who kept asking me if my partner was treating me right even when I had repeatedly told her yes, he was the best thing I had in my life and my problems had literally NOTHING to do with him. I swear, some people should not be in their profession.

Honestly tho. I had a counselor when I was in high school to help me through my depression, and instead of listening to me, she instead listened to my parents and kept pushing this book on Buddhism that my father wanted me to read. I was suicidal and an atheist, reading about Buddhism wouldn't have made me stop hurting myself. I ended up having to just go through my situation alone. I came out ok, but it has not helped my trust issues at all.

As a trans male, and someone who’s end goal is to become a child therapist or social worker, this entire thing is baffling to me. Where I live, you have to have a full bachelors degree or two, in counselling, social work, psychology, mental health, or otherwise, before you’ll even be considered as a therapist. Specifically for child/teen therapists/social workers, you have to take what’s known as an Early Learning and Child Care certificate as well, to be able to work with children. How a well-known website, which SHOWS UP AS A SPONSORED AD ON GOOGLE WHEN I SEARCHED UP THE REQUIREMENTS, can be this horrible and let in people who have none of those requirements, I can’t even fathom. I hope everyone who suffered due to betterhelp has found, well, better help than that.
As someone who’s been in therapy basically their entire life, once I heard about how unprofessional the “therapists” there were, the name made me curl my lip in disgust. But now, now that I’ve heard all of this, it’s stomach turning levels of disgust. I can’t imagine what it would be like to find out that your therapist, someone you’re supposed to trust with all your sensitive issues and emotions, isn’t respecting doctor patient confidentiality, and on top of that is selling that information. Honestly when I first heard about them I was questioning how an app could have professionals or people who were genuinely qualified to be a therapist.
i used betterhelp for a couple years and it was ok. My therapist was a licensed clinical social worker who unfortunately would miss/forget appointments. also, it got to where it was too expensive for me to keep up with and the experience was getting worse and worse. Also. I loved the new video style, it was super nice to get something quick and spastic that had the wild energy that you have!!!
BetterHelp was a pretty bad experience when I tried it. I asked for lgbt+ friendly and no religious affiliation and was matched with someone who minimized my struggles as a gay in the south and then tried to tell me I wouldn’t be sad about my parent dying if I just thought they were in a better place.

Thank you for making this video, seeing other people go trough with what I did (I have been trough conversion therapy as well as had a very bad excperince with a SA centre) has given me more confidence in finally being okay to make a official report. I know the video isn't "that series" and that it's just a commentary channel but I think that's mainly what helped. Being removed from the seriousness of the situation with a comedic lense makes me see how bad it is but also makes me feel a little better. Please keep up with the great content.
I am halfway through my master’s program to be a licensed therapist, and I so appreciate you talking about this. Not only are so many of their therapists not trained or just really bad at their jobs, their practices as a whole are SO unethical. Sure it would be nice to see clients in other countries via Telehealth but right now, that’s entirely against the ACA code of ethics (and also against the law? I think?) Ugh. So, so many issues.
I find it funny cause my family used to use better help. My mom found a wonderful women who has helped her alot. On the other hand I went through 2 different therapist and both were hell. The first one was a "gender specialist" and told me that gender dysphoria was t a real thing and the second told me that I couldn't be suicidal cause I was 12-13.
I don’t think people who’ve advertised for better help are bad people. I do however think that when it has been brought to their attention how bad better help is (which for someone like Anthony Padilla, I highly doubt he has not heard or seen the controversy) and they don’t try to get out of the contracts and stuff, I do think that deserves a bit of a side eye. Big channels don’t need the money that badly. And the only reason I can see them continuing to support a company like this is either they actually agree with the company despite how bad it is (which is a problem), or there is a contract they can’t get out of. There isn’t really another option when it comes to big UA-camrs platforming betterhelp. They don’t deserve to be harrassed or hated on for it, but they do need to be held accountable, and preferably, actually address it.

I’ve been seeing a therapist for about a year and a half now. Because of this, I’ve become the “therapist” in one of my friend groups. I’m probably as reliable as a Better Help therapist.
I got very lucky in my brief time on better help, I got someone who was not only super helpful but also so kind, she was the best therapist I've ever had. But then I wasn't able to afford better help anymore so couldn't continue, she tried to help me get enough discounts to make it affordable for me, and in our brief time she really did help with my grief, my bi polar, etc.

BetterHelp has been notoriously awful since PewDiePie dropped his video about it, YEARS AGO! I find it hard to believe that these UA-camrs simply forgot about the scandal that caused several UA-camrs to make apologies about advertising BetterHelp.
Speaking from personal experience, using Better Help is a bad idea. My “therapist” with “over 20 years” of experience and many licenses, was late for all 2 sessions we had, had street noises in the background on the first call and was eating in his room on the second video call. I’ve never felt worse in my life, and here was this person interrupting me multiple times to ask questions and note how what I’m sharing with him was irrelevant to the present and couldn’t seriously affect me. You don’t need to be a therapist to understand that devaluing smbd’s feelings is the worst move when they’re already hitting the rock bottom. Needless to say, I quit the “therapy” there asap and ever since, have struggled to take therapy seriously and give it a fair shot.

I was in a terrible slump a year ago to where I was desperate. I texted a hotline and then immediately after my conversation, I got online to try and find affordable therapy and Better Help popped up. It was still too expensive. I guess I was sound enough of mind to save myself the trouble. Just glad I didn’t go through with it. I'm doing fine now. Not in therapy yet, but I've been practicing what works for me from when I used to get therapy.

I used to use BetterHelp. I specifically requested a non religious therapist but I was matched with Christian counselors over and over again. When I did find a therapist that wasn’t religious she ended up being kind of dismissive and ultimately just not very helpful. Also it’s expensive and applying for financial aid every month is hard with adhd.

The therapist felt like they didn’t care and wanted to get the session over as fast as possible. They don’t care. It also took MONTHS to schedule a session I was essentially spending 280 a month for a session every 2 months. I do not recommend

I signed up and found a "trauma focused" therapist, her response was to tell me to try taking a walk before bed. It did not help.
fun fact !!! a few years back, betterhelp posted an ask reddit question that was smth along the lines of "what's the worst mental health advice you've ever received" and my friend answered it saying smth like "just suck it up and be happy, come on" bc. that's the worst. they were answering the question. anyway, betterhelp PM's them asking if they can use their answer in one of their ads. my friend says yes but specifically asks for their username to be left out. BETTERHELP THEN POSTS AN AD. NOT ONLY TAKING THEIR ANSWER OUT OF CONTEXT AND MAKING IT SOUND LIKE THEY JUST SAID IT RANDOMLY, BUT ALSO *PUT THEIR USERNAME IN* . effectively making my friend look like a terrible person to the point when mindlessly scrolling i saw MULTIPLE "fuck you" posts towards my friend because people thought my friend had genuinely said shit like "just be happy". horrid company all around !!!

The thing with creators who promote BetterHelp is that they actively filter comments that try to inform them of how bad it is. I tried to inform Anthony and other creators about how bad it is, but it was deleted about an hour after they were put up, and this was before UA-cam started deleting random comments. He refuses to see that it's wrong, and that is what I think is wrong

I remember a lot of people, including me, were telling one creator that pride counseling (owned by betterhelp) is a shady sponsor to take and she just wouldn't accept that it sucked for a TON of people and that there are loads of evidence of shady practices. She just said "oh well my experience with it has been nothing but lovely"

Honestly I know this is off topic but Louis has helped my self worth so much. I get a lot of hateful comments irl and online (on all my videos lol) and it can be very hurtful getting hundred or thousands of hateful comments. I left public school a couple of weeks ago and it was the best decision I ever made, I am actually happy! But when I do get hate I remember this channel, he supports lgbt and it just makes me happy :3

As a person who has gotton very bad therapy in the past (Literally dismissed all of my symptoms because I didn't have the stereotypical symptoms) I can confirm that bad therapy makes things even worse than not going to therapy at all.
Online therapy is great and a lot of them are affordable, if not, then there are support groups out there for everyone
I really hope you can find a better therapist that will listen to you and give you the help you need. I've also been struggling with "professionals" who don't listen to me. I was once referred to a counselor who kept asking me if my partner was treating me right even when I had repeatedly told her yes, he was the best thing I had in my life and my problems had literally NOTHING to do with him. I swear, some people should not be in their profession.

Honestly tho. I had a counselor when I was in high school to help me through my depression, and instead of listening to me, she instead listened to my parents and kept pushing this book on Buddhism that my father wanted me to read. I was suicidal and an atheist, reading about Buddhism wouldn't have made me stop hurting myself. I ended up having to just go through my situation alone. I came out ok, but it has not helped my trust issues at all.

As a trans male, and someone who’s end goal is to become a child therapist or social worker, this entire thing is baffling to me. Where I live, you have to have a full bachelors degree or two, in counselling, social work, psychology, mental health, or otherwise, before you’ll even be considered as a therapist. Specifically for child/teen therapists/social workers, you have to take what’s known as an Early Learning and Child Care certificate as well, to be able to work with children. How a well-known website, which SHOWS UP AS A SPONSORED AD ON GOOGLE WHEN I SEARCHED UP THE REQUIREMENTS, can be this horrible and let in people who have none of those requirements, I can’t even fathom. I hope everyone who suffered due to betterhelp has found, well, better help than that.
As someone who’s been in therapy basically their entire life, once I heard about how unprofessional the “therapists” there were, the name made me curl my lip in disgust. But now, now that I’ve heard all of this, it’s stomach turning levels of disgust. I can’t imagine what it would be like to find out that your therapist, someone you’re supposed to trust with all your sensitive issues and emotions, isn’t respecting doctor patient confidentiality, and on top of that is selling that information. Honestly when I first heard about them I was questioning how an app could have professionals or people who were genuinely qualified to be a therapist.
i used betterhelp for a couple years and it was ok. My therapist was a licensed clinical social worker who unfortunately would miss/forget appointments. also, it got to where it was too expensive for me to keep up with and the experience was getting worse and worse. Also. I loved the new video style, it was super nice to get something quick and spastic that had the wild energy that you have!!!

I asked for lgbt+ friendly and no religious affiliation and was matched with someone who minimized my struggles as a gay in the south and then tried to tell me I wouldn’t be sad about my parent dying if I just thought they were in a better place.

Thank you for making this video, seeing other people go trough with what I did (I have been trough conversion therapy as well as had a very bad excperince with a SA centre) has given me more confidence in finally being okay to make a official report. I know the video isn't "that series" and that it's just a commentary channel but I think that's mainly what helped. Being removed from the seriousness of the situation with a comedic lense makes me see how bad it is but also makes me feel a little better. Please keep up with the great content.

I am halfway through my master’s program to be a licensed therapist, and I so appreciate you talking about this. Not only are so many of their therapists not trained or just really bad at their jobs, their practices as a whole are SO unethical. Sure it would be nice to see clients in other countries via Telehealth but right now, that’s entirely against the ACA code of ethics (and also against the law? I think?) Ugh. So, so many issues.
I find it funny cause my family used to use better help. My mom found a wonderful women who has helped her alot. On the other hand I went through 2 different therapist and both were hell. The first one was a "gender specialist" and told me that gender dysphoria was t a real thing and the second told me that I couldn't be suicidal cause I was 12-13.

I don’t think people who’ve advertised for better help are bad people. I do however think that when it has been brought to their attention how bad better help is (which for someone like Anthony Padilla, I highly doubt he has not heard or seen the controversy) and they don’t try to get out of the contracts and stuff, I do think that deserves a bit of a side eye. Big channels don’t need the money that badly. And the only reason I can see them continuing to support a company like this is either they actually agree with the company despite how bad it is (which is a problem), or there is a contract they can’t get out of. There isn’t really another option when it comes to big UA-camrs platforming betterhelp. They don’t deserve to be harrassed or hated on for it, but they do need to be held accountable, and preferably, actually address it.

I got very lucky in my brief time on better help, I got someone who was not only super helpful but also so kind, she was the best therapist I've ever had. But then I wasn't able to afford better help anymore so couldn't continue, she tried to help me get enough discounts to make it affordable for me, and in our brief time she really did help with my grief, my bi polar, etc.

BetterHelp has been notoriously awful since PewDiePie dropped his video about it, YEARS AGO! I find it hard to believe that these UA-camrs simply forgot about the scandal that caused several UA-camrs to make apologies about advertising BetterHelp.
Speaking from personal experience, using Better Help is a bad idea. My “therapist” with “over 20 years” of experience and many licenses, was late for all 2 sessions we had, had street noises in the background on the first call and was eating in his room on the second video call. I’ve never felt worse in my life, and here was this person interrupting me multiple times to ask questions and note how what I’m sharing with him was irrelevant to the present and couldn’t seriously affect me. You don’t need to be a therapist to understand that devaluing smbd’s feelings is the worst move when they’re already hitting the rock bottom. Needless to say, I quit the “therapy” there asap and ever since, have struggled to take therapy seriously and give it a fair shot.

I was in a terrible slump a year ago to where I was desperate. I texted a hotline and then immediately after my conversation, I got online to try and find affordable therapy and Better Help popped up.
It was still too expensive. I guess I was sound enough of mind to save myself the trouble. Just glad I didn’t go through with it.
I'm doing fine now. Not in therapy yet, but I've been practicing what works for me from when I used to get therapy.

I used to use BetterHelp. I specifically requested a non religious therapist but I was matched with Christian counselors over and over again. When I did find a therapist that wasn’t religious she ended up being kind of dismissive and ultimately just not very helpful. Also it’s expensive and applying for financial aid every month is hard with adhd.
