Yep completely lost my trust and I had just subscribed! It took me so long because I was only interested in Shane and Ryan and I didn’t see a lot of their content on there til their recent mystery files season. It was so disappointing after that season ended to get that video on my homepage. I unsubbed immediately and won’t be resubbing again for a while if ever. That video completely ruined any trust I had of their channel. Who knows if they’re gonna walk back their apology in a few months and decide to only post on WatcherTV?

I am glad a lot of people called them out. I used to love watcher and Shane and Ryan so much. I watched almost everything they did. Shane, I used to like especially, because of his views and his humor. When they posted that video i, like many others, was so shocked and hurt. Shane and Ryan always felt down to earth. I never really liked Steven without a specific reason but I felt so supported in that when I saw the videos. He seems so disingenuous and it really felt like it was his idea. I am glad they listened and properly apologized but at the same time there will always be this weird feeling connected to them from now on.

Yeah I've been a fan for years too but they've definitely spoiled the feeling of it now and it's so sad
I cautiously forgave them after the apology but I still feel so sad thinking about the situation
Honestly tho. I've also been a fan for a while, and never thought they'd be the kind of people who would pull such a thing. Even with how high quality their production was, they still felt down to earth and relatable. Now that's gone, and while I probably will still watch their content, it will always have a stain from this.

honestly it feels terrible for them to do that because of just how much they already make from so many things.
like if i could have what their making for even just a few months it would be life changing for me. i could transition to male so easily with what they make, hell i could probably even donate to many charities with the rest.
but i’ll probably never see the amount they make consistently just like many others around me, i working from paycheck to paycheck as it is so i wouldn’t be able to afford their streaming service either, but supporting them in general now though just feels scummy…like just, why? because greed…i think they honestly murdered their channel in my view, i can’t watch their content without thinking of how much more money they wanted to squeeze out of their fans.

I think DropOut is a good reference here. CollegeHumor, now known as DropOut, "left" UA-cam because Sam Reich bought the company from IAC. And for the price of one large dumpling a month (i.e 4.99) you have content to all of their videos. Though the price has now increased to 5.99 a month. (Unless you subscribed at the start. Then it is still 4.99)
They did the same thing that Buzzfeed did so why does DropOut work and Watcher doesn't? I personally think it's because DropOut doesn't exclude the audience. They post to multiple UA-cam channels with pieces of episodes for viewers to enjoy or sometimes full length episodes. If you do choose to get DropOut then access is unlimited. And the price is understandable as well. DropOut is a huge company with so many people to pay. This was Sam's shot in the dark to save something he and his coworkers loved. And it worked.
Watcher doesn't need to leave UA-cam, they don't need to do any of this.
Your videos are honestly so good for drawing, and keeping up with current online affairs. Your videos are such a palatable way of staying in the loop, and nice to draw to. I've gotten so much more art done since finding your channel. Thank you for making these. :)

Glitch Productions (aka the best animation studio ever) did something similar, with the Glitch Inn. They just made a paid thing with a bunch of behind the scenes stuff, exclusive content, and a members-only discord. They made it more than Watcher did, but still I believe they did it WAY better.
