Just so we're clear, the text they highlighted in this video says that a *Roof* light is no longer necessary. In other words, the law is allowing GSP and other agencies to use unmarked/slicktop vehicles. It's not them saying that lights are to be removed entirely, just the roof lights. The roof lights only.

@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 I’m pretty sure I never agreed to allowing the cops to hide from me so they can earn more ticket revenue. There is a lot more to being a cop than writing tickets. Their more important work, like emergencies, require them to drive faster than the posted speed limit and ignore traffic control devices like traffic lights and stop signs. Making their vehicles less visible increases the risk of someone not seeing them and an accident occurring. I don’t have a problem with cops giving out traffic citations. I have a problem with cops decreasing public safety to increase department revenue. Not to mention, this is a change being proposed after I got my license so it wouldn’t be something I agreed to when I got it. If the cops decided it was now ok to fck u in the ass after they pulled u over would u have the same opinion that u agreed to it when u got your license? The problem is that the govt (police, politicians, judges, etc.) have lost sight of what their duties are to the people and are now reforming laws to meet their new priority of making money off the people. Just another step towards what our country was founded for to get away from, corrupt government control of the people. Why do you think all the amendments start with those that protect citizens from the government overstepping their bounds and to control the people?

"I never agreed to allowing the cops to hide from me so they can earn more ticket revenue."

"Not to mention, this is a change being proposed after I got my license so it wouldn’t be something I agreed to when I got it. "

    • @ATLGRINDER
      @ATLGRINDER 2 роки тому

@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 Why do they want to remove the light bar if not to make them less visible? Someone has to agree to the methods they use to catch speeders otherwise it wouldn’t be proposed in a bill looking for approval. This is the period before it’s passed that people can express their opinions on the matter. That’s what I was doing and u rebut my opinion telling me I already agreed to something that hasn’t even happened yet. Then u tell me that removing the light bar from the roof will not make the car less visible (which a child could see is wrong) and u fail to give an alternative reason as to why they would want to make the change. How bout when they turn the body cameras off so they don’t reveal how they are violating citizen’s rights, are u ok with that too? Is that something u feel u agreed to when u got your license? Or what if they proposed a bill that would allow them to strip search u to make sure u don’t have any illegal contraband every time they stop u, is that ok with u too? Is there anything at all that they could propose and u would finally say ok I think we have a right to give our opinion against this and we’re not agreeing to this? Or do u just feel like whatever they choose to do is what u agreed to even if u haven’t? The fact is police presence needs to be known unless undercover work is being conducted. Crime prevention is far more important than ticket revenue and known police presence is a good deterrent. Decreasing police visibility does not serve the citizens they are paid to protect and serve. It only serves to increase police department revenue. We already pay the govt too much for the services they provide. They need to better budget those funds rather than look for ways to take more from us.

Why on Gods green earth would you want a marked unit to have less visible marking, lighting and sirens?
It is terrifying enough to be out late, see blue lights kick on behind you and have an internal debate about when/where to pull over safely.
Now the knee the jerk reaction, depending upon who is answering will say that if you’re concerned for safety, turn your hazard lights on, and slowly make your way to a well lit public area. Yet when you happen to encounter certain officers, they don’t hesitate to threaten with charges of evading. It only takes a short search to find example after example of some random citizen experiencing this.
Now add to that the incidents where people impersonate the police. You’re adding ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ situations!
And let me inject here, because I know there are those who will read this and instantly comment “if you’re not doing anything wrong, you don’t have anything to worry about”. For people who think this way, stfu! Because no one who has any intelligence and experience with law enforcement believes that to be true!

There was a study by one company that designed an aerodynamic lightbar saying the regular shape adds wind resistance that takes away up to 20 miles per tank of gas or something like that with some results showing a reduction of 4 miles per gallon fuel economy. I'm assuming they are also looking at acceleration and top speed losses, having to drill holes in the roof when you can cover the car in lights all over without having to make any invasive holes that need to be plugged. Pros and cons to a lightbar but those thinking they are going to be invisible or unrecognizable as police cars must be blind if their distinctive two tone blue paint job, orange letters, front tag that says state patrol, and a full wrap around push bumper arent enough of a clue before you see a bunch of blue lights flashing everywhere. 😂 indeed you recognize their paint job and push bumper before you focus on the current lightbar at the roofline.

They can't criminally charge you for verifying the stop through the 911 call center. THAT'S why you turn on your hazards and slow down, to let the officer know you acknowledge his presence. Your statement is just another excuse for criminals to do what they do and victims to just play the victim card. EVERYONE has the right to keep and bear arms. EVERYONE has a God-given right to self-defense. No one should just lie down and take whatever a criminal is doing. As I stated previously, the mere presence of a light bar does not a cop car make. That shows your ignorance in understanding how those things work. Those women weren't raped because of an unmarked vehicle. They were raped because there was a criminal on the loose and they did nothing to ensure their own safety. No, I'm not "victim blaming", but you damn sure have a certain level of accountability towards your own personal safety. When seconds count, the cops are minutes away. The problem lies in the twisted mindset of people who would rather allow a criminal to hurt them, than they hurt the criminal. Self-preservation is at the very core of human existence, no matter what you religion, or lack thereof. There is never an excuse for not fighting back or dying while trying.

If you’re there to protect and serve why the need to be all sneaky and hide, also with all these fake officers out why add to the doubt and confusion

It isnt an attempt to be sneaky. Its just changing the law to allow for more models of emergency lights.

When you stop wanting to be recognized as LEA, the mission is no longer to protect and serve it becomes revenue. The presence is suppose to a deterrent for criminal behavior

90% of the people in this comment section are idiots, this is merely allowing Georgia's law enforcement to take off their roof light, interior lights are still required as are police markings unless the car is supposed to be unidentifiable as a police vehicle. this is NOT saying that police can completely ditch their lights, and is NOT making them impossible to see. If they want to be secretive they can use unmarked and undercover vehicles, no markings or clearly visible lights unless they are on.

Just one move toward a secret police force in unmarked cars. Good officers are not thwarted by having roof lights; it's lazy officers who don't like them.

Just putting this out there: European cop cars are well illuminated, and well marked with lots of reflective stripes. Yet American police feel the need to be less conspicuous to sneak up on you to write a ticket.

The flashing lights on cop cars and other emergency vehicles are a liability requirement. When a cop pulls you over; from the moment he turns the flashing lights until the moment you pull away after he releases you, he has assumed all liability for your safety on the roadside. Even then there are numerous incidents every year where passing motorists experience target fascination and ram into police cars because their tiny brains can't stop looking at the pretty lights.

The police lights being left on does not and will not deter crime but it will tell criminals a cop is in the area. It is just another dumbass idea to help criminals avoid police.
