What a great and inspiring bio. Fascinating. Proud of his humble origins. If you haven't been to Newcastle. I highly recommend it. It's beautiful, as it's friendly people. I was shocked. It has a positive buzz about it, and reminds me of another fantastic city, Liverpool. People seem to be proud of their city, and now I know why. Sting remains one of the most versatile and unique musicians ever. A creative genius. Thanx for sharing.

Yes Mr Sumner was my teacher and first coach ...I work in the premier league now so he had a massive influence on all of us 😁

I lived in Wallsend mid 80s to early 90s by which time the shipyard was dying. It’s gone now. It might sound a bit strange but l think everyone felt his presence. Interestingly Kate Pierson from the B52s worked behind the bar in a pub in Wallsend at one point. Maybe they should collaborate, perhaps with Sam Fender from nearby North Shields and even Bryan Ferry who hails from nearby too. There must be something in the water or perhaps there is a secret Frankenstein lab where they build Geordie rockstars.

Wallsend is in North Tyneside NOT Northumberland....
oops, but looks like there were changes made in the 70's and later, before that, it looks like it was all one county; but I am not from there so I really don't know.

Its actually pronounced waalsend, born and lived there for over 50 years, met sting in 1979 when i was a stage hand at Leeds polytechnic and The Police played there. Total twat and didn't want to talk about where he was from, bit of a snob.
