I stumbled upon your video through another video and I must say, this made my day lol. Freaking hilarious! 😂 Keep doing what you do and educating the world about Africa. 🌍
Hi Richard, as Local Kenyan I prefer buying all those items from their supplies _a market called Kariokor market: they buy things there and take them to Masai market plus you'll get everything at a better price
@@RichardDebs Yeees even there: for foreigners any price you're given counter with a quarter of it as many traders believe every wazungu have a lot of money to dash out and don't mind paying for any price...and remember to be bold and don't bend then thank me later 😂😂😂
It happens to us locals as well. The annoying kids who never leave you alone and vendors. Just ignore them completely if you don't want to entertain them. Even the NO is an invite for conversation lol
Interesting and funny as always. 🤝🤝 There is a more chill Masai Market inside the Galleria Mall near Bomas of Kenya. This circuit has amazing places like Nairobi Safari Walk, The Sheldrick Baby Elephant Centre and The Nairobi National Park. Sellers are laid back as they must abide to Mall regulations. It has fairly unique crafts- some made on site. Mostly caters to upmarket tourists (no offense.)
I have a lot of recorded content of my trip to the elephant sanctuary and the giraffe center. I also visited the Galleria Mall but opted to skip the Maasai Market there knowing that I was visiting the downtown market eventually. When work calms down I might put it all together for a video.
Don't leave before you visit spinner's web. It's like maasai market but with more variety and in a high end neighbourhood so it's a little quiet. Especially during the week.
The way the Kenyans are Charging you when buying something from them is extremely high price bro am greating you from Mombasa loving your videos and also a subscriber 👊💯 A Somali subscriber 🇸🇴👈
Just caught that you are a Somali subscriber! I've been hitting up CJ's restaurant in Nairobi. I was told that its owner is Somalian. I love the place but I wouldn't mind a glass of wine with my meal. However, I do understand and I keep going back to CJs. BTW, Somalia is on my list of places to visit. I might reach out for places to visit, likely the north when it is time.
I am Kenyan but live abroad, visiting this market can be overwhelming I have to bring a local because the moment I open my mouth my price doubles you are a brave soul.
@@RichardDebs Kenya is still my first home but the US has been my second home too last 20 years. I do make the trip every year and am now contemplating working from there just like you.
I'm a Kenyan and admit that it can be very weird in Maasai market. Soon tourist will start to avoid that place because of the chaos. It needs to be controlled asap. Before it was quite chill and nice place to be. Go there will a local. 🙂
Nothing unusual about this. Aggressive vendors is part and parcel of international travel. The reason they persisted with you is because they sense weakness in you.
Basically the street kids follow almost everyone and no one stops them so it's a rite of passage when you are living in nairobi? You have to learn to ignore them and they will leave .
Richard, the trick is to know you're not asshole when you're "rude" or ignore the people pestering you. You showed a chink in your armour by showing a little kindness or willingness to entertain the hustling. Yes, it was your fault 😂
The Maasai market is a rite of passage. You'll know you're a local when you learn to navigate it without feeling bothered.
I totally agree. I'll get there.

Someone mentioned that as well. I will definitely check that place out. Would I have to negotiate there as well?
Yes, definitely still negotiate

Thanks. I know the prices are high. When they offer better prices, I will know that I'm Kenyan. 😂

OMG thats me in the beginning of the video😂😂😂 crazy I was able to stumble upon this! And I agree the Masai Market was absolutely beautiful
That's so cool. I have always wondered if you saw it 😂
@@RichardDebs haha I did eventually
This market is realy nice

Where have you relocated to?

@@georgegitau6425 You bring a local?
@@Eddyke Yes my sister does all the talking for me we just have a secret signal when I am interested in something ☺️

That was stern?
The Peter part made me laugh 😂 funny

Sure. They should behave like Eastleigh warias...
I really did have fun but I can see how it might be a challenge for some because I became overwhelmed at times.
@@RichardDebs You are right. I can see you are trying to help everyone. You need to be tough. 🙂
I was waiting to see what happened down there😁
Well it was nuts but you knew that already 😊
we should go together for a 10 dollar challenge.i bet this will help with the burgaining
You're on the list. Saw you collab with Victorine.
@@RichardDebs That's right, You hit me up then when you ready.
nice vibes karinu kenya
It was fun 😊
You should visit other counties to experience every wonder of kenya
Not to worry, Kenya will be my permanent home and I will be bringing videos from all over Kenya because I plan to experience it all.
A few moments later
Massai market is just exceptional
I couldn't agree more.
Even me as a local it's like a minefield.

Wow! You're now a true kenyan
I had to give it a shot 😂😂
@@RichardDebs 😉keep it up
The fact that you're a mzungu they knew you're loaded so you have to buy 😂😂😂
Not loaded for sure but I don't mind supporting a bit. I get lots from Kenya so it is only fair that I give back in some small way. 🙏
Watching from Nairobi #afrosam
Thanks for watching 🙏
Good job
I went back for a day 2 in the next video 😊
@@RichardDebs let me check
😂😂😂😂don't worry it's called Nairobi hustle every one wants a piece of cake from muzungu
I need some more sun I guess 😂😂
😂😂😂
Am Kenyan local and those baggers they keep disturbing us the same way they did to you it is annoying but I help them some times
He he...the traders want your money!
Soon I will be speaking swahili and not wearing swimming trunks in the city. Perhaps then, I will be considered a local 😂😂
mboka ni mboka, sisi hatusumbui mtu akiwa hustle yake. wacha watoi watafute
I hear ya but I saw a Kenyan once shake his head because he felt the hustle was just too deep. 😊
I also had a vendor tell me that he can't sell me an item because it was too crappy.
Basically the street kids follow almost everyone and no one stops them so it's a rite of passage when you are living in nairobi? You have to learn to ignore them and they will leave .
You are no longer Mzungu; you are a Kenyan
😂😂😂😂 Yes!!!
Foolish
Hmmm
