I still remember this happened at my Grandfather's funeral. Rip 1st Sgt. Jack Lee Bowen, 101st Airborne.

That really means something when a group of grown men, most combat vets will stand there and cry when that bugle sounds while the flag is folded.
My granddad hade this several years ago too

Beautiful monument to our fallen. Respectfully, I have a question. I attended a military funeral in recent years and they did thia exact same thing. By that, I mean they pointed their weapons right at us, the mourners. Is this normal and if so, WHY???
They get paid per performance so they need to make money somehow
Because its part of respect and usually they are 20 feet away and they use blanks so you dont have to worry i hope i could help
The weapons are not pointed at the morners at the service most of the time we are at least a hundred feet away.The rifle volley is fired at a 11 o'clock position so if there is a problem it will not effect anyone.Blank ammo is used and flash suppressors at the end of the barrel are used to avoid injury.
