Hi Guy, you're amazing. In only 19 min you give enough good energy to try make something with my favorite library BBC SO Discovery (it's the only one i have) and Labs of course to give a bite of lighthning like you the rest of the year. Take care of you, your team and your family. God save UK and the rest of the worl. Greattings from Switzerland
I very much enjoy this series of videos. I know that they're reasonably brief, but if you could take a moment here and there to explain a bit of your thought process it would be even better. Happy Christmas, Guy!
Guy, I simply LOVE the way you are teaching! If only I was 60 years younger, I'd move from Office work to Musicology.... but only with you as my teacher 😊
Sounds lovely, thanks ever so much Guy, and thanks for the free courses!! 😍 👏 Happy Christmas, and happy holidays to you, the team... and the ThinkSpace Community! 💝🎅
I'm still amazed, as usual, by the way Guy manages to just instantly play things in that usually sound great... If I eventually manage to get anywhere within distant shouting distance of being able to do that well, I'll be very happy :)
This was good fun! And a great watch! I am very glad to know I am not the only musician who talks to himself - helps me think too mate! Have a wonderful Xmas/New year (Happy Holidays).
Thanks Guy another great video. I can almost see the opening shots, the camera flies over a Texas ranch, white horses dashing through the snow. Er, don’t think they have snow in Texas Dave, oh well, a great tune anyway. Please keep these videos coming, cheers Dave. Merry Christmas to all the team.
Thanks for all the content Guy! I've picked up a few horn and string plugins since I started watching your videos to supplement my boneheaded guitar/bass rock&roll, it's been super fun!
earliest i've ever been to a Guy video! Love the video! I hesitate a lot with writing 'christmas music', so it's really nice that you've released a tutorial covering it! :D P.S. FX track just MUST be a recurring character!
Guy - will you do a review/tutorial with Yangqin, the free plugin from Native-Instruments? I'd love to see you do some hammered chinese dulcimer music 🔥
What is that controller thingie by the right side of the PC keyboard with four rows of lighted buttons (around 8 buttons per row) ? it is sitting at a 45 degree angle looking up. And what is it used for ?
You should consider having your doggo in the shed with you - then when you start talking to yourself you can at least pretend you're talking to him. Unless he starts talking back of course....... Merry Christmas Guy, you're a diamond.
Guy is using Elgato's Stream Deck. This allows you to trigger hot keys/short cuts - in this case he will have set up a short cut key for Cubase's "Retrospective Recording" which records MIDI inputs on the selected track when Cubase is running - hopefully, as sometimes it doesn't :-)
What whould you remove in this piece to make it work under dialoge without grabbing attension? I know it depends on the dialogue, but say a general christmas thing.
Probably just have those low strings humming and then for no dialogue or a transition/bridge/compilation/ending you can bring it all in. Just a hobbyist here though lol
@@thesoundvault508 Yeah That's probably how I would have done it. The glockenspiel takes too much attention. I would take away the melody so the dialogue can be the melody. As long as the dialogue is not in the same frequency as the music it's okay.
At 6:30 you say "as a lead line or as a counterpoint-y type line" and then you inadvertently play the first five notes of the Irish National Anthem in the correct key and with perfect timing, it gave me a good laugh.
Hey Guy, is there anyway I could get advice on some of my music? I don't have a lot of people to get feedback from, so it would be much appreciated! Great video too (:
LOL -- My plugs have never talked to me -- but then again maybe I'm not listening. HA HA -- Great video -- definately lifts the blues of not being able to spend time with the family
Xmas at Downton Abbey :) And yes, speaking to his plugings and having imaginary chats with them... It's our fate, alone in our studio/shed/cave/where you want...
That 1 wrong guitar note in the first section drives me nuts. Otherwise, great stuff. I'm jealous of how easily you come up with alternative melodies for all the instruments.
That was more like the opening scene from movie with bicycle rider.. not Christmas... half of that would have been enough with some sleigh bells.. that would have been more like Christmas.. Christmas is no complicated. It is a time to relax and things happen with simplicity..
Guy's videos have become fuzzy recently. His screen grabs are crystal clear, but the camera to his left could be in 720 or fuzzy 1080!! Otherwise good videos as always :-)
Sorry Guy, that piece didn't work for me. I think it was the guitar, it felt like a sledge hammer knocking my front door down. It needed something a lot less harsh taking the lead. That's what Christmas music is to me, all soft and cuddly.
Thanks so much for the inspiration to be writing during this oddball holiday season. My "homework", scored mostly with the Virtual Playing Orchestra, plus Pianoteq and a cittern: ua-cam.com/video/j1r0IaVM870/v-deo.html

Merry Christmas everyone!
The fact that you make it look so easy is a tribute to your professionalism. Thanks once again for your work.
Thank you Guy. It is amazing how quick you image the melody of each instrument and inmediately translate it to the keyboard.
Needs more cow bells ... ahm ... sleigh bells
Happy Christmas Guy!
Thank you for showing new composers there’s more to MIDI music than just trailers and epic drums/low end.
He added the trailer music and epic drums after he stopped recording. 😂😂

6:29 The intro to the Irish National Anthem. Why thank you, Guy. And a very Happy Christmas to you too. 😃
Me: How many string libraries do you need?
Guy: Yes.
I very much enjoy this series of videos. I know that they're reasonably brief, but if you could take a moment here and there to explain a bit of your thought process it would be even better. Happy Christmas, Guy!

Happy happy Christmas Guy to you, your family and the team 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
I published a festive tune to my channel this week too. Thanks for these fun videos, Guy. So good!
The speed and alacrity with which you work is truly amazing.
Merry Christmas Guy! I've loved your videos over the past year! You're really helped me get through the pandemic!
Lovely blinking Christmas tune Guy. Merry Christmas!
Sounds lovely, thanks ever so much Guy, and thanks for the free courses!! 😍 👏 Happy Christmas, and happy holidays to you, the team... and the ThinkSpace Community! 💝🎅

You are amazing man!!! I really enjoy almost all of your videos ...
Thanks Guy, very nice and Merry Christmas!

I feel good when see u my hero ...Happy New Year....I hope 2021 will be BETTER than 2020.

love you guy. thank you for sharing your ideas. merry Christmas
Hi Guy! Wonderful channel, invaluable tips and incredible lessons! Am I still on time for those Christmas presents you talked about?
earliest i've ever been to a Guy video! Love the video! I hesitate a lot with writing 'christmas music', so it's really nice that you've released a tutorial covering it! :D
P.S.
FX track just MUST be a recurring character!
I'm afraid I think it sounds more like a piece that would be perfect for a drone shot sequence on Countryfile in the spring or summer.
Merry Christmas Guy, thanks for the courses and everything !
Guy - will you do a review/tutorial with Yangqin, the free plugin from Native-Instruments? I'd love to see you do some hammered chinese dulcimer music 🔥
Guy! We don't need Santa! We have you! 👨🦲🎵💥
At first this piece reminded me of the "Troika" from Prokofiev's "Lt Kije". Were evocative of snow and winter
what is that item on the right side of the keyboard with the buttons
Spotted the start of the Irish national anthem at 6:31. :-)
Thank you Guy.
What is that controller thingie by the right side of the PC keyboard with four rows of lighted buttons (around 8 buttons per row) ? it is sitting at a 45 degree angle looking up. And what is it used for ?
Answered my own question from another of Guy's great tutorials: it's a Stream Deck XL 32. Gotta get one !
You should consider having your doggo in the shed with you - then when you start talking to yourself you can at least pretend you're talking to him. Unless he starts talking back of course.......
Merry Christmas Guy, you're a diamond.
Merry Christmas Guy !!
Just found you on UA-cam. Wonderful!
Merry Xmas Guy!
Insta like of the video for that pullover.
Guy Michelmore , you are wonderful. “Do your plugins talk to you?”
Hello Mister,
Thank you so much for sharing your magic tricks !
: )
It sounds beautiful!
You da man, Guy.
btw, you're the first one I have ever seen talking to audio tracks😂😂 amazing content!
Only missing the requisite sleigh bells. ;)
Marvelous.
Great vid as always.
5 mins in and it already sounds like a level in Bit Trip Runner
Thanks for your videos, It’s so amazing!
&& also, What’s your magic preset button bringing back the track you forgot to record?

Hey Guy, would you do a review of Infinite Brass/WW? It's apparently very playable/versatile!

The plugin whisperer. Merry Christmas Linda
It's sounds like something from the Christmas 24 tv station.
Incredible
I would of added some percussion, maybe a snare or a low pitch drum.
Love this series!
Great Tutorial
Fun.
Xmas at Downton Abbey :)
And yes, speaking to his plugings and having imaginary chats with them... It's our fate, alone in our studio/shed/cave/where you want...
1:15 Nice nod to Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kijé
This sounds like a The Sims soundtrack 😂👌
But... But... Where are the sleighbells, Guy?
When did Spitfire Chamber Strings become free?
OK, the "made mainly using free instruments" thing has kinda fallen by the wayside. Still, nice result. :)
@@chonkypixel1006 Yes when I wanted to finish it and I quite liked it I went with an old fave
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Don't blame you, they sounded lush. The horns too.
How can I send you a peice of my music for review?
The mixagem is already in Guys hands when he plays
That 1 wrong guitar note in the first section drives me nuts. Otherwise, great stuff. I'm jealous of how easily you come up with alternative melodies for all the instruments.
"Mostly free instruments"
Uses one free instrument 😆
😂😂🥲

Having a tough time trying not to be distracted by the blinking sweater.

Otherwise good videos as always :-)
Auto ISO was turned on by mistake!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Aha, yes that makes sense!! Maybe some additional 'Elfmas' lighting would help :-)
Starting to feel like Christmas - thanks Guy.
Hahahahaha Guy! U broke the rules! U said you will use mostly free libraries 😂😂😂.. U didn't
the constant and loud pound of the C distracts IMHO
6:15 I think you meant to say meat and potatoes, not meat and two veg! XD
:-) :-) :-)
Oh, and I'm a subscriber too... what do you think! 🥴
Awesome, guy - me at Gmail - inspires me to do something quite complimenting to you and yours - Merry Merry and Happy Happy!
You r a cool dude behind a old man....🤭🤭
Much restraint was shown by not adding sleigh bells. Well done :-)
Embrace the cliche - bar 14, on 2, 3 and 4, three shakes of sleigh bells, just barely audible.
im so sad i found this late. 😭😔
If only one day I could just pull stuff like that out of my a**e.....

can I subscribe 10 times to a channel? what about putting 100 likes on one video?
