Has anyone else notice this? Watching a third party app, an advert pops onto the screen, asking you if you want Amazon prime. First time I thought I had pressed something wrong, this evening it was the third time.
I stopped using the firestick a year ago I knew all this stuff was going to happen, purchased a VSee box pro 3 and a Superbox I use a VPN while streaming they come with TV and VOD included no issues since making the switch . They cost more but the value you get with the box pays for itself.
Amazon has been silently deleting these apps for a while now. It seems completely random when it happens and you can always reinstall. Still complete nonsense for sure. Still using RD, but it has been acting weird for last 6 months at least. Latest issue is half the streams are black screen but still have audio.
The older gen Firesticks they dropped a update that completely bricked them. No support from amazon or anything and they worked completely fine before the update. We have 7 devices and the ones we set up and gifted to family members added up to 12 total and each one died in the same month span. We had to suck it up and buy the newer gens but it sucks its what we have to stick with. I was considering upgrading to the Cube but if amazon can brick them without warning and without helping out the customer then I can't justify spending the money.
Thank you for this update. It is much appreciated and I will certainly take more notice of my home screen in future. My firestick 4K max still shows games, find, home, live and my stuff to the left of the home screen and I still have 6 of my favourite apps on the right along with my apps home button and settings tabs. I am having to scroll down 4 times to get to recently used apps. Under recently used apps there are no fewer than 19 lines with all manner of recommendations. I hadn't noticed that I'm being bombarded with so many recommendations. I guess because I use the dedicated app button on the remote and go to my favourite app I've not noticed.
I will not advise ppl to buy a firestick...soon you will not be able to put anything on it unless your paying for it... Get android device or box...where you are free to do anything
my fire tv 4k max has started to stop my movie and goto the home screen. it does it constantly during a movie. I tried to clear cache and data then reboot the fire tv but it still does it. Im running the stick through my Onkyo receiver using the supplied AC adaptor. PS not caused by any update.
Would having a VPN result in Real Debrid working again? My account is still there and active although I get streams listed, none of them work. I haven't seen the note you display in the video. Where can I access that and read the entire message? Strange how all streams are torrent, too. It didn't use to be like that.
@@TechDoctorUK Great question! personally, I've yet to see any alternative streaming device reviewed online that hasn't highlighted some sort of big enough flaw that has made me buy to use as a main streaming device - At the end of the day, Firestick has all the apps i need (including the free UK ones), sideloading is good, has great picture quality and have had no issues - yet! NVIDIA SHIELD seems to have everything though is expensive and old

UA-cam channel love the firestick and most of their subscribers are firestick users like i once was , need to move on to bigger and better things i was a diehard firesticks user but no more ive move and started using the Walmart onn 4k pro streaming box.

You can put off updating for the longest time, but eventually, it will stop working and / or operate erratically. In other words, it's not really an option
Too much 'to and fro', get rid of the hassle, people keeping these devices alive is not going to encourage change. Im sick of new detractors popping up every month. However i do applaud your efforts in helping existing users but they need to face facts and ditch these wasteful devices unless they genuinely are happy with their current use case.

The updates honestly do not bother me. To push the down arrow a few more times to see my apps seems trivial and extremely easy to do. So for me, none of this would give me reason to abandon Firesticks. Hey, but to each his own.

I suffered a spontaneous macular retinal detachment of my left eye 3 to 4 years ago. All it's good for his blurred images. And my 'good' eye is not all that great as it stands. Typically, I did not involve myself in my FireStick's Home page too much, so I never messed with the hassle of Alternate Launcher Managers. I would just immediately hit the 'My Stuff' button to either watch 'live tv' via the EPG, watch Recordings OR go into a 'shortcut' App or just click the 'Your Apps & Channels' button ... all right there on the Menu Row (or often, into the 'Recently used apps' row immediately below). These were moves that I could SEE well-enough because they were DISTINGUISHED from all the multi-colored advertising garbage BELOW it! Now, my 'Recently used apps is FOUR ROWS DOWN! And surrounded by a morass of multi-colored garbage ... from which even my good eye can barely distinguish them! And to make it worse, they took my SIX shortcuts away and left an empty gray waste if space in its place!!! So much for 'Accessibility' for us sight-challanged customers, eh? Oh, yeah, that button is buried down in the bottom of the Settings Menu! 2.) Also, what now happens to people who are 'COLOR-BLIND'? Before this idiocy, they could fairly easily find the stuff they needed, because it was right there at the top. They could distinguish it by POSITION, right? I just updated my Fire TV on Friday, and I didn't get this update. From the looks of things, this new update sucks.

Use Vimu player or Kodi. Firesticks don’t play nicely with some files that have hdr10+ and Dolby vision

Not recommended to anybody anymore.. There are many new ones to buy with amazing features.
I'll never buy another Fire stick again. Have 6 of them but will move on soon. All their updates are downgrades and slows everything down as well.
