Bruh my rationale is 1000 words long. It's been so long since I've written an essay and the first time I do it in months, it's about a Minecraft roleplay
Highkey wanted to call the animatic Dr[e]amaturgy but felt like that would've ruined the atmosphere lmao

spent 2 months working on this, holy crap this was the biggest thing I've ever done.
To clarify again: I'm not a c!Dream apologist, don't accuse me of being one. You're welcome to disagree with me and each other in the comments. However, be RESPECTFUL and CIVIL. No personal attacks. Having a different opinion doesn't automatically make someone a bad person. Standing up for Dream doesn't make someone a person that condones child abuse, just as standing up for Sam/Quackity doesn't make someone a person that condones torture. In the end, this is just a Minecraft roleplay.
Before someone brings it up, I know I made Sapnap too dark haha. I colour-picked off his Minecraft skin, but only realized how it could come off in the middle of the animatic. By then I couldn't change the previous frames and just had to commit to the design. Sorry about that, it won't happen again.

Ooooo I'd love to have an animatic based off of Outrunning Karma by Alec Benjamin because I feel like it would fit Tommy and/or Dream. I know its probably not your preference so its fine if you don't do it but I feel like there should be a dsmp animatic based off of that song but I can't find any which sucks

Idk if this was just because the artist didint want too many strings over Tommy but if you look closely the strings on Tommy’s wrist end in nothing almost as if they were cut

Yesss I've finally found a comment that thinks like I do. Dream was sick of his friends following him into battle and seeing them get hurt. So he decided to cut them off and fight his own battles. But he lost himself in his solitude. He also realized that without his friends he is more powerful. While he misses them and wants to protect them he can get an unimaginable amount of power.

I really like the way this portrays Dreams control. He is afraid. And all that does is make him distance himself so much that all he knows is being in control, and he’s broken. He didn’t want to fight, but the “script” have him no choice, hence the green ropes even around himself.

@@checkeraj1971 Tommy is basically the Villain in Dream's perspective, but Dream is the villain in his story because he was the one giving obstacles to everything Tommy has done (Not to forget the torturing part-Like can the victim even think of something positive from the abuser? Especially knowing their background before the second exile)
I love how this humanizes the character. Like anyone, he got pushed over the edge. It doesn't justify...only offers explanation from his point of view. Whether you consider it flawed or not.

I think it's pretty interesting how puffy's most recent arch is mirroring dream's, they felt the need to protect the server and the way they saw fit is to devoid themselves of their humanity and play the "bad guy" part (puffy states that she'll be the villain but I believe that during the L'manburg war dream tough he was in the right) i just hope that, unlike dream, puffy doesn't lose all of her humanity and becomes the monster that dream became, he had "good" intentions but went too far down the rabbit hole and lost himself, the lessons Ranboo remembers are not only things dream tough him, but things he tough himself to do what he considered right.

@Vlogged he told Punz (lore stream) that he wanted to united the server together instead of keeping it divided, in a way, he succeeded as they worked together to take him down, and then the egg. (my theory) he got lost into his ideals and eventually loses himself since he cut ties from his friends, normal life, things he cared about, his happiness, and lastly his mental health, which was the blowback or price to succeed his mission. (talking bout the rp)
@Vlogged He originally (and still does) wants the server to be united which is why he tried to destroy the dividing faction exclusive to Europeans (L'manburg) and kill Tommy because he rebelled in supporting nations. Dream fell way too far down the rabbit hole now and is willing to do anything to keep people together (like that speech in the vault explains).

I loved the green ropes throughout the video and how Dream keeps ahold of them even when he’s in prison - he is still powerful even though he’s been stripped from all physical means of control

This is just beautiful. Dream is my favorite lore character in DSMP because of his tragic story and being a villain, whose good motives led to transformation into a cold-blooded, evil mastermind. The way he is pictured here is just awesome

He's desperate to attain peace but is hardened and shaped by the people and environment that he morphs into what they expect of him.

Almost to me he is a Broken Hero that suffers from Tommyinit selfish, desire, mischief, and trickster actions. The only way to save him is to destroy something like destroy the L'manburg.

What I love most about Dream’s lore is that he’s ultimately the start of everything. Without him, there is no L’Manberg, since it started on his server, without him, there are no wars, without him, there’d be no discs, without him, there is no Doomsday, without him, there is no election, without him, there is no Syndicate, Snowchester, etc, without him, none of what happened in the SMP would’ve happened. It all starts with Dream making the server, and bringing everyone together. I also quite like the fact that because of Dream shouldering the villain name, once or if he dies, he can’t take the blame since he’s... you know... dead? and if any bad thing happens again, like another war or something, the others don’t have someone to ultimately place the blame on, since the one person who they all know can take it, is pretty much dead
Edit: sorry about the long rant, but I absolutely love the strings wrapped around everyone, even with Dream in prison, and that part with Dream and Puffy, Dream cutting his strings and refraining from manipulating Puffy? Amazing, made me tear up a bit remembering how she considered Dream her little duckling;w;
I also JUST noticed how Dream started off with a mask that didn’t completely cover his face, showing off his face, then only his mouth, before at the point he realized that attachments will be his weakness, in which he wears a mask that fully covers his face, and covers his body in armor, to show that he’s not weak, he has no attachments, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep himself in power, no matter if he has to let his pride and dignity be tarnished as a result. However, at the end, his mask is broken, but as a replacement, he now ‘wears’ a facade to hide everything - the pain, the sadist, the manipulator, his real self, but ultimately embraces his villainous nature as the puppeteer since everyone left him and shoved this title onto him, making him think and believe he is ultimately the villain

@@ess884 That’s his entire character, you may hate him, but he’s an essential part of the entire SMP that resulted in a huge development of character for each person on the SMP, and his change is the most drastic

I love this, it show so much. What Dream once was and what a monster he has become. He wanted to be a peace-keeper and good person, look where he is now thanks to that. I also love how it shows how he started to see the strings, as a bad thing. Makes me wonder if he will get a redemption arc. He can't be too innocent for all of his actions, yet he made points that could not be denied. There is also a bit of what I think is self hate in what he is becoming. Also the first bit shows he was not the monster at the start at all, only around the end of the Pog vs Manburg war. Does he start his fall.

In the end, no one's actually evil. It is just that everyone is sad. Dream is technically the perfect example. He is just a regular person that has grudges against another one. Did he deserve being in prison? That is truly up to how we perceive it. I'd say he did not deserve it because some of them has done equally as bad things such as.
Tommyinnit when he burned down George's house. When he betrayed Technoblade. When he got Wilbur revived by Dream. And when he betrayed Dream and left exile.
Tubbo when he exiled Tommy. When he gave Dream the disc. And when he locked Philza in his(Philza) own house
Wilbur Soot when he blew up L'manburg. And when he said, "Tommy, you'll never be president".
The Butcher Army tried to execute Technoblade.
Technoblade destroyed L'manburg 2 times(WOW). Held several hostages. And just being a straight-up murderer.
Ranboo when he betrayed L'manburg during the war. When he blew up the Community House.
Philza when he helped Technoblade in the war.
Niki when she burned down the L'mantree.
Eret when he betrayed L'manburg.
Everyone that was on Dream's side betrayed him.
The Eggpire when they executed Foolish during the Red Banquet. And when they corrupted various people.
Dream when he started the war against L'manburg. When he joins Technoblade's side to destroy L'manburg 2 times. When he forced L'manburg to exile Tommy. When he killed Tommy in prison. When he tortured Tommy in exile. When he dethroned Eret. When he forcefully got the disc from Tubbo. And when he manipulated Ranboo.
Everyone did what they thought was right, was it to protect? Because of a grudge? To avenge something? It does not matter. As everyone one of them did something wrong, but in their perspective. They thought it was the right thing to do.

Actually Ranboo was on his enderwalk state when he blew up the house and betrayed LManberg so he he had no control of what he was doing, also Nikki burned down one tree, that's not as bad as Dream.

It’s so cool that Dream starts out in a hoodie and a half mask, but by the end he’s in this crazy armor and hooded cloak with his mask almost as apart of him. It shows how he’s changed

Dream was right at the beginning till the imanberg war but after getting so much power he became power hungry.
But I want to know about his past and his perspective to all this.

I'm not sure he's power hungry. It doesn't feel like a good description for his spiral. It's a desire for control, sure, but a desire that comes from a lack of control, lack of a voice. Dream has been dehumanized quite a lot, just like Techno, but he can't escape the box they put him in. He wants things to be peaceful, he wants unity, but no one listened to him and instead told him what his goals are, what he wants. They projected their idea of him... onto him... to the point even Dream started to believe it and just became what they expected of him. It's a little sad tbh.

I like to think of him as a fallen hero. He had good intentions and morals at the very beginning but then had his fall from grace where he ended up as what he is now.
I love the last image, Tommy being completely connected and controlled by dream but isn't as connected to dream as he previously was(cut strings around his arms[Lemon Studioz noticed that]), technoblade only having a small string around his pinky so dreams control over him is fairly weak(the favor), George having a string around his ring finger , and ranboo also being almost completely connected to dream with both of his hands tied up
Yeah i saw that too but i dunno for george the ring part work but it’s not dream behind it’s dreamXD and i don’t think they have a lot of link between them because you know dreamXD is a separate entity (i mean between dream and dreamXD)

I kind of have a mini head cannon that dream knows they are in a "show" for other peoples amusement. He constantly acts unnecessarily evil too keep it interesting. Because if people stop watching, they wont exist anymore. Something like they need an audience

It could go both ways with what we know now about the betrayal being planned between the two. Those lines were, at the time, relating directly to the plot twist of Punz betraying Dream. But they could also be foreshadowing with how the story went, where Punz was still working with Dream and the plot twist would be his betrayal to Tommy and Tubbo in the final lore stream(s).

One of the best psychology drama i've seen. Nobody is a monster from birth, but people change based on what happens. Dream wanted control and is smart, he had pretty much all the characteristics to become psychopathic, all it took was a little push and you could create someone that can be a danger to everything around him.
This animatic is a perfect example of the complexity of the Dream SMP about who is the villain: the people who wanted things the way they were in the beginning, those who want a just government, those who want anarchy and no tyranny, and those who find things to mean the opposite of what others thing. Love this animatic! Good work!😍

These are the best lines to describe the character of Dream (in Dream SMP)
(Idk why these lines make me feel that Dream has been betrayed by many people in the past, and then he decided to gain so much power and leave behind all emotional feelings and memories, and manipulate people to make the DreamSMP as it was before in early days, "peaceful")

@@checkeraj1971 what if it wasnt JUST techno? maybe some others too? maybe dream will escape and cause chaos (possibily just by escaping (not having done anything)) and have been about to kill sam and quackity (and maybe a few others) but techno and maybe puffy and the rest of the dream team manages to get dream to calm down a little?

We havent seen his backstory yet, but i like to think that he is an ex hero who has been broken, used, hurt and manipulated by many people before so , thats why he is afraid of emotional attachments, because it would break his trust and made him fall onto despair over and over again
So, thats why his goal is to gain control over the land to protect the people and land, but by no means emotional attachments, i mean...he has good intentions ..but HE really exucuted it wrong

The reason that I am mentioning the words "other members" because Dream doesn't stream much about his lore ( I think that there is barely any lore stream on his Twitch account) and due to that reason we don't have much idea about his lore...
So, What if all the things which happened were just a plan by Dream....For example Dream getting locked in the prison....
Because according to me Dream is a very different player... He is not like TechnoBlade or someone else...
He is a very mysterious person, And even the members of the Dream SMP don't know much about him...
And the way, he revealed his idea to Tommy and Tubbo about manipulating people and putting Tommy in the prison, in DiscSaga finale. That seems planned to me...
Because he is just full of secrets, before he had underground bases and stuff like that. So now, Why would he revealed his plans....
And in one of Punz's stream, he told Punz that, there would be a time, when each and every member of the Dream SMP will hate Dream. And, due to that reason he has to go far away. So, he is appointing Punz to take care of the SMP in Dream's absence.....
I think this time in the Disc Saga, The disc doesn't matter for Dream......
And there are so many other things also, which will make you think that this was planned.....
So those are the reasons, which make me think that Dream has already planned all these....... And I know that he will escape the prison soon....

The symbolism behind dream's mask is so amazing!
At first - no mask on (humane)
2nd part (war) - starting to be a little cold to people with mask on (since, war)
Last part - completely thrown away emotions, damaged full face mask (completely cold and inhumane)

The way that Wilbur seemed frustrated when Philza was hesitating to kill him, and he just threw himself on the sword is PERFECT
Undoubtedly, one of the best Dream SMP animations ever made
tbh just drawing the scenes themselves are pretty complicated and she even colored it wow that really takes a long time and effort
What i like the most is that Dream signified that Puffy is important to him by Seeing then Cutting the Strings connecting him to puffy.

This is criminally underrated. The song is an excellent choice and the animation very nice and fluid. The fact it is completely colored and shaded is amazing too. Give yourself a pat on the back, because this is a banger.
aaahhhh using juby's english cover for this was such a good idea. with context, her translation of the lyrics fits dream's character so well. Especially the part where she sings "Always been me, empty, a body but nobody here to see" because the closest english translation of that line to the original japanese lyrics is "I can't remember a single role that suited me" and that would fit Tommy more imo. and also, this animatic was really good !!!

OMG and your character designs are so well-drawn, how you convey everyone's emotions and the facial expressions are just- *chefs kiss*. The transition in 3:35 with Tommy's facial expressions is amazing- as well as all the times when we see guilt in Dream's expression less and less until it becomes simply nowhere in the last few scenes, signifying his fall. Like 1:10 or 2:20.
How well you matched the song, this song is so PERFECT for this! I could clearly see how each line correlated with your animatic and just AHHHH its so well made, rivals the Go Tonight animatic too- and they're both masterpieces- Each frame is SO GOOD! One comment cannot describe every single little detail you put into this, but just know that "We know how this will all end" in the duel is so clever- You are SO UNDERRATED!
And you don't really know the point where he becomes the true villain, he just generally progresses into it, there's no specific point. Well, 2:23 is most likely the point where he falls into his state, but it's a clear progression each frame as he slowly becomes a monster. There's no significant change each scene and instead is gradual and you just do that so well-
And all the recurring elements, the chessboard, the strings, ahhhh this is perfection-
Just- watching this and everything is so smooth with ups and downs, I said it once and I'll say it again, you couldn't have choosen a better song, because this was ONE HECK OF A ROLLERCOASTER! All the moments where its rushed and at its climax and then it suddenly dips lower and slower yet still doesn't lose your attention-

Ok so I think Dream did all those things on the server so it can come together. Cause he knows he’s strong so the only way to beat him was for everyone to join up against him, even if it meant he had to be the villain. At first he was acting but like in the song I think he actually become the role when he is aware of the eyes watching him. (Us the viewer of their lives) at first he pretended to be the villain, and thinking of ways for the plot to change to entertain us but then it all changed and he got caught up in the role and forgot his true self.
That’s just what I think :)

The clip at 4:13 is incredible! It shows the ties/influence Dream has on people still. It's around Ranboo's wrists because he's controlling his actions. Around George's left ring finger because of the love they share (lore-wise). Around Techno's pinky because of the promise/favour. Lastly, the rope around Tommy's wrists is severed because he is no longer controlling him anymore, but the rope around his neck is still there. Such cool details!!!!

I really like the touch at the end, where different characters are shown with the strings. More specifically I like the fact that both George and Techno have their string tied around their finger symbolizing a promise, rather than around their wrists symbolizing control. Not to mention George's is on his left ring finger. ;)

The Punz scene hits differently after his new lore
Analysis of 14:13 ,
Ranboo: only has his hands tied instead of his neck. Reminds you that he still has some freedom as it is only when he enderwalks which he can't control, so only half of him is controlled but other half isn't, all while knowing he is doing bad things unwillingly.
George: only has his left ring finger tied. The left ring finger is the finger where the wedding ring goes. Represents that George still hasn't gotten over the fact that Dream had cut ties with him and is in prison, never to be seen outside of it ever again. So he still has a connection with Dream positively.
Technoblade: only has right pinkie. The pinkie is the least important finger but is still needed for more grip. He has this because there is still a favor that he owes Dream. Even though to the other smp members (in the story) considers it very dangerous to owe Dream a favor, Technoblade would put it at the back of his mind. He doesn't care what goes on on the smp unless there is a government. So even if he unleashes Dream from prison or helps him in some sort of way, it would just be a favor he owed. It isn't that important to him.
Tommy: both neck and hands tied. Unlike Ranboo (who was mainly controlled than manipulated but still knew whether (character) Dream was bad or not), Tommy didn't realize that Dream was manipulating him and believed Dream was his friend. He even has a trident in his hand which symbolizes freedom, something that he doesn't have from Dream. This only shows that even with a trident in hand and Dream being in prison, he still hadn't escaped Dream's manipulation and control (yet?). Dream would still be able to manipulate Tommy one way or another.
Anyways..... This was a beautiful song, animatic and analysis!! Hope you understand my analysis. I just found it awesome that the creator even added this short but fulll of meaning scene. Have a nice day!!

A really cool detail is that because if the excorcism at 2:25, Dream's mask changes to cover his whole face, starting at 2:30.

The song lyrics fit so well with the actual plot, and the animation itself was brilliant. I don’t know whether this is just me or it was done on purpose, but I love that the way Dream cuts the strings. It remind me of the Fates from Greek mythology who would cut the yarn of fate to decide when it was time for someone to die.
Okay, this really is just such a good animatic (Can we call this that? it seems a bit more like a PMV, but still amazin)
I love everything about this, the way it follows Dream, how it tells us where his moral lies, how he feels throughout all these events. God its just, so good. If I had the time to sit here and analyze everything I would but, I'll just leave with this.
Dramaturgy has always been a song that holds such much inner battles, and it matches Dream so well. The way you portray everything, from his relationships to Tommy, to his friends, to even Puffy. Its amazing insight and Schlatt? God. The fact you see the mask more and more as you get to the end, portraying Dream hiding his emotions more and more. It is just so well done. I love this and definitely subbed with notifs on. I can't see what you do next, whatever fandom or genre it may be

You don't understand d how much I adore this. 💕 I adore how you interpreted Dream in the beginning, having good intentions, but then losing thought of those good intentions and inevitably falling into his doom due to people pushing a role of him as the villain during that past time. I love how drastic his attitude changes during this, showing character development, but not in a positive light. I also really love the art, the editing, and overall I simply love this video to bits and pieces. Well done! 💖🌸

It's intentional. He does it so his friends get clout. He even hints canon lore in casual streams to force Dream SMP motivated fans to watch and see clues

I think that he'll probably do one for the Finale should he feel like viewership is going down cuz he knows that his pov is the one that people have been asking for the most. Well not really? But he knows it's in demand. Dream kinda sees UA-cam as a business so maybe that's why the algorithm favors him a whole lot. Besides, with all the plot twist he and Wilbur are adding to the script, it wouldn't surprise me if we could get a "The bad guy was never really a bad guy" moment from him in the last stream. Though I do wish they'd take it at a separate route from the Dreamon arc. I feel like that severely undermines everything that's happened in the SMP.
I loved how the further you go in the video, the more the mask takes over who dream is. Every once in a while you can see the old good dream's eye, but then the mask takes over again and it starts to do unspeakable things to others
I like when dream started turning into a puppet master controlling everyone is when he literally throws the chess board away signifying leaving the role of a king leading his army into battle into him being a mastermind that is not restricted by one group but instead controlling everyone in the server like puppets ,and as a bonus he turns his mask old mask into a full mask that covers his face which probably signifies the change in roles

Sapnap starts sad and hesitant when turning against his friend Dream, but he steels himself knowing it has to be done.
Captain Puffy goes from a somber expression to a regretful one. She does not regret what she did but she still cares about Dream at this point and laments the facts that things have comes to this.
Sam just doesn't care. He was on board with it from the start and didn't have that much of a relationship with dream in the first place (in character that is).
Punz is putting up an act and sticks to it. He plays his role as a double agent and doesn't let out any emotions.
I have watched this video again and again and I still find little details that keeps making it even better. Such a masterpiece.
