There was an abandoned cat in the busy highway two weeks ago and I saved her. We tried to find a facility to take her in but place after place denied us unless she was injured. She wasn’t injured, was very clean, she looked abandoned. We decided to keep her and she has her forever home with us now - we named her Pip. She’s a dilute calico, about 6 months old, extremely affectionate and I’ve never seen her hiss once. I feel she’ll have the best life staying with me and she agrees. 💚
When you say she doesn’t hiss, is she tame with other cats? I’ve got a 4 month female tabby old cat that was hissing at another female mother cat. I’d like to introduce her to another kitten once I get my cat tower
Omg! I recently found an abandoned dilute calico about 4 months ago, she is over a year now but when we found her she was around 10 months. She’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever met, never hisses or scratches or bites. I’m so happy to hear you also kept your kitty, and the similarities between our cats and the way we found them is insane!
I have a female cat and only in the past year did she really start getting affectionate, and she turns 4 this October. I had always wanted a lap-cat and was so sad that my kitty preferred sitting nearby rather than on you. The most affection she showed was rubbing against your legs. I moved out for uni, spending my first year in dorms so not being able to see her except holidays, before I moved out independently to my own apartment for second year onwards. I brought her with me and she had a complete personality change the day we moved - she was making biscuits (never seen her knead at all) and she became a lap-cat overnight. She sits on my lap when I sit on my couch; she sits on my desk when I’m studying; she even sleeps with me in my bed at night! She curls up on top of my head on the same pillow. She always is trying to rub her face against mine, and she understands if you make kissy noises at her and will come up to you to give you a kiss on the cheek. Never met a more affectionate cat than her, and I’m still not sure what caused her personality change but I’m not complaining. Her health is as good as ever.
I've had a few cats now that have reached old age; and I've seen them all become more affectionate the older and less active they get. It's as if they got less varied interests as they got older and started paying more attention to what's inside the house, which includes the owner 🤣. Also, depending on the personality, they might enjoy a less populated and less noisy home, which might be the reason why she enjoys the bachelorettes life you two are having now 😁.
A cat sitting on your lap is kind of over rated my cat doesn't let me move plug in a charger for phone grab a cup from a table or anything plus she tries to destroy my chopsticks when eating Japanese or Chinese food she also tries to eat fish on me
Emperor Trevor Norton lol I know they can be annoying but hey, I'll gladly take your clingy cat 🐈 off your hands 😍❤️❤️ yours must just really love you and enjoy your company!
We've had plenty of male and female cats over the years and I do think the males are more affectionate or social than the females. That said, the female cat I had as a kid we got very young. She really should have stayed with the litter for a few more weeks, but I was so anxious to get her the neighbor let her go just a week after her eyes were open. Basically, she didn't know she was a cat! Very strong personality - alternating between grumpy and affectionate. She acted like it was her house and she was just letting us live there. lol Still, it made her very endearing and we talk about her more to this day than any other cat we've ever had.
It's very traumatic for the kittens to be taken away from their mommy so early. Not to mention, the mother is having a traumatic experience as well and frequently search for her kittens. It's probably best to wait at least 2 months to avoid damage but generally 3 months is a minimum. We also had a male cat who was maybe 2 - 3 weeks when we rescued him, and he continued suckling behavior to his adult life.
@@luckycookie5063 Well, the rest of the litter got cat fever a week and died after my 8 year old self brought her home so it worked out for the best for her.
I've definitely observed that on average male cats seem to be a bit more affectionate, however the most affectionate cat I've ever had is female. So yeah it definitely depends more on individual personality
So late to the party I agree with Morgan. Depends on the personality. I had male and female cats all my life and we just adopted two females. And my most affectionate cat was a tic tabby (who was a mother but we didn't get the kids just the mom). She was the best cat I ever had but we lost her to a tumor in her toe that spread 😞
I agree. I have always noticed the males as more affectionate. Untill I met my friends female years ago (sadly she is long passed from cancer) incredibly affectionate cat. My female cat that my wife and i got when we were first dating also ended up being extremely affectionate. She is a bit sketchy with loud noises and quick movements, but she will cuddle and sleep next to you for hours.
I have 2 females and I will probably only adopt females in the future. To me, they're more fun, more spunky and active. Yes, sometimes they are less affectionate but it does depend on the cat. Both of my cats are very affectionate but I have one that craves cuddles every time of the day.
I always had only female cats it just happens, but lately we took a malecat and it's very new experience. Basicaly they like human boy and girl. Comepletely different with different needs but affectionate and cute in their own way.
@@leozackdestron1574 Yeah male and female cats act completely different, I have had more male cats in my recent years and they can be a bit more aggressive but also they are more playful and just want to be around you more than female cats.
all my previous female cats where always ALWAYS super affectionate, they always followed me around, slept with me, wanted pets all the time, layed down on my lap, my male cat is the same
I have three cats. Pumpkin is the oldest, (my kids named her. I would have named her Raya), and then the three others are litter buddies. Shadow, is a male, Oreo is a female and Sparkles is a female. Personally, I would prefer all female cats as to me, they seem like less work than males. Pumpkin is a tortoise calico, but she has black stripes and a short thick tail. She is the "queen" and shows it. She used to be the most affectionate, but became standoff-ish when my foster daughter insisted on grabbing her and holding her despite wanting to be put down. She used to curl up in my lap and on my legs, but doesn't anymore. She still needs to be with me but isn't as affectionate. Shadow's name fits him PERFECTLY!! If you are not careful, you could trip over him, (despite his size, he's a BIG BOY), as he is ALL black, but has one white wisker. He is affectionate, but on his terms. If he wants to be pet and scratched, he will come to you. Otherwise he's standoff-ish. Oreo is black & white with a tiny white strip down her nose. She is coming out of her little shell and is more talkative but very affectionate. Actually, she competes with Sparkles for affection. Sparkles is a black & white cat with a long black tail. She is the quintessential cat. She is CONSTANTLY talking to me and MUST have ALL the attention, 24/7.
In what way is a male cat more work I always thought it was the other way around, female cats are more work and they don't want to be around you from my experience.
@@donalddean2037 my son's cat, Shadow, (or as I call him; 'Bubba'), is very stand-offish. Being pet and lap time is on his terms and ONLY his terms. He will run off if you even get close to him. Where as, Pumpkin, who is my girl, loves lap time cuddling shaking paws and being pet or scratched. Oreo and Sparkles, both are females and belong to my former foster children, love and crave attention and need to be sleeping next to someone or head scratched.
I only had 1 female cat and she died a bit early (lifespan of an outdoor cat, but she was an inside kitty) due to a thyroid condition (we treated it as long as possible but her heart got enlarged and caused issues with her lungs and basically she lived as long as she could've, and we made sure she wasn't suffering). She was a sweetheart and I hope to adopt another one someday.
I’m sorry for your loss… she sounds like she was a sweetheart. I also had to put my ginger girl down last summer due to the same exact condition you mentioned. She was only 11 😔 It’s so difficult when we lose our fur friends… I hope you can give your love to another kitty some day. 🙏💛
Males tend to have rounder shaped heads with flat noses, females have the slim shaped heads with pointy noses, not always of course but in most cases, that's why it's often easier to identify males and females from a distance. Not only do cats have scent glands on their paws but they have sweat glands too, so cats sweat from their paws.
Correction -- only males that haven't been spayed have rounder shaped heads as their cheeks grow extra tissue due to hormones (to look more intimidating for other cats, most likely). Otherwise their noses can be even pointier. P. S. Not all tomcats develop chubby cheeks.
fun tip for to keep cats from scratching furniture... use a cover. I got a couch and chair cover and whenever they try to mark it... the cover pulls off with their pull and they don't like it. Also makes the couch/chair more nappable for you and the furballs.
I've found that female cats are also the most protective, more likely to spring in to action and fight when there's a threat. Male cats are more likely to run off. Female cats also seem to be more "in charge" of the household, more proactive. More diligent about scouting and enforcing routines ("time to wake up! time to eat!") and making sure everything is "running smooth". Male cats seem to lounge around and be more passive about things.
Ha ha, well said. I've had both and love both, so ideally I would love to have 2 females and 1 or 2 males at home at the same time as it makes for the most fun combination of mischief and shenanigans. Surprises guaranteed every day.
I've had mostly female cats over my life, but the most affectionate was male as was the most miserable. All my females were very content and even tempered. My current is a black female british shorthair who is left pawed. 🙂
I have always heard the rule of thumb is female cats and male dogs but the cat should be spayed. All of my cats have been female and spayed and no problems to report.
My male cat was the sweetest, most playful cat I've ever met. Loved people, very sociable, great with kids, mellow with other cats. Pretty fearless and easygoing. I only mention it as a counterpoint to anyone reading who might be looking at adopting. Male cats can be wonderful companions, they just bring a different energy to the equation. Usually a little more assertive, a little more adventurous, more likely to fight with other cats. But especially if they are neutered before they get too old, none of that should become too extreme as to be a problem.
My female calico loves me the most than all the other male cats in my home. She is also most demanding of pets. Most demanding of treats. Most demanding of space on the computer table, keyboard, lap space. But, she doesn't often enter the bedroom or spend nights with us. She's the only one in the family scared of thunder, seeks shelter in the dark bedroom.
female cats are less friendly? this is such a misconception! mine purrs louder than a motor, loves attention, bely rubs and staying close... she follows us everywhere! and there are many female cats at a park near my house, they're also the most friendly little creatures and I love petting/taking care of them
I find these studies a bit misleading as they usually talk about strangers. Vets are not owners. If I was a cat i wouldn't be affectionate to the vet either as he/she is likely to try to poke me with a needle or do something otherwise unpleasant. So while female cats may be more standoffish with strangers, I don't think that applies to owners.
As someone who has had and has both male and female cats I will say that I think males are nicer than females, so when I look for a cat to adopt I look for male cats. That being said I'm not against the idea of adopting a female cat or anything I just have better experiences with male cats.
So just because female cats live longer that means I should only adopt female cats? Also if you take care of your male cats they can live a long time. It is true that females live longer but that is true with humans as well. Bigger bodies just means less time alive unfortunately. Anyways have you had a male cat before they are just better than female cats simply put.
@@donalddean2037 My older cat was male and he was my best friend. I was just saying the stereo types aren't always true. I think its a lot more how they grow up.
I’ve been around plenty of cats the sweetest two were females the meanest was a male and the most cuddly are def a tie with a male and a female cat. The longest living cat was a a stray female that was adopted by my parents when I was young she died when I was in my 20’s. My last cat died recently at about the age of 10, she was indoor/outdoor cat that adopted me
I have a female calico cat and a male orange tabby. I didn't get my male cat as a kitten so he stuck in his ways. He is very distant and get scared quick. It might be from his last home. But when we got my female kitten, he is more open and affectionate now. My little girl is so playful and lovable. She always up under me.
I've noticed that my female cats are more likely to choose one person to be with. The males are less picky and will hang out with anyone willing to pet them. My current lady cat will only allow me to cuddle and pet her. She's so sweet with me, but ridiculously unpleasant with everyone else.
I don't agree with the "scratching" statements. Cats also scratch to sharpen their claws or to help them "shed" their claws, or to shorten them, somehow. I've found several claws from my female kitty around my house - inside and outside. Plus, it's just natural for them to want to scratch - male and female. I'm not certain about which sex scratches the most, though. But, sometimes it is to leave their scents. However, it's not mentioned in this video how they will scratch to shed their nails every once in awhile. 😻❣😻
Growing up in my family I just had better experience with females cats. I didn't know they stayed in shelters longer than male cats. That helps ease my preference a bit. I got a wild calico girl right now I adopted back in January. She's so happy when we go on our walks and seeing the outdoors. I wanted to make her an indoor cat like my previous girl that died of old age at 15 but she's just not having it. She fixed and everything at least. She wants to see it all. Her enthusiasm for life has sparked me a bit too.
Female cat supremacy!!! I have a female cat, her name is Nala 🤣 But in all seriousness I love all cats and it’s awesome learning about my kitty and her fellow female cats 🥰 thankfully I don’t have to deal with kittens or her being in heat, though. I’m glad we got her fixed
In my experience, male cats tend to hang out in groups + take on and teach skills to kittens, that the females have tired of. Also the females tend to be much more solitary. Possibly European cats may do things differently?
I have 1 female black cat and 1 male black and white cat. My girl is very affectionate with me and always demanding attention yet she is a bit more reserved with other members of the family. My boy on the other hand is a love-machine but he is half ragdoll too.
The cost of neutering a female cat is double the one for a male cat, where I live. I'm sure this also comes into play when picking a female or male cat.
Same where I live. Literally the double. Though, I think the main reason for preference towards male cats may be different and may depend on the place you live at - if your male cat is allowed outside, he won't mark his territory inside and he won't bring you babies, either. But if you won't neuter your female cat who is allowed out, sure enough you'll end up with kittens. So not only the neutering costs play the role here, at least in my observation. Also, female cats are believed to be meaner than male cats (at least here, and I can confirm I knew some fierce female cats, while most males were just lazy butts, but that depends ofc also, how they were brought up, socialized etc.), so if someone wants a cuddly one, they rather look specifically for males, before they get to know the kitten at all.
I’ve only ever had female cats and all 3 of them have been the most loving, affectionate little beings I’ve ever known. My current cat especially loves me and loves to cuddle so much. It breaks my heart that female cats are seen as less affectionate and even stay longer in shelters because of it. I guarantee that affection level is much more strongly based on a cat’s individual personality than their gender
Well throughout my experience giving food to stray animals in my neighbourhood, male cats tend to be quicker to "tame". I once saw a male kitten, gave him food and it didn't even take 15 mins for him to follow me around and trying to be nice. I am not a cat lover, so I just treat it as an "experience". While in terms of giving stray female cats.. Took me around 3 days for me to be recognized by the cat. I don't blame them.. They are females, meaning they bear and take care of their litters (while the toms live carefree life) thus their instinct was more towards being protective and such..
5:33 - interesting that you'd show an orange cat while describing females (Molly), since, just like calicos and torties are predominantly female, it's also very rare for an orange cat to be female.
We have a 2-year-old female rescue, and she is the most affectionate cat I have ever had. I had two males before, and they were affectionate but never as much as this little girl. She is spayed, so that must mean it's in her personality to be cuddly. She is a lap cat, sleeps on our chest, wants cuddles all the time, and gives back toys so we can play with her. I mean, she is amazing. She even talks to us daily, not just when asking for food.
I have a Calico cat. She looks like the first two cats. Black and ginger. I adopted her from my job. My manager found her behind the trash bin and we kept her inside the store for a week. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. They ask the employees if we wanted her and I said yes. I already have a male cat and I always wanted a playmate for him. Her name is Buttercup and she is the sweetest and patient kitty I've ever had the pleasure to have met. ❤❤
I've always had male cats because it was my dad's preference but we randomly saved a female tortishell kitten abandoned in the country and she literally saved my life I like to think. She has a huge personality the biggest one I've ever seen actually and she can get really bossy if she's wanting to sit in your lap and your busy and she Always has something to say she does a chirping noise if you see her or touch her or ask her something or just say her name and she is really stubborn she just wants to cuddle all day
Well, I have a tortie and I went in with my mom to pick her a cat out. My pants leg was up next to a cag on the floor and this little dark golden arm reaches out and hooks my jeans. That's when I found my little Salem Lee. She two siblings in the cage one sister and one brother. I could of been happy with Salem, but her siblings wanted to come too. It was hard, but I decided on her brother. Ironically, Salem made her presence known at my house and became the queen of the household. The boy - Mannie became a sweet cuddle-cat who never hissed or growled and just enjoys playing and annoying his sister. Salem is incredibly affectionate to me and they both enjoy cuddling with eachother.
We have been adopted by many cats. They find us but we are the suckers that let them stay. Presently we have 5 but we have had as many as 9 at one time. All but one is a rescue.
My cat is definitely not affectionate. He is very gentle though, not aggressive at all. Got him as a stray when he was they estimate he was 4 months old. He is now 6 years old soon to be 7 in August. He never seeks out attention, he only comes when he's hungry. My neighbor has two female cats and when I visit her those two cats are all over me. Again I know they say each cat is an individual with different personalities but everyone in my life who has owned cats always say the females are more affectionate.
Thanks for the education I am a total baffon when it comes to this. Now I can understand and care for this sweet and innocent animal that got dumped on me.💪
I have an exception to the role female cat. Though both are very bonded to me and often show signs of affection, the female is by far the most affectionate of the two. There my babies and I couldn't part with either of them.🐈🐈⬛😚😇
My little 1 year old female cat is enough. Cashmere is a 1 year old, very easy going petite sweetheart. I feel like I won the lottery and don’t want to press my luck by adopting another cat who might be challenging to live with.
I've had cats throughout my adult life, I had a beautiful all black male who developed so many illnesses that he only lived with me for 10 years, I missed him dearly and adopted a female Siamese cat who was abused, I've never seen a depressed 8 month old kitty before so I brought her home another female Siamese baby, the two bonded and they are now 5 and 6 years old And So affectionate, they both (one in particular) follows me everywhere and they both need they're petting times a few times a day, I couldn't be happier with my females and certainly hope they are with me for many years.
When I adopted my cat, she was curled I to a ball in the back of her carrier. We didn't bond whatsoever but over time she has become quite a sweet affectionate friend. So I wouldn't trust first impressions at the shelter as it takes time especially for nervous cats to come around. 🐈⬛
lol I have multiple cats and the girls can't stand each other while the boys all get along so it was funny to hear that it's normally the other way around.
I am the proud caretaker of 8 cats and always theorised that my male cats appeared to be left handed and the female ones righthanded. Never looked it up because I believed I was imagining things. But now I know!!
I have two females and two males. Both males are HIGHLY affectionate, annoyingly so sometimes, but one of my females is still semi feral after several years with me. My other female is very sweet and friendly, but she prefers to lay next to or near me, not ON me. Honestly, I love how snuggly my boys are but I love my girls just as much and they show their love in their own ways.
since I raised my cats from kittens they are both affectionate to my dad and I ones a male and the other female they are fixed and friendly to each other and other people
As an owner of a female cat named Bella,I can verify that the name thing is true! When I got her in 2020 she was about 7 months old,but to me her personality just matched her name! She's quite a piece of work!,as you can see in my thumbnail and my YT channel featuring her ! I call her my "Geisha Girl" an she is indeed beautiful! Her other nickname is "Beesh"! Lol! Edit: I can't say enough about how much better off your cat will be, mentally and physically (health wise) when they are spayed or neutered. And your household as well...
Always spay and neuter your cats. It makes the females live longer and the males less aggressive. Also male cats will piss everywhere if you don't neuter them.
Female cats scratch just as much as male cats, their claws grow fast and scratching keeps them trimmed and sharp, never try trimming their nails, they hate it. My Aoife is also extremely affectionate, rubs, headbutts and likes to touch noses, even though she's spayed, even loves belly rubs. No paw preference either. She's standoffish and doesn't like strangers, usually hides when people visit and slowly starts checking them out. Give her some freeze dried chicken treats and she'll love you.
:( I have 3...safe now; as in, I have created barriers but, I have lost two cats who went to adjoining terraces for usual playtime n never returned.. It has been yrs but, I still think abt them
I love female cats, they are just amazing... Yeah, they can be very independent but love you a lot when they pick you. I have one, I try not to bother her but she loves to do it to me hahahaha Female cats are the best, I truly recommend to have one and always spayed them, there's not need to make them breed. The best hunters too, and you are the loved of them, you'll get a lot of presents (preys), just to let you know, they're taking care of you too.
Your feral cat is a moggie aka domestic short hair. 95% of cats are moggies aka domestic short hair. Japanese bobtail is a pure breed cat and are very rare!
All cats are beautiful creatures,If I chose to buy one, based on this video and others ive seen about these things,I would probably by a female one and have her spewed. They live longer, have fewer health issues and mark territory less.
Yup to the young pregnancy. My cat came in to us as a kitten at the start of the year. She was about a month and a half old. She's pregnant and about to deliver any day now.
Fun Fact: The Oldest Two Headed Cat (Janus Cat) to ever live is a cat named "Frank and Louie" who was only expected to live just a day or two.... He lived for 15 years and 87 days. Just amazing!
Cats not only scratch to spread scent, but scratching also prevents overgrowth of the claws, which if not constantly worn down, or periodically trimmed, will grow continuously and curve back into the paw causing discomfort, injury and possibly serious paw infection.
i miss my cat she was the best cat i ever had she was abandoned at a young age and never got the milk to grow, she stayed dwarf size her whole life, all 15 years i had her... but she was beautiful, and smart... long shaggy hair, brown, black, white... RIP Smores, miss you.
So my roommate has a female cat who likes to brush herself against our legs. I find it irritating because her fur flies everywhere and sticks to everything and I have a bit of an allergy. Not deathly allergic, but it's annoying. She's an affectionate cat so I feel bad, but I don't want to cough all the time. Thankfully Sassy (the cat, lol) likes to be outside so we put her out sometimes. Why does she brush against our legs so much? I can hear her purring and sometimes I do pet her, but the legs thing can be startling for me when I need to leave the house quickly. Sometimes I also don't like being touched and it bothers me. It's not her fault, but what can I do? What does it mean?
My male knocks things off tables all the time, but he does not use his paws, he either crashes into them headfirst, or flops over on his side and knocks them off with his butt, so the question with him is he right, or left butt cheeked? I will have to watch him more closely to find out.
I've volunteered at cat shelters and spcas for many years. We had a female cat or two as kids and recently I was bequeathed two female cats from my friend who passed. Had a couple male dogs and a couple females. My pick are females, anyday. I love their docile nature and less likelihood to wander. I cannot believe male cats are more affectionate, maybe to strangers, maybe at first. but the females come around with trust and besides, I wouldn't want a more affectionate cat!
My family had a female calico cat, although she didn’t like us touching her too much she would still come up to one for pets. She lived 18 years but we had to put her down in 2018 due to kidney failure and diabetes that was already to serious. I prefer having female cats, I have a female cat and a male cat, but my male cat is aggressive and doesn’t liked to be touched. RIP Kitty.

My female cat that my wife and i got when we were first dating also ended up being extremely affectionate. She is a bit sketchy with loud noises and quick movements, but she will cuddle and sleep next to you for hours.
i think females mainly take longer to warm up to people.
I've always had male cats until I adopted my mom's female cat. She is super chill and affectionate ... and she has a left paw preference!
That a male identifying as a female
all my previous female cats where always ALWAYS super affectionate, they always followed me around, slept with me, wanted pets all the time, layed down on my lap, my male cat is the same
As a female cat I can confirm these facts
I’d wager that maybe female cats are less lovable to vets, but fiercely loyal to their human family. Like ours was.
Agree! 😃
Ours was, also. ❤️
What type of material is the cover made of?
@@isabellahu4606 I do use a cover too. I bought a cheap queen size blanket to cover my couch and it works great.
Not all female cats are standoffish, it depends on the breed. For example, Birman cats are really affectionate both male and female
It’s my male part Siamese that keeps things going on time.
He has an uncanny sense of when it’s time to eat!
That demonstrates gender roles bring universal to you right there 👍

Female C A T is F E M A L E
I've had mostly female cats over my life, but the most affectionate was male as was the most miserable. All my females were very content and even tempered.
My current is a black female british shorthair who is left pawed. 🙂
Prairie Sunflower- You are blessed! Is your black British Shorthair very affectionate?
It's so crazy when you think about that ONE female cat could produce around 49000 kittens. 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
Our nature is amazing!
female cats are less friendly? this is such a misconception! mine purrs louder than a motor, loves attention, bely rubs and staying close... she follows us everywhere! and there are many female cats at a park near my house, they're also the most friendly little creatures and I love petting/taking care of them
Mine is like this too, greets all the strangers that come to the door like she’s known them forever lol not a guard cat for sure 😂
You wrote this before he told you the exceptions didn't you 😏
I find these studies a bit misleading as they usually talk about strangers.
They are though I mean not all I’m sure but in my 20 years my males have been more friendly then my females especially with strangers
I would think them living longer would make females more popular. My cat is female and she is the most friendly and affectionate cat ive ever met.
My last cat died recently at about the age of 10, she was indoor/outdoor cat that adopted me
I had boys and girls and generally prefer girls, I find them more playful and cuddly. Not sure why people say they are standoffish.
Because they are
I have a female calico cat and a male orange tabby.
I have three female cats and they are all super affectionate
Wow how interesting! Kitties are fascinating creatures. I like how they exhibit different attitudes styles temperaments etc.
Female cat supremacy!!! I have a female cat, her name is Nala 🤣
But in all seriousness I love all cats and it’s awesome learning about my kitty and her fellow female cats 🥰 thankfully I don’t have to deal with kittens or her being in heat, though. I’m glad we got her fixed
In my experience, male cats tend to hang out in groups + take on and teach skills to kittens, that the females have tired of.
Also the females tend to be much more solitary.
Possibly European cats may do things differently?
2:07 That was probably the least surprising one. Even when I first found out.
I have a male and a female cat. However, several strays visit me for food or to sleep on my boat. The females are the most friendly by a long way.
I have a lefty, super affectionate female calico cat. Glad to know she is spaded and Healthy:) might get her another female friend to bond with
I picked up a stray tortoise kitten off the side of the road almost two years ago. Her name is Mama and she is the sweetest little kitty cat.
I have a orange female cat. Rescued her from an intersection as a kitten.
Not nearly as close to that ratio though. Male torties are 1 in 3000, red females are 1 in 5 to 1 in 4.
i have an orange female cat! Her name is cheese puff, She's really nice and suprisingly, territorial
I also rescued a female from the highway. Bella is beautiful and mine! 💚💙💜. She's also left pawed like me
I have a Calico cat.
She has a huge personality the biggest one I've ever seen actually and she can get really bossy if she's wanting to sit in your lap and your busy and she Always has something to say she does a chirping noise if you see her or touch her or ask her something or just say her name and she is really stubborn she just wants to cuddle all day
When me and my brother come home from work she meows at us in a whiny tone like she hates the fact that we work lol
All but one is a rescue.
thank you for this!!! would love a male cat video unless u already made one!

My laid back girl ,not as affectionate as average male but the depth of her love and devotion really something special
My fur baby is half Siamese and half Russian blue! Siamese are often times attentive dad's!
I've had two female cats both in heat. I've learned all I want to know about female cats. Thank you.
This is the first time I have ever seriously contemplated paw dominance, lol. Thank you for the video.
Great video!
Not me who doesn’t even own a cat and is just watching these to learn about them because I’m probably getting one when I get older
Male cats are less stand off ish with people. But female cats once they became your pet are very loyal and cuddly and needy
My dad had a male tortoise shell cat who was fertile although unhealthy!
why is the cat unhealthy?
I love my little calico kitty. Such a sweet baby girl
Growing up we had a like 7 girl cats and they all had babies at the same time so we had like 100 kittens. Sounds like heaven? It was
When I adopted my cat, she was curled I to a ball in the back of her carrier.
That's my experience too. The females never got along but the male got along with both females
I have a female cat and she is the most affectionate one I ever had. Love her do death.
Awww! When my cat goes I will definitely get a female cat.
As a female cat, I can confirm these facts are true
I have a 12 week old female kitten and she is so friendly. People who meet her for the first time comment about her friendliness.
I am the proud caretaker of 8 cats and always theorised that my male cats appeared to be left handed and the female ones righthanded. Never looked it up because I believed I was imagining things. But now I know!!

I had a rare 4 color calico. She had a great heart on her back.
I have two females and two males. Both males are HIGHLY affectionate, annoyingly so sometimes, but one of my females is still semi feral after several years with me. My other female is very sweet and friendly, but she prefers to lay next to or near me, not ON me.
Honestly, I love how snuggly my boys are but I love my girls just as much and they show their love in their own ways.
since I raised my cats from kittens they are both affectionate to my dad and I ones a male and the other female they are fixed and friendly to each other and other people
The young couple who board my dogs when I go on vacation have a male calico! I’m 52 and that’s the first time I have seen one.
Depends on what charasteristics you are looking for in a female cat, but there are great benifits to spaying/nuetering
Always spay and neuter your cats. It makes the females live longer and the males less aggressive. Also male cats will piss everywhere if you don't neuter them.
I have a female black cat named _Bella_ and she's very sassy yet loving!
Shes around 12 or 13 years old.
So cool thanks
Female cats scratch just as much as male cats, their claws grow fast and scratching keeps them trimmed and sharp, never try trimming their nails, they hate it. My Aoife is also extremely affectionate, rubs, headbutts and likes to touch noses, even though she's spayed, even loves belly rubs. No paw preference either. She's standoffish and doesn't like strangers, usually hides when people visit and slowly starts checking them out. Give her some freeze dried chicken treats and she'll love you.
My cat is female and she is the most loving and needy cat i have ever met.
We have 1 female and 2 male cats & our female is the most affectionate one!❤

4:04 Creme puff is a very cute name and fitting because the cat had some white fur.
Awwww I had a Bella , she was so pretty 😍
0:07 Randomly realized that the male cat was slightly bigger
Had one 20 years ago.
She was black.
She waited when i got home from school
But one day she was gone and i never saw her again

I have 3...safe now; as in, I have created barriers but, I have lost two cats who went to adjoining terraces for usual playtime n never returned.. It has been yrs but, I still think abt them
Mine was also black and she disappeared recently. I miss her a lot, black cats are amazing !
That's cool about a male calico can also happen in males born xxy and they have health problems and are steirl as well.
My parents and I had 4 cats three of them male and one female and the girl cat that I took with me when i moved out outlived all of them.
I have fostered a Japanese bobtail female cat since February. She's a feral cat
"Less likely to scratch". Can't say the same about my own kitty since all my sofas, an armchair and a door are heavily scratched
I hope my tortoiseshell beauty can live for 38 years!
one x chromosome in females gets deactivated in each cell during development, which is more or less a random event, hence the random patches
Nicer animation than many youtubes.
RIP Kitty.
