The music scene in the UK in the mid-80s was amazing! I was stationed in the UK during this time period and am still amazed at the number of hits that were produced. From Sade to Culture Club and Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Paul Young, Thompson Twins, The Cure, UB40, etc etc, I used to watch Top of the Pops every week 😀

He wrote and played all of this by himself, including his early concerts, where he'd be surrounded by synthesizers. He said, people weren't sure what think of him at first.

From the same album, New Song was my favorite. Later , Like to Get to Know You Well, No One Is To Blame, Things Can Only Get Better, and Everlasting Love we’re popular songs. Howard Jones was known as a master of the synthesizer and influenced many with his hair and clothing style. Many hours listening to HoJo on my Walkman during my teen years.

I love Howard Jones - his lyrics are so beautiful. These lyrics are so full of wisdom. The album is called Human's Lib - and it's definitely got themes of relationships not only one to one but brotherly love. It's a wonderful album filled with optimism. The synths might be hard for people now a days to get into but the message is 60s flower child filtered through 80s synth. Highly recommended

This was Howard's biggest hit here in the UK reaching number 2 in the charts in early 1984. His debut album released in March 1984 went straight in at number 1 with over 600,000 copies sold in the UK double platinum album here. He had a string of big hit singles 'Things can only get better' is a must! Other album tracks 'Equality' Will you still be there? & Specialty show what a brilliant songwriter Howard is also loved his last UK hit singe 'All I want' please react to more HoJo you won't be disappointed!

One of the best songs of all time!❤ (This and Close to the Edge and Supper’s Ready 😅) I loved this and had the album aged 14/15? 1985? He was a totally solo synth artist and as I was into Floyd too, the bleakness and power of this floored me ❤ It would work as a synth track on The Wall. His other stuff is brilliant but unfashionable too. Try Nick Kershaw and “Wouldn’t It be Good?” as the teen angst pop songs of my generation-the 80s kids.
For Howard Jones, try New Song from 83/4. Totally different vibe and I used to listen to it on my Walkman going to school ❤❤
Also try Level 42 and Living it Up
