I discovered this incredible singer during the first french lockdown, I can't stop listen to her anymore. I listened all albums now, I saw her in concert, I met her... I"m lucky. But I still can't explain so much talent with so much humility and kindness. She succeeded to combine extreme vocal technic and pure emotion. This video is an amazing masterpiece song. Is she really human ? Some notes here are not from this planet...
BixClix Actually, the term "Tak um legg, slá í vegg", doesn't mean to grab the child's leg and knock on the wall. A "leggur" was a child's toy - a rattle made of a sheep's leg. This frase is to be understood as to grab the toy and gently shake it, so that the child calms down and falls asleep.
Oh my! This is utterly gorgeous. I have only one question; why only 28,000 views in eight and a half years? There should be 28 million. Absolutely beautiful woman. Absolutely beautiful voice.
I agree... discovered since few weeks only. It took several years to arrive in my ears but only 10 seconds to catch my heart. I'm french, and here this kind of music is not on the waves. All peoples can hear is mass production and fashionable. She is Art and only Art, from a country that nobody knows about (for french people). And here, the only nordics reknown artists are Abba and Bjork, maybe Sigur ros, and metal bands... It's surely very difficult for a little country to be visible in the ocean of musical business.. But looking Eivør, her success is growing and she began to perform everywhere. It's really nice for her and for us because we will see her live next time :)
@@thierrybregeot6356 I only discovered Eivor about two months ago too. I can't stop listening to her. You may or may not know, she has recently announced a new album, which will be released in September.
@@63rdwho yes thank you, i'm following her news and already got my tickets for the show in Paris ;) Have you seen her lasts live stream on saturday ? She is really cool and amazing. Thank you for your comment and take care of you
It's an old traditional lullaby. "Rura, rura barnið, krýtin stendur í jarni, mamman er og treskir korn, pápin blæsur í lúðurhorn, systurin seymar gullið upp á barnið. Vil ikki barnið tiga, so tak um legg og slá í vegg, so skal barnið tiga. Translated: "Rock, rock the baby the Evil One is bound in metal the mother grinds the grain the father blows the lure the sister sews gold on the child If the child will not be silent take hold of the leg and knock on the wall then the child will be silent
This specific one is a Hokema Sansula Kalimba. It plays with overtones, and you can make a 'wah-wah' effect on it against a flat surface. It is a bit expensive, but absolutely worth it! (I have three...-)
My signature!

Yes, it is a very old traditional lullaby. Most, if not all, Faroese children have had this sung over them since they were infants.
Wowsers. I just got chills. So good.
She is amazing!

I'll comment 'bout her as soon as I catch my breath!!!
Mir kommen die Tränen ins Gesicht

I really dont understand, why "Dansadu Vindur" is her best known song.
This is so much better...
I think I once saw a live version of this song, but she was singing in the open. Does anyone knows where to find that version again?

@ragnaur knows for sure
Of course Icelandic people believe in fairies when there are people who sing like this. SERIOUSLY IS THIS A HUMAN VOICE, esp. at 2:44-3:00
SpookyDarling She is Faroese, but sings in the Icelandic language sometimes. So beautiful.
This is Faroese :)
Fable brought me here, but only because of my search for the type of instrument she is using. It's so mesmerizing 😶
Amazing tool, a lovely voice. I can find out the name of this tool? Where is it and can be purchased?
Lidia Igberdina It’s a kalimba - try ebay.
Also known as a mbira
