we use bare hands to eat when the food is dry and when it's so big for bitting or "chunky". foods like crispy pata, steamed crabs and seashells, grilled fish. it's just special because you can see those foods commonly during picnic or "inuman" sessions. but some Filipinos preferred not to use a spoon and fork in most dishes because it is simply more comfortable and less "sosyal"
