    How exciting your first overnight winter trip to the cabin...YIPPEE. So happy for you both that it went so well. The pups had fun too. You two I am sure will have years of memories and building more outdoor facilities and that is very great to hear for sure. Your cabins first usage is awesome for sure. This is a thank you God moment for giving you two the vision of your cabin and more to come. Thank you for sharing your trip.

    Awesome guys! Use a 12v water pump up from the creek. It can be filtered to a cistern at the highest elevation above the cabin and shower. Gravity pressure will work great for a tankless propane water heater for your shower. The biggest cistern you can handle is the best! The pump will only be needed when filling your tank. Can't wait to see what you will do!

      Awesome ideas @BWC ok! Thanks for the food for thought, procuring the water and heating it will be our biggest logistic challenges. Thanks again for watching and for your comments!

    I have a propane heater to regulate the temperature and pick up the slack at night when the fire goes out. It automatically turns on when the temp drops. It is hard to peg the temperature with the wood stove. So I will turn down the fire when the place heats up and let the propane stove het up the last few degrees and keep the temperature where I want it. Got one that is black and has the fake logs so it looks nice.

      Thanks for watching and for your comment. You are correct, we got a MR Buddy Big Buddy heater that allows us to sleep through the night without feeding the fire all night. Works great! Thanks for watching, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.

    I put a spypoint cell game cam pointed at my cabin so I can get pictures sent to me everyday. Put a solar battery pack on it and it lasts forever. No cell service but their external antenna was able to make it work.

      Cool, I need to upgrade to a cell cam. I have a trail cam observing this now but have to go pull the card.

    If you build the coals up before bed then put the biggest log that'll fit in the stove on the coals and turn the dampers almost closed, the big log should burn all night. May have to mess with the dampers to get the air mix right.

      @LifeintheNorth40 Absolutely I already subscribed to your channel about 5 months ago. I bought over 10 acres of raw wooded land in Jackson Michigan for me and my 2 small boys and I got a shed that I turned into a cabin and had brought to the land ( Still a work in process - huge leaning curve ) I'm actually waiting to get to the point where I spend my first night in my cabin. In fact I've watched this particular video probably a dozen times and I will share it as well. You guys are inspirational

    Use just sand for the icy areas. Won't harm the root system or the microbes in the soil. Should be cheaper too.

    the goal zero in the cooler bag won't work. coolers hold heat or cold for a while, like a few days, but once the temp works it's way in, it will equal whatever the outside temp is.

      Understood, however the generator produces some low level heat doing its basic operation so Im hoping. You may indeed be correct, but I though I would give it a try. Went down 24 hours later after our overnight with no heat and it worked so we will see.

    Amazing video I got a question cabela's makes a disco bed as well. Do you think it's comparable to what you have beause if so, I would rather go that route because it's cheaper, but what if the quality?

    • @LifeintheNorth40
      @LifeintheNorth40  Рік тому +1

      Great question. I have a good friend that got his from Cabelas, there are different models his are the XL, wider than ours. At the time we bought ours from Costco this size was cheaper than Cabelas. So check your models to make sure they are the type you want. Also, I believe we did get ours on a sale. Thanks for your question, hope this helps. Please help us out if you enjoyed our content and subscribe as we are trying to grow our channel

      It means no power, water, or sewer in our dry cabin. We do get cell service, but we go to the cabin for solitude. Thanks for your question and for watching! Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy our content.
